Regarding dentist, I have a dental plan approx £20 a month. This means that the six monthly appointments are covered. Plus there is a % off of any treatments I will need.
Not for everybody. If this dentist is one that you would still be using, it may be worth considering . The one thing that I don't trust with dentists is thst when they are feeling the pinch, they try to talk you into 3 monthly checkups etc which I will not tolerate .Hope the tech thing gets sorted .2 -

Thanks @MovingForwards
There is a pool I have my eye on. I will keep you posted...
Thanks @another_casualtyYour dental plan sounds great. I. have a good dentist on the NHS and sticking with them for now. Yes, will let you know how the tech issues go...
Thanks @savingholmes
So today the trial started. It was a long journey. I was dehydrated and fasting. The stress and rushing about in the hot sun did not help so ended up feeling unwell! It took 2 hours and 20 to get there. The room was in the basement with fluorescent lighting and no windows. I. did half the required as I was unwell. Came home, had a shower and a snooze and feel ok now.
I had my BP taken and it is good! Not had BP done since 2019 so that was a relief. My weight is down. A also good.
I. went into a Bodpod. It measures fat, muscle etc. Not so great but good to know and not as bad as I suspected. Over the past 8 years my bodily fat has increased by 7%. I'm confident exercise can change the fat to muscle ratio.
I. found out how many calories my body needs. Another way of calculating all be used next time that has an even higher level of accuracy.
At my next session I. will do the other calorie requirement test. I. will be able to get cholesterol info from blood tests and they look at a triglycerides too. (Triglyceride levels should be measured when you have a cholesterol test as they can also contribute to your risk of developing heart disease, and other disease of the heart and blood vessels.)
I will have a fasting insulin test and Hb1ac to look at blood sugar over a 3 month period
The impact of exercise on all my markers will be examined and data shared. I. will be walking for an hour a day to see the affect.
The professor was lovely and had time to explain so many things.
I. feel lucky to be part of this trial.

That trial sounds fascinating. I hope it goes well"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

The trial is very good so far. I am back tomorrow for the next part.
Busy day...hospital...family...picked little one up from school...met a friend to pick up the key for the cottage next week. I. barely ate or drank enough again
So today I had an interview. It has been tricky finding the right jobs to apply for. I needed something I could do partly from home and it needs to be p/t. I wanted something stimulating and worthwhile, but I did not want it to detract from my creative energy as I have other work that is important to me too. I took a test related to the job yesterday. Both went ok. I thought I did well. I did do well. This evening they called and offered me the job! I am very pleased as it means:- I can apply for loan against the job for the small shortfall for the house.
- I no longer need to access pension funds earlier than planned, therefore I have the maximum pension when I take it (important as it rises with an unlisted CPI every year as long as I live)
- I can begin to build up some DC pension again
I hope everyone is okIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
