Thanks @maggiem, @Chrystal, @jwil, @mark55man, @MovingForwards, @beanielou, @savingholmes, @in_need_of_direction, @Sunshine_girl2, your kindness is much appreciated
The past few days have been tiring and stressful. Grief and money do not mix well and there was no will so the sniping has begun
I am down to my last £6... thinking I can get to tomorrow with a NSD. I paid a cheque in so hoping it clears for Friday to let me out of frugal hell. There are financial demands on me but trying to hang on and take it day by day. I. don't want to withdraw from an account where I would lose a bonus...
I called my solicitor today and spoke to him. He had not got a copy of the memorandum of sale. He chased and has it now. He also spoke to the EA. Apparently my seller has found a house. Now her seller needs to find somewhere. The chain is incomplete but progress has been made.
Spent hours doing job admin. Also phoned the job to discuss some details of the contract. it s sort of ok. won't really know until I start...
Registering the death with family tomorrow. Then a counselling session.
Hope everyone is ok

sometimes you just need to see how some people are so poorly unprepared for life and its ending to make you feel a bit better about your own position, however hard it is. I'm sorry to hear your relatives may be getting fractious - but as I understand it without a will there are pretty clear rules about who gets what - its just that these rules don't listen to what the dead wanted or the living expected.
for you own peace of mind you could put a post up on the death and probate board and/or the legal board where you will get some helpful advice so you understand it and can maybe calm things downI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

It's good to hear how well you sound like you are coping. I think that makes life easier for others as well.
Stay strong.

Just catching up with everything ..
Sorry to hear about your relative . Also sorry to hear about the magpie/ vulture situation that comes with no will etc .The only thing to add there , is that you know what's what and can rise above the shenanigans and you'll be able to move on from this .As for the job situation , it seems best to go along with everything for now .Change is life , and you are adjusting to everything thrown your way .Thankfully / hopefully , the wheels have finally started to turn in favour of your Hse purchase. After all you've been through , ( an awful lot over last couple of years) it's about time you get the Hse and eventually put all this behind you ..4 -

Thanks @savingholmes, @MovingForwards and @in_need_of_direction
Thanks @mark55man I am pretty clued up on death and the implications of no will. As @MovingForwards says, money brings the worst out in people, so there is a lot of sniping
Thanks @Brie I totally agree with your high school principal.
Thanks @another_casualty I do seem to able to rise above the shenanigans to an extent
I am going to do the job until at least Christmas and see how it goes.

Today is a relief day. I survived on very little this week despite demands on me for money. It all paid off (so to speak) as today there was cleared funds in my account. This means I saved my bonus by not touching some funds I have set aside for house related costs.
I paid towards drinks for the family wake.
I put some money aside for a young relative's birthday card
I gave my lovely friend some money for petrol after she came and picked me up from the countryside. She didn't ask, never does, but I don't want to take advantage of her generosity.
I paid some outstanding money for the cottage last week
I now have some cash for pocket money so I bought lots of lovely veggies and salmon. I also treated myself to coffee and cake.
This week has been about being quite frugal. It may not be MSE to say so but having money to spend on discretionary purposes is important to me. I need enough to be able to do this.
Another lightbulb moment was I seriously underestimate how much I spend on gifting to family. I am happy to do it but it needs to be realistically budgeted for
Tomorrow is a hard day for me. I will be leaving the house just before 6am and won't be back until very late. So, today has been paced well and relaxing.
I still have the M0nz0 frog to eat. I feel it will help, especially as I will have more income once I begin the new job. I want to see where my discretionary spending goes. I also like the idea of rounding up and saving those roundups...
Happy weekend everyone
