  • I've not posted on these Slimming World threads under this new account, primarily because I've not been using MSE much since the Admins were unwilling to restore my original user after I was locked out due to not having access to my original registration email.Β

My previous account was Stoke and I am a target member and have been for a couple of years now (excluding a couple of weeks during lockdown mk1 back in March-April 2020 - always good to be honest, no judgement here).Β

One of the things I previously discussed on these threads was quite a personal problem to me, but one I know is possibly shared by others on here.

After losing 8 stone, I found myself with excessive loose skin. For me, this was mainly towards my lower abdomen but also round my back above my bum. I can't explain how much this dented my confidence. I felt like I worked so hard and continued to work and eat healthy and exercise regularly only to look like a podgy bloated mess. There were times I even thought that I looked better slightly bigger, because at least I filled my body out more.

So week before last week after 2-3 years of research, procrastination and waiting (since March when i booked), I started a new journey. I had a 360 degree tummy tuck. I decided not to go the NHS route for a number of reasons. I am now in the recovery phase and saw the incision for only the second time this morning. Full recovery is projected at 2 months but 10 days after surgery and I feel more mobile than I expected. Interesting few months ahead.Β

Thank you for sharing, when I lost weight before that was one of things I wasn't happy with but two caesareans didn't help with my tummy.Β

Second time round and I'm very conscious about my final weight and it is a consideration to maybe not go to my ideal weight. I want to be fit and healthy but I also don't want to be left with loads of excess skin.Β
I think financially we could afford for me to have the surgery, but after now 3 caesareans I'm not sure about putting myself through major surgery.

All the best for your recoveryΒ

I talked with the nurses in the hospital and was told that a cesarean is significantly more invasive than the surgery I had and a tougher recovery. My partner had a c section for our daughter and was absolutely knocked off her feet and being a typical bloke I jumped to the conclusion that a 360 tummy tuck was 'worse', I was wrong. No idea if that plays into your decision making.Β

I'll admit the recovery has been better than I expected. Obviously it's early days but I expected to be off my feet and really that's not been the case.Β

Financially, I went down a slightly unorthodox route. Happy to discuss if people are interested but don't want to knock the thread of track :)

Great to hear from you Stoke. I remember you well as it's not often we have a man posting (although always welcome😊). Well done on maintaining all this time and persevering through until surgery. Pleased to hear that you are already feeling better. Do keep us posted. πŸ€—

I think we're conditioned into expecting a weekly result because SW hold meetings weekly @Jellybaby. It doesn't always work like that though. The half pound may be something catching up from previously or just that your body is taking a bit longer. Keep plodding away and 🀞🏼 for next week.

Is it a holiday in Yorkshire @bubbs? Will you be able to eat SW friendly?Β

@Abbafan1972 I don't think anyone else does a cereal like Grapenuts. Did you know there's an Aldi bread now that you can have 2 slices from a full size loaf? It's the Everyday Essentials medium sliced wholemeal. Then there's Tesco Neville's and theΒ  Morrisions medium sliced wholemeal too.Β Β

Didn't have any of my bread today (my favourite at the moment is Lidl Rye bread) but I don't suppose a day or so without a HEB will matter hugely. I might have something with my soup but not feeing very hungry.Β

    Today's EE plan-
B- scrambled eggs, ham (P), fried potato (F) HEA milk
    L- soup (P,F,S)Β
D- roast chicken (P), roast potatoes (F), many veg (S)
    Syns- gravy 4, weekend wine😁

Evening all, been to visit a friend today and only just got home. Β Obviously gone over syns today even without a drink!

Welcome backΒ stoke, I'm another who remembers you. Β Glad you're recovering well from your surgery.

Enjoy your break @bubbs. Β Of course you need to have something off plan if you fancy it - not much point having a holiday if you don't!

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up - bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans - P; S; F
L - gammon, pork, new potatoes, carrots, peas, sweetcorn followed by trifle and double cream! - P; S; F; 14 (guesstimate!)
    D - 2 Ryvita; brie; walnuts - HEB; 5

    HEA - milk
    HEB - 5 walnut halves
    Syns: Β trifle & cream 14; brie 4

OK for syns so far over the week so going over a bit not a problem. Β Back on plan properly from tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed the trifle @joedenise. It's difficult to eat with friends sometimes as it seems (genuinely) rude to refuse a meal they've prepared for you. Main course was good though. ☺️ A 'could have been worse' meal. πŸ€”

Absolutely right @maman. Β Have to say I really enjoyed the trifle and cream although the portion was a bit larger than I would normally have so at least I enjoyed the syns.

I haven't added up my syns for the week so far but will do that shortly and work out how many I have left but I'm sure I was well under from Wednesday to Friday as knew it would be higher syns today.
