Thank you @jwil I seem to have made up for it by doing nothing much today!jwil said:Well done on tackling the frogs and great news on the refund for the delay (however annoying it must have been!)
Thanks @MovingForwards let's hope both our new jobs give us job satisfaction
Thanks @enthusiasticsaver. I hope it works out

So today, the weird unsettledness continues. I'm assuming being by myself and having the chance to breathe and think has led me to reflect on things. Change is good but the downside of the job is feeling my creative work will inevitably be affected. I had hoped to pursue this, but working 4 days a week doesn't leave me much time.
I've been in touch with someone from my last organisation. It has made me remember I didn't really want to work again for an employer. I have definitely gone 'off plan' I keep reminding myself I am the boss of my own life. I don't have to do the job for years and years. I will do it until I get the house, then I will review the situation...
I had a NSD today so that's good.
There is a farmer's market today but I didn't go. It is quite overpriced so I left it.
There is a great cafe but this trip I will have tea and cake there once. Saturday will be nice with a newspaper.
There is a great F&C shop, saving this for Friday. I bought some organic salmon with me (already frozen) in a freezer bag so I will just have chips.
Being frugal is getting on my nerves on this trip, but I am scared to spend when I don't have the house yet. I am very thankful this sort of thing is temporary.
It does make me realise I don't want to be too frugal in later life.
I hope everyone had a good day.

It's not permanent but a stepping stone to reach a goal. I did it myself to buy a property and stayed longer than planned due to the world changing, now can focus on what I want to do.
Being frugal is fine to get that footing, it doesn't last forever and when you have a new budget you'll be back on track with that side of life too.
It is hard, does seem to last forever but the end will be in sight soon.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Thanks @MovingForwards. I agree with you on all counts!
So, up this morning after a decent night's sleep and determined to have a good day and shake off this bad feeling.
Thinking about what I can do to help.
Cutting down the amount of time I am online. Allowing an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening. I've noticed it makes me edgy, especially my constant checking of RM
Limiting myself to the news at 6pm, as constant bad news is affecting me too.
Doing some creative work (it can't be harder than worrying about not doing it!)
I have been to the local SM. In the morning they reduce items by half. It gets cheaper throughout the day but half is fine by me. There tends to be lots of f&v and organic too. I think most people buy f&v at the farmers market. I treated myself to non YS apples as they were organic and looked good.
I now have £10 in cash left.
Today I will be doing roasted veg with fresh tuna kebabs and salad.
I have cherries reduced from £3.50 to £1.44

I relate to the wanting to have a decent cushion finance wise later in life and how difficult it can be to also do creative projects while working.

I agree that it will be worth working a while to ensure you can get your home and then review it later."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4

It can be difficult pursuing creative projects whilst working but I must find a way...

The unsettled bad feeling came home to roost as my latest much loved relative died. It is sad, but this relative was tired, in pain, was older, had buried a child at the end of last year and was ready to go. All my sad feeling are for myself.
I am best out of it for a few days...I don't know if I can cope with another family funeral, but I guess I will.
When a person goes I ask myself did I do right by them? Did I make time for them? I can answer yes on both counts so I don't feel guilty.
More than ever I need to be in 'my new life' as time feels so short!
@julicorn has a complete chain after waiting 3 months. She has longer to go and this gives me an idea of how long I will need to wait if I want the house I have been accepted on.
Before I got the news I had actually done some creative project work
I've been good with my budget. Shows I can do it.
This afternoon (if I can stand the heat) I am going to walk to the tiny church and light a candle for my relative and say a little prayer. I will drop a few letters into the PO. Then I will treat myself to tea and cake in the posh cafe.
Have a good day all.
