Ok.... need to have a think. Just had an email saying my 0% is due to run out in May and it will now be 19.896% so I need to attack attack attack the credit card. I have decided that I will count my NSD every week and add £10 to my card that day (as long as account is looking healthy!)

I'm not sure my credit rating is in a place to be accepted for a new card at 0% yet.... I might do some digging today!

  • It's definitely worth trying the acceptance tool on the MSE main site, you may be surprised. But the NSD £10 thing would definitely help too.  Seeing if you can get a 0% BT card will definitely ease some pressure.

Hi @bigbeff I'm new to MSE and trying to find motivation to improve my finances, I've been sticking my head under the sand for too long ... it's been really inspiring reading about your journey! All the best, you're doing great :)

Hi @xanderaw. Welcome. It takes a bit of getting your head round, and I have tried a couple of times to sort myself out - you need to be ready and determined. With the price rises going on, now is as good a time as any to try and get it all under control. Set yourself up with a diary - it keeps your mind focused on making cuts  I look forward to reading about it!

    Morning!
£10.84 from quidco this morning and £5 from prolific both put straight on the credit card.

Money saving plan today - list a couple of items on facebook/ebay - I have some run and fly dungarees that I bought on impulse that really don't suit me!
Plan to write menu plan for next week.
An extra tutoring session tomorrow morning (run up to exams - I try and cram as many in as possible before it goes quiet in June!)

Off out to watch some old local bands in a pub - they are supporting my Dad and his friends trips with aid out to the Ukraine. I'm looking forward to an evening out with my parents and aunties :)

    Happy weekend one and all!

  • Sounds like a productive day for you. Have fun tonight, there’s nothing quite like live music in my opinion :)

    It was awesome :)

Today has been a no spend day with a nice walk up to Golden Cap this morning. Who needs the mediterranean when you have beautiful sunshine and blue seas?! Ok....not quite so warm, but lovely all the same. So due to no spend day and tidying bank account, I transferred £21.71 to card today. It is slowly coming down. Just looking at diary for the coming couple of weeks - tutoring has got very busy and will be for next month (exams looming) and KS2 marking starts mid May - so hopefully I won't have time to spend!

Time to check in again :)

Not much to report - weekend in Cardiff with girls planned - paid for months ago so only spends needed. I'm not sure I have the energy to go, but I'm sure I'll have fun when I am there!

Debts reducing nicely and emergency fund growing.
Plan is after this weekend not to spend too much in May.... we'll see how that goes. Off to sit down with my spreadsheet during lunch break to see exactly what I have to spend.

    Have a good weekend

  • Hope you have a lovely time! Try not to feel guilty about spending this weekend, it's a time to have fun with the girls!
