also, please stop saying/thinking you are in some way to blame or that you are messing people around. These are your parents who love you and want you well and healthy. You've had a medical condition, not of your choosing, sorted out now and hopefully healing but with possible more to come. Thats not messing people around. You'd never say that about any of your friends so stop saying it about yourself!

Hope you manage to sort the life insurance as would be a shame to miss it. Also cheering you on for booking a girly cruise for your 50th.
Also very happy to hear you won't be going anywhere and your future MF plans sound exciting.
June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!3 -
I am sure you will sort it out and the cruise (s) will be waiting in 2025 -
I too put pressure on myself to do everything but your health and stress levels are honestly the most important thing right now along with some gentle no pressure fun to look forward to - some gentle meandering around York with comfy sofas sound perfect ! Maybe you could all go to a spa type hotel in the uk - sit and watch the beach, veg out in the jacuzzi - eat super well in the company of your loved ones …DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

BookWorm said:Hi NG - have you looked into specialist cruise travel insurance? It tends to be the more standard travel insurance cover that doesn't like cruises or medical conditions. There are plenty of older people (not saying you are btw!) who travel on cruises with a whole range of conditions - so there is definitely cover availableIf you search "cruise travel insurance with medical conditions" there are a number of options which come up. Be a shame to cancel unless you really have no other choice
Hi Daisy, thank you, I know they don’t mind really, I’m lucky!Hi lady and Vix, I shall be going on the 2025 cruise(s) even if it means paying privately for treatment so I can 😆
Busy day today and I’m struggling on new tablets as I feel so tired, popped to dds with dh and ds2/dil for a couple of hours and also went to mums for a quick coffee, plus I spontaneously bought myself a big present! Something I’ve bought before years ago and not used then sold, but I’ve been looking at getting a dolls house again for a few months. Poor dh had to go and collect half an hour away but i bought a what turned out to be huge one with wired working lights everywhere for just £25 😬 It needs work and I don’t want to think about how much it will cost to fill, but my Aunt is an expert and has had her handmade ones in an exhibition do she can help. Huge photo on the way then this months update….MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -

Balance at 30th June: £19,550.82

Woohoo we are under £20k 😬 This is down to extra cash from dh and money that was going to be used for holiday, we now have a planned end date of March, I’ve also dropped the monthly budget to £500 as well to get the end date sooner.Next months plans are :
Stick to £500 budget
Get a trip to York pencilled inRing Tesco clubcard about the voucher that wouldn’t work
Price compare gas/electric as the fix ends tomorrow
Consider starting the vinted selling again
Get through all three kids birthdays with no budget except for their presents 😱
Continue rehab and look into gyms for afterwards
Get better!

It would be cheaper 😆
The sun is out again thank goodness, I’ve a bit of washing to catch up on. Went to rehab again Monday and yesterday, it’s getting a bit easier and I’m really hoping the new medication is helping with my heart rate, I feel like it’s improving but don’t want to tempt fate! Either way the cruise is getting cancelled, and the money overpaid (it already has been 😆). Instead we will go to York for a week with my parents, none of us have ever been for that long. I’ve managed to get a new code for the clubcard hotel, one to replace the code which didn’t work so we will probably book a night maybe in Durham while we are there. Two shops coming today, one for the frozen food shop and one from sainsburys, totalling about £107, I feel like we have had no food for weeks, I must be more organised this month with shopping 😳
Finally I’ve been accepted from prolific and moved from the waiting list, hooray! Will have a look later today 😊 also getting a bit closer to payout on new vista. After paying off extra and cutting back the grocery budget it looks like we are £485.99 off paying off another month! Now I would have had some surplus for this however I’ve just paid £300 for last weeks specialist consultation and another £105 to dad as he paid the cruise deposit 😩 I’ve still got £400 put by to take to York/ Durham but I need a fair bit as we want to take mum and dad out for a posh meal to say thanks for saving my life this year 😂
So a new challenge to beg borrow or steal £485.99 is underway!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Wise decision on the cruise NG and great that the money's already gone off the mortgage. I think a week in York will be nice - a chance to explore new places, have a proper home-away-from-home holiday. Definitely think you need to take your parents out for a meal though - although I'm sure they wouldn't expect you to!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
