New Year, New me

I have done it!!!!!! I have just made the last payment on my loan. I am debt free! 😁😁😁 

It has taken me 20 months to pay off nearly £16k of debt and I feel amazing 🤩 I couldn’t have done it without the support of people on here reminding me that it’s ok to struggle and every penny counts. I don’t think I have been debt free for about 15years…. I’m still working out my next plan, but I am going to buy myself something nice to celebrate 🎉 maybe some new shoes 😂. 

But seriously, thank you all for your support - I’ll let you know what next 😊

Your deserve to buy yourself something nice now!

I would treat saving as your new "debt" and put money away immediately you get paid so you know how much you have to use for the usual bill spends, groceries etc.

Thank you all, it is still sinking in  

I think I’m going to start putting money in a savings account with a view to overpaying mortgage, it’s fixed at 2.5% until next July, so I think I’d be better off putting in a savings account and making a payment before remortgaging. But I’m having a eeek off thinking about money!

After an eventful weekend (camping in a thunderstorm is scary!) I have decided to finish this diary, end of an era and started a savings one here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6472040/time-to-build-my-future#latest.
