The Red Cross is a good place to start for the wheelchair. They do rent them in certain circumstances so might be worth getting one of your relatives to give the closest branch a call
all sounding good on the house buying and very sensible to keep your options open xxslowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T4 -

Hi DIA - I am glad you have others to help with this relative.
It does sound like you like me need to practice your own self care at the moment. It sounds like you are finding small ways to do that.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just catching up ..
Regarding your relative , it may be worth getting an occupational therapist to visit their home . For this they would have to get in touch with their doctor. Has your relative got carers visiting ? It sounds like you have been doing the lions share of the caring , but maybe it's time for them to have a career ( probably day and night approx a half hour each time ) . The occupational therapist would assess furniture in the home etc and advise .
It's a thought , but in the last few years my mum was alive she had an occupational therapist in , plus 2 carers . I could be wrong in my assessments but it seems so long ago now , and just a thought . PIP is another consideration . That'll mean an assessment ( a little stress at the thought , but as your relative is using a wheelchair already then they should receive extra money a month . Something to consider .With a grant there may be a chance of getting the wheelchair plus other things if needed , but if you have things like new bathroom etc then the cost would be paid back to council if homeowner and you sell . It may be also a good idea to ask on benefits board here ..
All cheerful stuff..
As for conveyancer , just avoid the young factory type conveyancing service and get a small ' proper ' outfit .
I'll leave it there ..😼5 -
Was also going to suggest occupational therapist, also I don’t know your relatives diagnosis, but is there a specialist nurse involved, they are usually v good at sourcing things4

I think you can self refer to Adult Social Care in your area for an assessment. Thay have been brilliant for me and grab rails etc fitted for no cost, if your relative is of retirement age you maybe able to claim Attendance allowance Hope this helps4

do you or the relative or other family members have any connections they can call on? I'm thinking of organisations such as SSAFA if someone was in the forces or Bank Workers Charity if the relative worked for a bank. maybe something union or industry related??
these organisations will have grants available that might help.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Our local town has a charity which rents out equipment like wheelchairs etc for a nominal charge so is there one locally which will help for your relative?
