@bubbs - Perhaps contact Marie Curie as well as McMillan. As @beanielou said don't ask, don't get. It must be very hard for your mum with your dad not sleeping.
It seems a long time between your dad coming out of hospital and the stoma nurse coming to see him. Do they have a number to call the stoma nurse direct? I know my friend used to be able to just phone if she needed anything.

Have you been given any type of prognosis,?Agree ,ring McMillan ,the national number should be able to help you access the local service0

Hiya everyone
I’ve managed to catch up on the 190 posts!Bubbs, I was sorry to hear what’s happening with your dad. Hope it’s all sorted soon.Hope Coxy’s walk is going well.Sorry I’ve been AWOL. I’ve been off and on plan but I’ve managed to get shot of that big gain. I’ve had an incredibly busy last week but I’ve done an awful lot of steps and I’ve managed to lose a bit.I’ve definitely lost inches for sure- I went shopping on Saturday and I put on some jeans that when I wore them last just about fitted. They’re now massive to the point where I was walking round Birmingham holding them up 😂
I tried on some jeans in River Island- the 18’s without stretch from the Curve range fitted quite snugly but the 18’s from the normal range were fantastic- soft, comfy and I could get into them without undoing them. I didn’t think they would go near me but I was pleasantly surprised.
I snapped them up in blue and I’ve bought a pair in black. My rugby club decided to announce unexpectedly that they’re having an end of season awards bash but I’ve decided this year to be a rebel and wear trousers 😂I got a gorgeous cold shoulder glittery Lipsy top in the VIP Next sale. I also got some black leggings which are made of some fab shiny material that look like the leather look ones but with a shine to them. I got a black blazer from another website and my knee length black boots will go nicely with them. I couldn’t have worn an outfit like that when I was bigger.I was going to go for a walk today but I hurt my knee stepping off the train awkwardly yesterday so I spent today resting it, I cut back on Syns instead.Todays food:
B: HEXB wholemeal pitta, bacon medallions, tinned tomatoes, fried eggs, HEXA cheese. HiFi bar (3)
L: SW ready meal (chilli and rice) salad
D- Speedy spag bol and salad
S: Strawberries, FF natural Greek yoghurt, Choc Shot (1) Lizi’s LS granola (6)
Syns: 10

Morning all, it's horrible here this morning! It was quite bright when I got up so put a load of washing on but by the time it was done it had started raining so have had to put it on the airer to dry.
Nice to see you again @MrsRyan; I'd wondered what had happened to you. That's a great NSV to be able to get into a smaller size pair of trousers. Today's plan looks good and well done on cutting down the syns. That's what I need to do this week after being on holiday and then going out for an unexpected meal last night. I haven't even worked out how many syns I had but I know I was well over a day's worth!
So today's damage limitation food:
B - porridge, mixed frozen fruit & cherries - HEB; S
L - jacket potato, beans, cheese, salad, pickles - HEA2; S; F
D - sausages, mash, green beans, petit pois & carrots - S; F; 3
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - porridge
Syns - 2 BGTY sausages 3
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all! Glad to see you back @Mrs_Ryan and well done on all the NSV's! Haven't shopped in River Island for years - still see it as a "thin persons" shop that won't have stuff for me" but need to get over that idea!
@bubbs hearing about dad makes me think he might have a UTI or some kind of infection, might be worth trying to speak to the GP about it for some antibiotics. Quite common in older patients in hospital because they don't want to drink much because they don't want to trouble the staff if they need help to go to the toilet. Lost count of the number of times I had that argument with patients when I was working clinically!
Definitely trying to be more mse with our food choices @maman, I just need to try and convince DH that shopping in aldi / lidl for most of our food isn't going to kill him 😆 Was so much easier when we in the lockdowns and only one person could go into the supermarkets because he can't drive so I was going to aldi and then popping into sainsbury's for the odd thing we could only get there. Made things so much cheaper (which then meant I spent the leftover money from our grocery budget on treats...🤣😏)
Have been a bit limited on what I can eat this weekend and is appears I may have yet another gum infection so lots of soft, lukewarm foods as chewing is a problem. Luckily managed to get an emergency appointment with my dentist this afternoon so hopefully a dose of antibiotics and I'll be right as rain. Lots of yogurt, soup and mashed potatoes in my meal plan for the next few days I think.

Hello, May i join you. I have returned to group after a long absence and have a few questions i would like help with. Have started at the beginning of the thread but only got as far as page 102 so far, its taking awhile but i am picking up quite a few tips.
I have downloaded the app but am at a loss as to where to find the barcode scanner page. Probably very obvious to most but not a whizz kid on my mobile i'm afraid. It seems it would be very helpful to find syn values especially when shopping. ..Hope you can help.
Hoping joining you will help keep the motivation going.0 -
Welcome to the thread @OWD_nana, of course you can join us.
To find the scanner on the app: Click the + sign (at the bottom in a red circle); click the Food symbol (again in a red circle); At the top of the screen is a box where you can type in the food to find the syns and to the side of it is the barcode scanner; click on the scanner symbol and then hold your phone over the barcode and it will show the syns for that product.
Hope that helps.
Feel free to ask any questions you have, there is usually some one around to answer queries. You are welcome to add your food plans for the day if you think that would help you. You've probably noticed that quite a few of us post our daily menu plans - personally I find it helps keep the motivation going to know that others are going to be seeing what I'm having. Also can give you some ideas of meals to have when you're stuck for inspiration!
Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Thank you so much joedenis found it now in the planner. Makes sense now youve shown me.
Will come back later, just found i have been hacked and need to cancel my debit card. Not a good start to the day. Oh well.1 -
Welcome @OWD_nana. I hope you've managed to find the scanner. I just scroll down to 'Food Search' and then when you choose that the bar code scanner is right next to the search box. I don't think it's the most user friendly app or website. In fact I think they made it even worse as the food search used to be easier to find before.
I always shop on my own @ruby_eskimo. DH decided he was going to come with me at the start of lockdown, said he felt guilty putting me at risk and wanted to protect me🤔🥰. Fortunately, he wasn't allowed into the shops so I persuaded him there was no point just coming along to sit in the car. 😁 I shop mostly in Aldi too and find I go to Sainsbury's less and less (except when 25% off wine 🤣).
Good to see you posting again @MrsRyan. I knew you'd be back. 😊 I remember when I was first able to get out of a pair of pre SW trousers without opening them. It's a brilliant feeling and a great NSV. When is the end of season event?🤔
I was wondering when would be a good time to start another thread? After what @OWD_nana said about so many pages, I wonder whether it can be off putting for people just starting out or thinking about it if the thread gets too long. Any thoughts? What about Tighten Your Belt with SW? 😉
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, fried eggs (P), mushrooms and tomatoes (S)
L- ham (P), fried veg and beetroot (S)
D- baked salmon (P), roast potato cubes (F), carrots, broccoli, spicy cauliflower, mushrooms (S)
Syns- 00 -
That would be a great title for the new thread @maman, in view of the financial crisis we're all going through! Funnily enough I was thinking it was probably time for a new thread. Perhaps Easter would be a good time to start a new thread. We used to do a new thread about every 8 weeks, perhaps we ought to do that again? If so that would be Easter to mid June.
I'll be glad when I've done a proper shop and it's getting difficult getting the Speed in at the moment which is why I'm resorting to pickles with my jacket at lunchtime! I've got plenty of frozen veg to use in the evenings but not very useful for lunchtimes. I've added loads of veg to my shopping list for tomorrow which I'm planning on roasting to use at lunchtime as it's useful to add to things like couscous or even to just pick on if feeling a bit peckish!
