This week has been a good week. Sold my washing machine for £50 and two chairs for £10, that’s all my furniture either sold or moved now :) A few other bits to get rid of, but everything is moved.I got a little emotional yesterday leaving my place - it was kind of my saviour when I was in a bad place a few years ago, but a new chapter in my life is starting.

Bank account is still in the black, but we’ll see how long that lasts when i get bill for cancelling internet early and have bills for electricity and gas. Ideally I’ll get a rebate, but I think that might be wishful thinking 😂

Nearly time to hand over the keys - Thursday is d-day. I’ll probably be an emotional wreck by then 😂

  • I can completely understand the emotions you are feeling, but the good news is that you're just renting it to someone else who needs it at the moment, it's still yours :)

Congrats on shifting all the furniture, a nice little boost in cash right there! Fingers crossed any rebates cover any early termination fees and you can stay in the black as long as you can.

    Good luck for Thursday!

So the move is done, and although emotional, I am happy it is sorted.

Currently as it stands internet - I need to pay £144 internet :( , getting an electric and gas rebate for £274 :) , awaiting water bill and TV licence (which is a pain to get refunded - I need to print form and send copy of tenancy agreement?!) Also awaiting bill for Gas and Elec safety certificates... I wonder if I'll end up in the black?!

Anyway, off for a little trot in the sunshine before attacking the kitchen cupboards. Unfortunately bank account is looking a bit sad with £10 on my overdraft, but as soon as my marking pay comes in that'll be gone! I nearly made it to the end of the month and this month did have a few extra expenses such as carbon monoxide alarms and key cutting (which has got expensive by the way!)

Off to enjoy the sun for half an hour. I'll check in later :)

  • Well done on completing the move! We are planning a walk later with the dog as long as the weather holds. Hopefully you’ll still be in the black once all the final things are sorted x

I agree key cutting has gotten expensive! £8.50 for my last one when I misplaced the key to my dad’s house. It took all of 30 seconds to cut!

    Enjoy the sunshine ☀️

So, I am settling into my new place. Been out for a nice sunny run this morning, started meal planning for next few days - means we don't need to visit the supermarket every other day and don't waste so much food!

Just filled in my spreadsheet for Feb - I have basically paid off my overdraft this month, so onto next CC. I'm loving seeing the numbers going down and am getting slightly obsessive with how I'm going to make some pennies - I've made £35.24 on prolific this month and I have just found out airtime rewards has put morrisons back on their list (generally do half of grocery shop there!) so hopefully some pennies to be made!

Oh and crocheted an easter rabbit egg cosy... next i'm going to try a chick :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunny Sunday!

  • Glad you're settling in and congratulations on paying off the overdraft! A mini-milestone right there :)  Do you do batch cooking? I do it using the slow cooker (best money spent ever in the kitchen) and tub up double portions for the freezer.

I use airtime rewards too and I wondered who they would use to replace Asda, might have to shop at Morrisons more regularly now... :)

We only have a small freezer, I might have to think about how to do that!

If you struggle with tubs, you can use freezer bags instead, they take up less room x

Not much to report for me today but thought I'd check in to keep me focused.

2x no spend days so far this month :)
£5.08 withdrawn from prolific and off CC
refund from EDF, but most of that paid electric certificate and gas certificate needed for renting. Still got internet to pay for, water rebate and tv license rebate to come. I might end up drawing even!

I have been offered a short marking contract that will be another £200 in the pot, but it is 145 papers to complete in 10 days... I'm just debating if I'll have time before I go to France at the end of the month - it seems silly to pass up the money if I can fit it in.... decisions decisions!
