Sounds like you're doing brilliant! How lovely of your dad to help! As for the 13k goal, you can do it! Xxx
Life is too short not to love what you do.

I’ve been off grid for a while, but all going well. Currently feeling on top of finances, a long way to go, but on top of them.

jobs this week is to sort mortgage fixed rate out - due to end in June but I think I’ll be able to fix from the end of the month - I hope so because rates are rising fast at the moment!

And I’m still in the black this week, off to France for a few days on Thursday, hopefully I can stay in the black through the trip. I’m so excited about being able to go abroad again!

    Hope everyone is well!

  • Feeling like you are on top of your finances is a great place to be, long may it continue!

I hope you have a lovely time in France x

It's been a while since I updated - all going well.

We had a lovely time in France and didn't spend much over budget which was great - the extra cost was masks on the plain (nowhere did it say they had to be surgical masks so last minute panic to get some about 10 mins before boarding!) But all good :)

Keeping debt ticking down slowly - didn't quite hit my target of £13k, but when loan payment goes today I think that'll put me under. Been doing a bit of painting to make new house nice nothing too pricy but starting to feel like home. Got a little bit of marking set up in May and July so that'll knock debt down further.

Off marshalling for a marathon on Sunday - I get the atmosphere of a running event without running!

  • All very positive there @bigbeff - keep it going!  Even though you didn't quite meet your target you are very close and keep focusing on what you have managed to shift this year already!! You're doing great :)

Glad you had a good time away, enjoy the marathon - think I would prefer the marshalling than the running :D

The marshalling was good fun and I even got a bit of runners envy on the nice sunny day!

Todays task was chasing money owed from council tax after move - £132 which is apparently going to be paid to me on about the 20th...watch this space!

And the second task was sorting the fixed rate on my mortgage. Because I am on consent to let, the option with the bank was 2.44% (slightly higher than a residential mortgage) and a higher rate than my current 1.79% but due to all the overpayments I have made in the last 5 years, my monthly payment has actually reduced with the higher rate. And without remortgaging to a buy to let - which I'm not sure is currently the right move for me (and with the fees would add anyway), I couldn't adjust the term at this time. So I don't know if I am better off in the long term, but I do know I can currently afford my current payments and will therefore keep paying that amount when rate change kicks in (meaning mortgage will be overpaid by at least £50 every month). And I am still on target to wipe that mortgage out by the time I am 50! So I am happy with that I think!

Aim by the end of the month - get credit card down below £4000!

Hope you are all doing well. Back on the surveys and filling in my spreadsheet again - I got a bit lax for a while!

It's an aim.... who knows what'll happen in next 10 years, I may decide to buy again at some point or sell to get place with my partner, but it keeps me focused in the meantime!

Just an update on how things are going. I have am continuing to get my debt down - still a long way to go, but it's coming down slowly but surely :) CC now at £4000 so that target is met :) My next target is to get total debt under £12k. I think that will by May 10th (loan payment will have gone then and hopefully council tax refund will come in so fingers crossed that will happen!)

Busy few weeks for me in run up to exams and then some exam marking to do, which will boost the income when tutoring becomes quiet over the summer months. Don't put all eggs in one basket right?!

Feeling a bit rubbish currently. Have a huge ulcer on tongue and throat has been sore. Just feeling generally run down. Sucks when its easter holidays!

I'm going to list some run and fly dungarees on ebay or facebook later.... I reckon that could be another £20!

  • It’s typical isn’t it, that you’re absolutely fine all the way up to having time off and then your body goes…’nope, it’s time to feel poorly’ - Grr! Happens to me all the time.
Hope you feel better soon lovely
