I need to go to one of our our local Asian shops @joedenise, price up the dried beans and do the maths. I've used dried butter beans for a while but IF I can get canned at a good price then it's not worth the effort, same with red beans. 🤔

Just wish we had an Asian shop locally.  We've not got one anywhere near here.  There's a very small one about 35 miles away but when we were in the area and popped in there but the only thing worth picking up were fresh chillies!  They didn't even have any dried chickpeas!  If we're somewhere when we out and abut on our travels I will certainly be looking to see what I can get as they are quite expensive to buy in the SMs!

  • Common theme on stocking up, this is my plan for the weekend. We bought a rack at Christmas to go in the cupboard for the Christmas food and drinks, I'm going to turn this into my larder to try at mitigate against other price increases. I use boiler Juice as a benchmark and got a shock when I see they are quoting £1.25ppl!! If the prices are back to more normal prices the weekend I shall be topping that up too and that should see us 12 months.

My Husband and I were meant to go to a dance class tonight which we were both looking forward too, I drove us pretty much to the door and he told me I had the wrong place. Typed into the SATNAV where he thought it was and that was the business address, I had been in the right place to start with! Funny enough the topic of conversation changed pretty quick. For my future reference 2nd March Mr Banana was wrong 😂
Next week we'll be on time at the right venue.

Our date night ended up as a trip to the supermarket shopping to donate to a local collection supporting the displaced Ukrainians.
But; baby food my goodness they have some really odd combinations

    Evening everyone
Day 4 of being really strict and it’s starting to get a bit easier. I think when I’m away I’m not going to be as harsh on myself but that big gain is starting to vanish. I’m trying to do Body Magic each day- either a 20 minute walk or if it’s too wet, like today, I do a walking workout video from YouTube. WI is on a Monday for these next few weeks- im away next Wednesday and then my friend who takes me to group is away on hols so I’m going to a different  group that is easier for me to get to.
My graduation dress arrived today- it’s from Club L London and it’s not actually too bad. It’s far more daring than either of my previous ones and it’s a body con type, but Club L dresses aren’t known for being generous- and this is a size 16. Definitely moving in the right direction.

    Today’s food:
    B: Cheese and tomato on toast (HEXB+ HEXA x 2+ 4 Syns) HiFi (3)
L: Mackerel, couscous (0.5) veg. Skinny bar (3)
D- LMc Red Onion and Rosemary sausages, baby new potatoes, veg. Skinny sweet chilli sauce (1) Chocolate (4.5)
S: Crisps (3.5) Gin and diet Tango (0.5)

    Syns: 20
    Night all xx

    Morning everyone,

We saw Cyranno at the cinema last night - great film, would recommend - no snacks consumed :) Back again tonight for The Duke.

Boo to the little gain @joedenise , but a small price to pay for a weekend away, especially with a few chips! Don’t think I’d be that lucky.

You sound busier than every @Mrs_Ryan – when is the graduation?

Hope the boiler man can fix the issue today @bubbs

The mushroom tagliatelle was very much improved by the addition of bacon and cheese. We didn’t have any parmesan left, so I grated a mini babybel light instead.

    Today’s food will be:

    B – satsumas, grapes, wholemeal toast, 2tsp jam – 1

    L – tuna, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles – F, P, S

    D – LO bolognaise, will add cheese – P, F, S, HEA

    HEA – skimmed milk

    Syns – hi fi bar – 3

    Total syns – 4

    Have a good day everyone.

    Coxy

Morning all.  I need to replenish some stocks this weekend too so will see if I can head to Asda, even if it is a bit out of the way.  I've found the the local Morrisons is the cheapest when it comes to dried beans etc. but can be edged out by the two Asian supermarkets in town occasionally.  Good to hear you're finding things a bit easier @Mrs_Ryan and congrats on finding a dress!

Our office is closed this week due to the tube strikes (even though I usually drive in - so saving money on fuel and parking this week 👍) so have time to pop on before work today.  Had usual breakfast of ff yogurt and blueberries, lunch is a jacket potato with tuna as a treat for not being in the office and dinner is a mushroom stew that I found in the freezer - it's like a tardis in there I think.  Also found a packet of pigs in blankets leftover from Christmas so may have to cook those up this weekend for DH.

Hope you all have a good day!

Morning all, a much nicer day today.  It's quite bright so am doing a couple of loads of washing while I can.  It looks like we've got a few days without rain so will be able to get the bedding washed in the next couple of days too.  It's great to be able to plan when things will get done!  I hate having loads of washing waiting to be done!

Well done on getting back on plan @Mrs_Ryan.  You're right not to be so harsh on yourself when you go away.  You just have to learn not to beat yourself up but it's not easy.  You have to take the hit and get back on plan as soon as you can.

@annabanana82 - I stock up on tomatoes and baked beans every month!  I top up so I have 12 tins of each in my cupboard.  I generally only keep a couple of tins of each of the beans in there but think I may top that up to half a dozen to help mitigate price rises.  I'm OK for dried beans at the moment but will definitely replace those each time I finish a bag up, rather than waiting until I want to use them again which is what I do at the moment.

@Coxy11 - glad the mushroom tagliatelle was pepped up by the bacon and cheese.  Is it a recipe you will use again but using the bacon and cheese next time or just not bother again?

Hope you get your boiler fixed @bubbs.  Have you got someone sorted to come and look at it?  It'll just have to be strip washes for the time being!

    Today's plan:

    B - eggs on toast - HEB; P
    L - bacon wrapped scallops on pea puree - P; S; F
    D - butternut squash and chickpea tagine, herby couscous - P; S; F; 1.5

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - apricots (in tagine) 1.5?  (if I get 4 portions; only 1 if I get 6 portions!)

    Have a good day everyone.
