hi everyone, sorry for the lack of posting, lovely to read all your updates, i've done a few small crochet projects, zero cross stitch but i have been out sailing our own boat twice!!! as some of you know from FB. I can't stitch in the heat either, i can crochet if i can be bothered to.

drawingaline, i have faith you will complete it on time, its looking great.
coxy, congrats on the ta-dah and special project, you must be doing something right :) I hate decorating so don't envy that task.
charly, garden work sounds like a big project but worth it once finished, hopefully your blisters heal soon and you can complete the SAL

Take care all, enjoy the sunshine if you have it xx

    Afternoon all,

I'm posting from work - sssshhhh don't tell anyone!

I spent a very satisfying half hour winding new skeins of silks onto bobbins on Sunday. These were new colours bought for PL Italy. All now put away in their storage boxes. I will look at the haberdashery shop chart tonight and spend some time putting it all together in a project bag. Will hopefully be able to make a start next week.

In decorating news...we have finished painting the lounge. Need to wallpaper the alcoves but having a night off tonight as I won't get home until 6.30pm and DH wants to go for a drink with his mates. We have shutters being fitted in there tomorrow morning, so just need to clean the windows and frames. I'm secretly hoping DH will do this after WFH - fingers crossed.

I am still contemplating my side hustle using fat quarters and some of the charity shop haberdashery haul. Just haven't the head space atm but hoping once the decorating calms down and DD and DS2 are settled into uni, I will have more time. DS2 goes on 18 September and DD on 24 September. I will be away walking then, so looking like October at this rate!!

Kudos to you @nmm for your life on the ocean waves - a braver woman than me!!

Hope you're all going well - send news!

    Morning all,

Sorted through my DMC thread collection last night with the Haberdashery Shop chart. I need 9 colours! TBF it uses a lot of colours so I'm not surprised. Also found a HSC Christmas Chart that I bought on the bay of E. It's Jingle Bells and only uses 8 colours, but I'm missing 310 black - sure it's around somewhere, so must check my other crafting bags! I will need green fabric for that one. I'm going to order all threads and fabric in one hit, so only one postage charge.

Hi Coxy and All, The Haberdashery Shop looks busy! Reminds me of the one I used to visit with my mum as a child, especially all the little drawers behind the counter. I’ve done the ladybird. Now on the bird box, so just the snail. Then I want to stitch something for my work colleague before she leaves on 19th. I had to order mine from Luv Crafts as we’re without a craft shop in town at the moment.
     Sounds busy in your household.

    Hi all,

Yes @Charly27 that's the type of shop I'd have if I won the Lottery and didn't have money worries lol! I didn't manage to order anything yesterday as was in and out of virtual meetings (how rude). In the office today and wallpapering the second alcove in the lounge tonight so will take another look online at LoveCrafts tomorrow.

Loving the ladybird - not long until it's complete. Is it for yourself or someone else? I'm sorely tempted by the latest Cotton and Twine box with the Hallowe'en design - must resist!! What are you thinking for your colleague?

Hi all, birdbox finished, just a snail left before the big TaDa. Well unless I decide to stitch the words ‘how does your garden grow’ as a few people have. Coxy I think I will keep it for me, I’m just not sure whether to turn it into a tote bag or a cushion yet!
My extra colours & some Aida arrived from Lovecrafts yesterday so as soon as I’m finished I can start on my project for my colleague. I bought a couple of books by Emma Congdon in The Works at the beginning of summer. This one

    Has this design in

I think it’ll be perfect for her and I’m hoping it’ll stitch up quick. The finished size is 18x23 (7x9”). She loves bees, and is very passionate about stepping lightly on the earth and it’s been a privilege and pleasure to work with her. She’s the one I stitched the HSC sampler for when she had her baby. Who was 2 in April! She’s made a difference in my workplace for sure. Right stop waffling and get on! Have a good weekend folks x

TaDa - excuse the wrinkles, not ironed it yet. Stitched the snail whilst DH watching GPrix. I changed a few colours and added a couple of new details. Glad you like the next project Nmm. I’m going to start the new one tonight!

    Hi everyone,

Lovely ta-dah moment @Charly27, will be interested to see what you do with it. I love the new project for your colleague too, not too gushy. I have an aversion to designs with slogans on!!

Sad news from the palace last night and the wet weather is certainly reflective of my mood today. We have been asked to wear sombre colours if conducting official business during the period of mourning. I'm only in the office on Tuesday next week, so will dig out something suitable.

Managed to order the threads and fabric from LoveCrafts and the package was delivered this morning. Luckily they use a courier service rather than Royal Mail. I'd love to make a start on Sunday but we are still decorating. Need to give the landing walls another coat of paint (First coat on Wednesday, and I did the hallway walls last night after WFH as DH was in Birmingham and back late). After that we plan to wallpaper the long drop wall which should be expletive-filled.

It's my birthday tomorrow and we are meeting up with my sister, BIL and my Mum. Think a pub lunch is on the cards, but I need to see what's available.

Hope everyone else is going well.

  • Sad news indeed Coxy.
Hope you managed to enjoy your birthday and the decorating continues to go well. DH and I have never papered together!
    Update on latest WIP.
