Maybe because the majority of men wore braces to keep their trousers up by the late 1930s in Britain and belts were an uncommon thing for them; women's belts tended to be made from the fabric that the dress was made from.
So buying a belt would be a very uncommon thing - to the extent that "a belt" in 1930s novels very frequently means a suspender-belt - "an evening-belt" or "a new belt" both frequently mean a suspender-belt/ girdle/ half-corset...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

A little bit of off-the-ration shopping today: a charity shop find of a jumper in a lambswool/polyamide/angora mix, and some pretty yarn. Part of me is saying the jumper was a silly buy as I didn't need it and it will be hard to wear due to being cropped with 3/4 length sleeves... but it's gorgeous to handle.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Good morning All
@pennywisesheeb As far as I can find out, belts were coupon free, so yours is too. I’ll update the front page.
I have a spend to report: 4 coupons on 200g of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature Sock yarn in the Blue Tit colourway. (Yes, I know I’m already over. I pinched the coupons from DH.). Why did I buy it? Well partially because I needed something I could knit in the car - we’re driving to Manchester on Friday for Saturday’s Rugby League World Cup Final - and partially because of this fellow, who I spotted from the kitchen window last week:
- Pip
ETA: I have totally screwed up my signature's paragraph spacings today. Noticed it had reverted to an old one and tried to correct it."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
8 - 4 x 100g/450m skeins 3-ply dark green Wool Local yarn

Today I'm wearing it over a scarlet long-sleeved top, just the standard supermarket over-lycraed long-sleeve t-shirt thing - it looks fine, and the sleeves work surprisingly well! I also wear the cardigan with shirts with their sleeves rolled up to just below my elbows.2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

After reading about the quality of cashmere items I have now finally started to part with a collection of my such said items via ebay. I do have 2 vintage cashmere jumpers which belonged to my mother. It is not (dare I say it) cold enough yet to wear as they are very warm.
I am now in the process of moving said items and saving for the quality one. This will entail a trip up very north and will probably be an overnight stay - just becauseThis is my process of reducing clothing and future proofing my wardrobe and pennies for when I retire full time.

I did a thing...
... with the last 6-coupons-worth of fabric - two scoop-neck, ¾-sleeve t-shirts and, with the offcuts, two more pairs of nicks! I'll be dead posh if I fall under a bus, now...
Seriously, there's a fair bit left, possibly enough for two more pairs of "underthings", but it's possible that you can have enough! Plus I'm just about out of picot-edge elastic. Any ideas for small things I could make with the offcuts? Doesn't have to be garments; I'm just stumped for ideas of what to do with small bits of cotton jersey.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -

For the offcuts, how about pincushions? If there is enough fabric, you could make the type that can be worn on your wrist, perfect for dressmaking.

Pincushions - thank you, Pip, why not?! Hanging lavender hearts have also occurred to me; DD1's boyfriend has just delivered another 4 containers of lavender, and I have lots of snippets of ribbon to use up.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8

How kind of your husband to step in with unused coupons, @PipneyJane!
And the tops/knickers sets are really sweet, you will be setting a trend @thriftwizard
