Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2022 - 1st Quarter

Checking in with an extremely unexpected 3lb loss. I think I can put the miracle down to having very recently gone wheat-free again, so it's probably water loss. I'm now at X stone 0 lbs exactly. Is there a name for crossing the boundary down into the stone below: (X-1) stone 13 pounds? I feel there ought to be! That's the goal for this week, fingers crossed.

@Broomstick - I call it hitting a zero! Well done!!
I'm still edging towards my pre Christmas zero. Yesterday's extreme clean of the dining room seems to have helped - not a lot of steps logged but I can feel it for all the bending stretching shifting of chairs etc. And trying to get back into the low carb but so far have been mostly just ensuring when I do have carbs/bread it's the seedy/whole grain type.
I'm hoping when I do an official WI on Wed I will be proud of myself.

Well done on all of the losses. I don't have a name for crossing over into the next stone down but it's always a really good psychological boost.
I know that most of this will be the difference between what I'd eaten last Sunday and yesterday but my first week was a 5lb loss
I've not calorie counted but have tried to have sensible meals and cut out the snacks. I did have drinks on Friday but it could've been a lot worse. I somehow managed not to eat everything in sight once I got home and felt so ropey on Saturday, despite not actually drinking all that much, that I couldn't eat until dinner time 🤣
I really must try to check in here more often but work's been silly busy.
Best of luck everyone.8 -
Nearly broke my dog walking streak yesterday as we were both busy with other things but managed a half hour walk and hit step target again, got quite a streak for step target which is great because I'm really motivated not to break it!
Had a naughty takeaway on Saturday due to being so busy but as I clocked up 22k steps I don't think it will have done much harm.
Only 3lb to go until I get under 12st and that's when I'll restart C25K.10 -
Lots of lovely

STS for me this week. No surprise as I responded as per usual to having to talk about my son's disability with the PIP lady by being less than careful with what I was eating and drinking. The lady wasn't even mean or anything, it just upsets me. I was cheered up by best friend yesterday, including a chat with his next door neighbour who is recovering from a broken hip and who is lovely to chat to.
I'm back on the wagon today so I'm hoping for a loss next week. Well done to everyone who is managing to swap unhealthy habits for healthy ones. Even little changes help.
SSue I've seen people take clothes off in the past at SW group. I have promised myself that I will never be one of them.....

Thanks @Brambling
I think there was some water loss in the first couple of weeks and am hoping for 1lbs a week from now on.
I have managed a packed lunch every day bar 1 this year which is helping with the moneysaving as well as the weight loss
I am also trying to walk more at work which is proving trickier.
How do people with busy lives squeeze in exercise? There is no gym where I live even if I did want to go to one. I work full time with a half an hour commute each way and have 4 children.6 -
@ziggy2004
YES! How do people do it?? Making it a priority obviously but how is that possible some days? I'm happy to be able to get up, get in the shower and not be interrupted!! It's either the OH taking a "minute" (aka 45) to pop into the loo ahead of me or MiL walking in when I'm having a shower. I used to love it when meeping Ariadne would be impatient outside the bathroom in the morning, scratch at the door, I'd open it having got out of the shower ensuring my bathrobe was on and fully tied shut and she'd jump directly up to my shoulder! Nice to have a fluffy cuddle while making one's coffee!!
No kids here (& no Ariadne any more unfortunately) but with working full time, even from home it seems impossible to even get out for sufficient steps. I actually do much better on the days I go to the office (only twice a week currently) as I at least have the stomp from the car to the actually works building. And it's about 10 times as far to go to the loo!! Pre lockdown and previous house I was a mile from the train station and would walk home from there - a good and relaxing 15 - 20 minutes. Now that I live someplace where public transport isn't an option I end up in the car to go anywhere. Even if I was back to the office more there's less reason to go out - half the shops have never reopened, lunch places also so great as it means I save money (& calories?) by packing a lunch but that also means I work straight through and rarely get off my backside. STS please @Brambling
Giving myself a kick up the botty, I have been nibbling. Feeling a little bit sorry for myself will not do, given myself a talking too.
I do have 3 broken teeth, dentist this week, hoping the worst one can have a crown. Arthritis in joints has been terrible since I returned from holiday, can't get the doctors to send me for an MRI or an ex-ray for my knee (the good one, lol) even though I have had another fall and my knee cap keeps locking. Plus side is I am not a horse so won't be going to the glue factory any time soon.
Back on the soup for lunch, will try to get back into having a hot lunch. Need to increase fruit intake and say no to husband offering hot buttery toast / crumpets on the weekend in bed.
Have a good week everyone.
