Cheery_Daff said:Hope you're all feeling better by the time you go on holiday! I remember the ONE time we went somewhere other than a caravan in Wales when we were kids - and 3 out of 4 of us had a stomach bug in the run up π The doctor had to come out and give my mum an injection to stop her throwing up, and I was still being sick at the airport π My sister was fine, but because the rest of us were ill, she did have to remind the grown ups at some point that she's actually quite like to eat something even if the rest of us couldn't ππ
Urgh - that holiday does not sound much fun for any of you!! βΉβΉβΉ
One rime we went to D-lamd Paris was a holiday from hell..... I'd felt unwell the day before and the day of the journey - very sleepy, nauseous and achy. When we got there I was falling asleep on benches so DH sent me back to the hotel with DS3 - who was maybe a year old. I had ro navigate the buses with a pushchair and baby and feeling very out of it - we went back and slept for hours. A day later DS2 was hugely sick all over me amd him in the queue for a ride. - we went back and slept.... DH had a day of feeling rough and DS1 I think was sick/ had upset stomach. DS3 was sick at the breakfast table on the last day / maybe the day before. DD managed ok until we pulled up on the drive and ran into the house and was violently sick in the downstairs loo (thankfully right next to front door) A memorable holiday for all the wrong reasons!!π
Wide awake and have been since 2.30 when an ex neighbour woke the whole street up - he's split from his OH and has MH issues - he drove into our close loudly, revved his car engine at the house and then sat beeping his horn, thumping her front door, shouting, throwing things and repeated this cycle several times. I was on the phone to the police when he finally drove off- he had no rwposnse feom neighbour but other people were turning on lights, looking out etc. Police came and talked to neighbour. It must have been quite freaky for her - I hope she's OK. A siaturbed night's sleep for the rest of us is nothing in reality. It was reassuring to see another neighbour check on her and others at least look out and someone else come and check - it wasn't being ignored (understandable not to want to get involved whilst he was outside and clearly very angry but notifying police/ checking on her after is the right thing) We live in a cul de sac of 14 houses - built mid 1990s in an 'executive style' development- all detached, good sized, no 2 houses exactly the same etc - but it is a nice close to live in overall and the vast majority of neighbours are lovely. The affected person keeps herself very much to herself - but DH has known her for almost 35 years.Β Hopefully the ex can get some.help that he needs and leave her and her girls (not his) alone.
I'm debating getting up and making a cup of tea... sleep is not happening and I can always have a nap later....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 Β£124616 01/11 Β£89873 01/13 Β£52546 01/15 Β£12133 07/15 Β£NILNet sales 2024: Β£207 -
Gosh, what an awful night for all concerned, and how frightening for your neighbour and her girls. Glad the police came out, and people were checking on her. How scary - and, as you say, not exactly pleasant for the rest of you either π
Oh dear to your big holiday! What a palaver indeed. We actually had a pretty nice time on ours after the first couple of days - we were just camping in Jersey so at least there were no roller coasters involved!6 -
How terrifying for your neighbour greent.Β And embarrassing too.Β It's wonderful that others were looking out for her but, if she keeps herself to herself normally, she must be mortified.
Awful to be living in fear.

Thanks both - and, yes, Fortune, I am sure she is sadly mortified. There really is no need to be and I would hope she knows that people wish her well and do not blame her in any way for the disturbed night's sleep. She is not to blame for his actions - and whilst he may be suffering with MH right now nothing makes right what he did last night.Β
Everyone is a little weary this morning - well, those up are! Ds1 and DS2 are still in bed and I'm inclined to leave them for another hour at least - it's the holidays and I know DS2 was feeling some effects of his jab last night, so sleep is always a good option for recovery when you can.Β
It looks like being a lovely day here again (the garden suffering so much from lack of rain - I'm only watering a few things) - I think that's 2 loafs of washing I'll get done,Β which means it will be totally up straight. Might even try and persuade one or more of the boys to do some sorting in their rooms later.... ππ Tomorrow is packing (and baking) and making a curry to eat on Sat night - a quick and easy, tasty meal without the need to go anywhere on our first evening - sounds like a plan! πI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 Β£124616 01/11 Β£89873 01/13 Β£52546 01/15 Β£12133 07/15 Β£NILNet sales 2024: Β£206 -
I normally take a curry that has been frozen so it acts as extra ice blocks in the freezer bagΒ7

Oh dear! the what's ironing comment made me think.Β It used to be one of my chores helping me to relax.Β I realised that the last time I got the iron out was just before lockdown. As for the jab reactions, I have every sympathy.Β After the first one my sister just went to bed & slept for 2 days.Β I just got headaches with all apart from the 4th when my arm was the problem & no headache.7

Hearing about Cheery's sister reminding people she needed to be fed reminds me of a party we once had at our old house. It was a Toga party with a BBQ. Lots of drunk adults. Round about 9pm, our son tugged at someone's toga and asked if he could have something it eat as he hadn't eaten since breakfast... Strike 1 for the poor parents award that day! Also, One of the youngsters fell through the verandah (wooden platform) that the treehouse was on - we had said no more than three at a time. There were ten of them in it and she jumped up and down and went through the rotting wood, only for her parents to tell her off... phew!Save Β£12k in 2025 #2 I am at Β£4863.32 out of Β£6000 after May (81.05%)
