Gosh @Clutterbug07 and @EskarinaWeatherwax - you both sound so fit . It gives us something to aim for but I think I’ll have to aim for ever increasing walking distances cause I’ve always been a terrible runner.I had a hungry day today so under slimming world rules I had an extra Heb b and would have had 6 syns ☹️B oats with water and a banana
L brown pitta and weighed cheese lettuce - a tangerine
D. 2 boiled egg salad with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, beetroot, cucumber and a boiled potato . Low calorie salad cream measured for 47 calories. - few grapes.I won’t know till Mondays weigh in re weight but I feel a lot less sluggish than I did at Christmas so I must be healthier at least.Hope everyone else has had a good day.7 -
Some great losses today well done every one 👏👏👏
So far I'm keeping on the straight and narrow food wise 🙂 a trip to the farm shop this morning stocked up on loads of fruit and vegLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin8 -
@catfree Walking is great exercise! And i think I read somewhere that for the same distance there isn't much difference calorie-burn wise, unless u were a sprinter of course- which I definitely am not!
So running is totally unnecessary!

I used to run before my knee gave up and to be fair it did make me more toned but it also made me more hungry. Today's meals (last day before WI tomorrow)....
Breakfast : corn thins and guacamole
Lunch : Home made spicy butternut squash soup
Dinner : Roast chicken dinner
I might see if best friend fancies a bit of pottering around in the garden as gentle exercise this afternoon. It'll have to be in his garden as mine is built on clay soil and my flowerbeds at the bottom are like mini duck ponds. It's a good job borage and mint are tough.
My back and hips are feeling a lot better. I can stand up without having to climb furniture now. I'm thinking that it may have been bursitis after my walking day in London. Has anyone ever had that at all? My hips were sore to touch like they were bruised. Thank goodness for the super strong painkillers that I usually try not to take too many of but which came in very handy while the pain was bad.8 -
@catfree I used to have a physical job and loved how strong I felt. I wouldn’t consider myself super fit (certainly not compared to a lot of people I know) but I’m very much missing the exercise I used to do - running (slowly) 3x a week, cycling for transport and and at least one long ride a fortnight. I’ve been off my bike since July with an injury and am not yet able to brake safely - and also had to stop running while injury heals - so am unlikely to ride or run for another few months. Without the walking I’d go mad!
@Clutterbug07 @Brambling thanks for the link and the 😇- I fear this first week might have been an easy win what with dry Jan and all the walking!xGrocery Challenge

@Clutterbug07 - yes I've read the same thing about walking and running burning the same amount of calories for a specific difference. The thing is though that running gets you over the distance faster and then you have time to burn even more calories.
@CRANKY40 - fyi - I'm following your lead and got some corn thins and guac. I picked up the guac from Lidl - 99p for a small pot to see how I get on. It's labelled as "with chilli" but I don't mind a bit of spice to start the day. Will see how it goes - if OH is eating breakfast at the same time there will be wails of "no not green food at the breakfast table!!!" Doesn't approve any veg that early which is annoying as I like an occasional spinach omelet. Of course the solution is to finish my breakfast before him.

Hi Brambling
I've weighed myself yesterday and will use that as the starting point for this quarter. I'll be posting my weight on each Saturday.
Hope that's OK and thank you for running this thread.5 -
Hi all - hope you had a good day . The sun came out here today and even though it was cold it just makes you feel so much better. I’ve been fairly active today cause I do work in a physical role for a few hours on Sunday mornings and then , due to weather, went for a walk with friend.I ate today :
break/lunch - oats , frozen berries and a banana
tea - roast chicken - rosemary cons dry roasted potatoes, loads of carrots and broccoli, oxo cube gravy and 🙈1 Yorkshire pud ( homemade and then frozen)
still I think I would have stretched to 2 but it’s weigh in tomorrow so That spurred me to be good .7 -
