jennystarpepper said:DinkyStars said:@CRANKY40 and jennystarpepper I feel your pain, well almost. My dad who is 73 needs both knees replacing he is practically housebound now and in so much pain despite the massive amount of pain killers he is on including Morphine and Fentanyl patches but the NHS will not do either knee because of his high BMI.
Dad lost 5 stone about three years ago and managed to get his BMI down to 41, he looked so much better for it but the consultant wouldn't consider dad for a knee replacement as his BMI had to be below 40 for the referral, so once the lockdown came dad couldn't go out as much and has now gained the weight back and has almost seized up. If that referral had been done, I know dad's BMI would have been under 40 by the time of the appointment had come around.
I challenged the decision again last year quoting how the NICE guidelines state BMI should not be a barrier to a knee replacement but he couldn't get to actually see a consultant and was fobbed off via a physiotherapist who didn't even see dad face to face.
It really pains me to see dad like he is, he can barely get out of his chair to reach the toilet. He doesn't overeat but lack of exercise due to the pain means he is never going to lose weight. His life is now him falling asleep in the chair due to all the pain meds he is on. He's work his entire life and served in the army for 12 years.
On a plus point I had a lovely walk today with the dog but am struggling with food, as I am craving pizza!8 -
Hi @Brambling, Can you put a 1lb loss down for me this week. My back is nearly normal again so hopefully with exercise I may get 2 next week. Hope everyone else has a good week and anyone poorly makes a swift recovery.8

Morning
Just wanted to drop in and say for anyone who has found it's coming off a bit slowly, I'd been feeling very disheartened by the 0.5 lb a week trajectory I appear to be on but was talking to a friend yesterday who did a shake based, hard calorie restriction diet. She said she now feels extreme guilt if she eats carbs and panicky if she gains weight (she gained half a pound).
I think I would seriously prefer the very slow loss, take care of yourselves and keep an eye on your friends x#19 Make £2025 in 2025 £8.32/£2025"Remember not to do too many things at once" said me to herself.Mortgage Free Wannabe #25 2025 OP £500/£60009 -
Morning Everyone,
Checking in with a STS this week. It was showing as a pound down on Saturday, perhaps the biscuits weren't a good idea yesterday! Never mind, as SeekingFlight has said - much better to be having a slow loss rather than a way of eating you can't keep up.
Have a good week all.8 -
14 stones 4 this morning.
Brunch - roast kohlrabi with feta
Tea - Spanish chicken
Made a huge batch of Spanish chicken to freeze plus celery soup.8 -
How was the kohlrabi Frith?A half pound a week is a pack of butter which is nearly 2 stone a year, unfortunately I like food too much to lose big numbers a week which is why liquid diets wouldn't suit me, I fear I would drink it then go looking for proper food 😁 different diets work for different folks,I just need to work out how to keep it off 🙄Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin9

Well done leftatthetrafficlights on the loss!
I am scared of getting on the scales, but I have seriously been pushing myself with walking and of course suffering for it with extra pain, not sure the family dog is too impressed either, but it is the only way for me to exercise as I am somewhat scared of venturing back into a swimming pool with Covid still hanging around.
Tea tonight is Swedish meatballs, scrambled eggs and perhaps a hash brown (or two) I am meeting a friend tomorrow at IKEA and we will be having lunch in the Harvester, so I must resist the temptation to over indulge or buy sweet temptations from the IKEA shop!8 -
Sorry that I'm late this week. 1 lb loss for me please. My cooking mojo has disappeared again. I think it's because it's cold in the kitchen and darker than the rest of the house.8
