I think the majority of people will be anxious about price rises and very mindful of what they’re spending especially when the new gas/electric rates start to hit the direct debits. I don’t know for sure what my direct debit amount is from May yet but there’ll have to be some cutting back when I find out. I’m finding when I go shopping, if something is the same price it used to be, I’m wondering if I should buy two before it goes up 😆

I feel the same penny, bills are rocketing up and I feel like I'm losing control of the budget. Hubby is feeling brighter so he pegged out my dark load today. An hour later we've had a snow blizzard for 5 minutes. It was soon back to blue sky, just hope it lasts long enough to dry most of it.

  • Morning all.

Up with the lark this morning and have sorted the chickens and pegged out some hoodies i put on to wash last night, i have put dirt trapper rugs that we have in the porch and kitchen into the wash, just on a quick wash so will get those pegged out as soon as they are done. Then i need to have a quick shower, get dressed, walk dogs and have brekkie. Beef needs to go in the slow cooker and prep veg for tonight's tea, also make crumble topping for fruit as i'm back at dog training since i'm bug free so need to be organised today. Have a few surveys to do as well so must fit those in as every penny counts at the moment. Maybe i should make a list.

I’ve just posted something similar. I feel really anxious and managed to put DH into a depressed slump yesterday with all my money waffling…

Just popping over to say hi - the energy bills situation is scary! I'm determined not to put the CH until the autumn. Glad you are covid-free now. Take care!

  • Morning all thanks for popping by.

First official day of the holidays and i don't have anything planned except a lazy pottering kind of day, dogs have been walked and chickens are sorted. woodburner has been lit. It's cold and raining, CH came on again this morning for an hour and as we have oil CH it also heats the water, so this morning instead of putting breakfast pots in the DW i washed them by hand, will also do this with lunch dishes, it makes more financial sense to use the water that has already been heated rather than filling the DW, on a day when we are all home it can easily go on twice a day which is ridiculous.
Just me and DS for tea tonight, so i'm going to do chicken nuggets, chips and beans. This wouldn't be my first meal of choice but it's a meal DS likes and will use up a bag of nuggets that are in the freezer, it's also quick and easy if not very healthy.
Jobs for today are shopping list for tomorrow's shop, realised last night lidl £10 voucher runs out Wednesday so need to go and use that, catch up on a few surveys, sweep/mop through downstairs.

    Have a good day xx
  • Very little achieved today, going to take dogs out shortly which might wake me up a bit. I've made 2 pots of overnight oats with some smashed up raspberries i found in the freezer so thats the next 2 days brekkie sorted.
Really annoyed and upset with myself as I have managed to smash a large glass dish that i was bought by my great aunty as a wedding gift nearly 21 years ago.
  • Hello, hope all is well.

Busy morning so far as i walked the dogs, sorted chickens, hoovered and moped downstairs, food shop and brought wood in and cleaned out woodburner and lit. Man has been and emptied septic tank as DH noticed water was slow to empty in the kitchen sink and checked tank and it was backed up, man had another job close by today and was able to fit us in, glad it's sorted.

Did a bigger than expected food shop but thought i would stock up on some offers whilst out, £31.56 in lidl this was after £10 voucher, £7.83 in B&M and £20.01 in booths, didn;t get fuel as i have over quarter of a tank and not really planning on going anywhere this week other than the hairdressers tomorrow.

Need to take dogs out for another walk just before 2, DS has an online job interview at 2 and the last thing he needs is 2 mental dogs doing zoomies and barking in the background.

Finances all checked and a TT of 99p sent to the holiday pot.

Thanks SA, he thinks it has gone ok, It is for an apprenticeship he has already had to do an online maths, english and verbal reasoning test and had then to do a video of himself answering some automated questions and talking about himself (oral CV), this was the final interview and they have said they will let him know next week.
