Long day yesterday, thank goodness I’d borrowed a wheelchair as we were hours there, it’s busier than Wembley on a match day our local hospital, will need to get used to that as I’ve been told that as I am better being monitored at hospital (for life) than elsewhere, will need to look at that, as it’s a drive and a nightmare to park 😩
Heart rate is unnervingly jumping around but not enough to worry about, it’s so strange though! Thank goodness for my smart watch so I can check easily, it was the very reason I didn’t want one as it would make me nervous 😆 luckily dh surprised me at Xmas a couple of years ago as it’s been very useful throughout this, hospital were able to see everything at home before I was taken back in.Getting close to payday and another month off, I got the travel insurance settlement, I was expecting :
£500 credit back (given by cruise company for last cruise having no hot water for days) , got that back automatically
£816 balance plus £50 spent on GP letter - received a total of £332.14 back due to not declaring I’m on iron tablets and recently anxiety pills which apparently massively put up the premium so as I paid only a fraction they pay out a fraction of the claim. The annoying things is in the midst of all this I rang to add the anxiety pills as to start we thought I might go and got a quote of an extra £13.50 on top of the joint yearly policy paid of £54. I didn’t add it as I wanted to add my scans the next day 😩 still can’t work out how being on iron tablets would make it jump so much, but I’ve spoken with them and there’s no room for negotiation. Very annoying but a lesson learned! I Will have to do some research into a new policy as we have a cheap October one booked, hopefully it’s not too crazy!Finances like there’s a surplus unless I’ve missed something, dh I think has just used an extra £100 I shall have to check if he needs more reimbursement for while I’ve been poorly, however we needed up getting lifts instead of a black cab (too scared to go Uber as it’s a long journey and I needed to go very slowly) so there’s a surplus there. Will have a further look today and see hopefully the full picture.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Still unable to focus on the finances properly with side some effects yesterday, after saying how useful the watch has been it started to stop taking ecg’s, I’ve tried to reset etc. and it now works sometimes, very annoying!Gp yesterday, hospital clinic and pharmacist at the gp today plus a visit from my aunt and mum later, Spent half of yesterday asleep so not sure how I’ll get on 😆
So strange how the last few weeks and to a certain extent months has passed by, if nothing else it’s felt like it’s fast forwarded the mortgage op challenge 😂 I’ve “lost” a lot of this month. I have looked at the credit card budget for this month and there’s £103.53 left until June 1st, plus I also noticed while checking that n@tionwide are giving customers £100 each again this year, I think we both received it last year, happy days!Ds1 is due to exchange on their flat this week, then will be moving out a couple of weeks later 😢 I just hope I see him again, he’s always so busy, I will have to start cooking nice dinners or paying for them to come out to dinner with us to bribe them to come back 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
I didn’t realise it’s been a few days! It’s not like I’ve been up to much, although I did go round mums and get propped up on her sofa for a couple of hours so dh could go to the cinema yesterday, he needed a bit of time off from being my slave 😆 their bengal young cat is so shall we say “challenging” that she now has to be shut away when I go incase she draws blood 😱 they have had so many cats before including a bengal, but this one is a handful, she’s either adorable or hanging off your arm dripping with your blood 😂 I do occasionally like to say I told you so to them, I suggested a nice chilled out older rescue cat, I think they may be paying the price for ignoring my wisdom now 😆
Brain feels slightly more in gear this morning, still struggling to sleep (still sitting up propped up everywhere like a statue 😆) but the worrying side effects although still there are not getting worse and are some days better, back to local hospital tomorrow again for more blood checks.
Still no payday for dh yet and no idea if he’s using holiday or been given time off while over been ill, traditionally dh would have given people extra time off for this type of thing as it’s a small firm and they have known each other for 35 years , but he’s not the owner now so who knows! There’s so much work that needs doing both his private work racking up massively and they need him back. I can rely on mum and best friend in the week a fair bit, but nothing like the long hours he does, so maybe we can see if he can work a few hours a day next week, I can’t wait for when I’m not reliant in anyone else.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
My regular moggy cat was a bit like that Bengal when she was a kitten but nowadays she’s generally lovely to anyone except the vet😂 hopefully your parents kitten will calm down as she ages.Mortgage OP 2025 £6750/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Hi Ng.
I'm glad you're out and you have a support system in place. I'm sorry things are so stressful. How are you feeling in yourself?
That work place has been messing you guys around ever since the sale.
Aren't Bengals more feral than regular mogs or have I mixed up the breeds?
Did... Did you ever get your nighties back?5 -
Hi skint spice, I hope so my mum is covered is scratches every day 😳
Hi KP, bengals are a bit more of a handful, bred originally from an Asian leopard cat I believe? So no wonder she’s a handful, they are strong and outdoorsy. We never got the washing back or at least haven’t had a reply yet from raising a lost ticket. I’m feeling better every day thanks, still got a heart rate all over the place which is unnerving, plus I can hear it going too fast or slow as because it’s a mechanical valve replacement it ticks like a watch 😱 hopefully the erratic rate stops after the first month or so, fingers crossed as I don’t want to return for a pacemaker 😩
I have been so incredibly lucky with all the support I’ve had, mainly from dh, my parents and best friend. Going private was a massive relief in this situation too, my friend has just had her third cancellation on her op a couple of weeks ago, it’s at nearly a year now and is pretty important. With this untreated I could have been dead within two years 😱 plus the earlier it’s done the less long term effect on the heart. It’s so strange when I didn’t really have symptoms except palpitations which I put down to menopause as they are so common. All in all I’m very very lucky 🙂
I was feeling well enough to buy myself a new dress at the weekend 😬 I defiantly deserve a treat and am missing shopping 😆 It’s a nice Joanie one covered in planets and space rockets £75 on the website and £14 on vinted worn twice! Can’t try it on for a while as I need button through , so it’s hung it up where I can look at it.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
I had bengal cats - gorgeous but yes large , wild, all my ornaments got broken - one followed me around like a dog though - always at my heels or on my lap - they are very loving
glad you are healing - sounds like DH being v supportive as well
A new dress is almost as exciting as new PJs? What has this surgery done to you ?I have finally bought a dress on Vinted I have had my eye on for months - by a designer I love - got 2 full length dresses and a cocktail dress already by them - this is more of a day dress but £32 inc postage - I’m v excited as know this designers cut works with my bodyDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
