Hi all, spends to declare. For a friends birthday a jacket 11 coupons, a jumper 5 coupons and a pair of jeans 6 coupons totalling 22 coupons but I am halving it as it was a joint present so OH has made a contribution
. I know it seems a lot but this friend is tiny, wearing age 11-12 so it was financially doable. I really wish I could fit into childrens clothes but even if I lost loads of weight it will never happen
. Also I have ordered the cricket bingo t shirt for my nephew so 5 coupons there but goodness knows when he will get it as he has just flown out to India to, yes, watch some cricket and I have no idea when he will be back, probably after Christmas. He got back to the UK after touring around Europe and within the week he was off but as he is still homeless he can stay as long as he wants. He has most of his belongings in storage and when he is not away working he stays with friends. I think he may be off to s. America with the current tour after Christmas so I expect he will land back in the middle of January. I will send it to my sister who can store it until then as he will probably pay them a visit before he heads off again
. So that's 52.5 coupons - 16 = 36.5 remaining. I think some of these will be spent soon as I have a couple of vouchers to spend. I will probably go for t shirts as those I have are starting to look a bit shabby but it will depend on what I see when I get into the shop and as it's winter I might be lucky to find any.
@flamingo747 re diabetes I was diagnosed type 2 about 14 years ago and initially I did find it a bit of a trauma but I attended a patient expert course and it really helped. It is amazing how much bad advice there is out there, even from some un trained nurses I have come across, but what I was told on this course was that I had to have carbs at every meal. There are carbs and carbs of course and the key was to think about the type of carbs, go for slow release, and to think about portion size. I was also told that no food was banned but instead of having a bar of chocolate just have a couple of squares. It works for me. I don't know if your husband is type 1 or 2 but there is an organisation called diabetes UK who give lots of help in the form of receipes etc. that might be helpful. Some of the medication, especially metformin, can have unfortunate side effects which while they help with weight loss make life difficult. There are alternative forms which work just as well without the side effects. I was initially told within 2 - 3 years I would be insulin dependant but here we are 14 years later and still doing ok with a couple of tablets a day, my blood sugar, cholesterol and bp are stable and even good so don't despair it is doable, hugs
Take care everyone8 -
Sorry to hear about your OH's diagnosis, @flamingo747, but he sounds like he's determined to get on top of it and that's reassuring advice from @Liverpool_Anne.
Charging myself 12 coupons; our local M&Co is shutting down with just 1 week's notice & everything's half price, so I nipped in in passing today to see whether there was anything suitable for Mum, who's "grown out of" all her clothes again. Sadly, not really; not a lot in a petite size 20, and most of what they did have was party stuff laden with sequins, which she abhors. (I don't take after her - the more bling the better!) But there were one or two bargains in my size; I really didn't need anything, but with this particular winter in mind I picked up a pair of plain tracksuit bottoms - can be worn over leggings or similar on days when I'm not going out - and a maroon cotton polo neck, which will go under at least 4 of my woolly jumpers nicely, and is better for my colouring than navy blue or black. I may have another snoop around tomorrow, but with Christmas presents in mind. Towels & bedding had some great bargains, but we're already swamped by the things; no more until some of those wear out!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)3 -
Thanks @Liverpool_Anne that's fab to hear
Yes, type 2. GP saw him today and was very pleased with his progress, so hopefully his next review in 2 months will be great too

Good evening,
I don't want to put temptation in anyones way but T@ft have a 20% sale plus 50% on a couple of their gift boxes.I have purchased the dinosaur box (that was half price). I plan to give part of it to someone, as a Christmas present, who has a grandson who is 15 months old. (Book plus one ball of wool). I will keep the other two balls of wool for future use. I have also purchased a zebra slipper sock pattern. As I have small feet I have bought the junior pattern and will just make it a cm or two longer. The price was 1/3 of the price of the adult.pattern/wool.(Fell asleep on the couch around 10pm, woke up at 11:30pm. Can't get back to sleep - too much noise with a certain DH in bed next to me snoring).2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

It always makes me smile when I read complaints about husbands snoring - not that I don't understand, I do, and used to feel the same way, until Mr E had that cranial fracture and then the brain bleed six days later - for a very long time I was awake much of the night anxiously following his breathing, terrified he would simply stop - so now when I wake up and he's snoring, it's a lovely, lovely sound to my ears!
Also, we find it works on either of us if the snoree gently shoves the snorer and murmurs to them to "turn on your side, love, you're snoring"...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

My husband's snoring was dreadful. It turned out it was sleep apnea. Very quiet with his cpapMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
