Thanks @another_casualty I know you don't like oysters! No frogs have been harmed in the postings on my diary
@MovingForwards and @savingholmes thanks for the encouragemententhusiasticsaver said:So pleased your offer has been accepted on your potential new home and hope it all goes well.
Yesterday I scoured the RICS websites and now I have a hit list of building surveyors in the area. Quotes were roughly half the price of the aerial-shot-bells-and-whistles surveyor I initially found and got a quote from. That closes the shortfall by another few hundred pounds. I am out today so I will make calls tomorrow morning and obtain some written quotes.
I had good news yesterday! My relative is out of hospital and back home. I will visiting today. I. also have counselling. I. will see DS and the little one. I. will visit my favourite CS too. Lunch packed, so there is no need for frittering.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Thank you @Sunshine_girl2 @jwil @savingholmes
Well my busy day did not go to plan.
I did all I said I would and had a lovely day. Then visited relative, but the scene at the relative's house was not predicted. Yes, relative was home but only due to a self discharge against medical advice! Relative very nearly died but rallied the next day. Refusing to go into hospital but now agreeing to medics visiting. Eating and drinking now. There is a likelihood of relative being with us for a while. But as that old Calsberg used to say... Probably.
I. have calmed down on the frog-eating flurry. My time for the last 3 days has been spent with relative. Today will be the last daily visit and now I will visit weekly as there are many of us who can and will support.
House wise, all that needs to be done has been done. The rest is dependent on others and just needs to be ready to go. Finance wise I. need pensions to sort out the correct figures so I know where I am in future.
I have a plan A, backup plan B, and backup of the backup that is plan C for finances, so I can do this it is just a matter of which way I go.
I. will finalise a surveyor on Monday. I'm thinking of doing the BS and searches as soon as my vendor has an offer accepted on the house she intends to buy. I will assess her upward chain and go from there.
In a few weeks I. will have the HMRC money that will cover the costs of BS and searches. I will wait until then to see what the situation is then. I will still be looking at other suitable properties up until exchange.
Getting ready to travel to relatives.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend

It's great having options to jump to, if needed.

MiL would discharge herself if she knew it was an option. Doesn't want to be in hospital but isn't doing anything to help for her to be released back into the wild. Fortunately the staff are completely on our side regarding what they will agree to. it's the one good thing about not having POA (yes, i know) that we cannot ask for her to be returned home or sent elsewhere, it all needs to come from her. and she can't say she wants to go home as she doesn't have one as she lives in our home. it will take some major planning if she is going to be able to come back to us and the hospital is quite ok with that (for now at least!)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Thank you @savngholmes @MovingForwards @Chrystal @Brie
So relative is the same. It is clear he needs a new wheelchair to have a better quality of life. Does anyone know of any grant giving organisations that might be able to help? As a family we are going to set up a fund to pay for the chair, but they cost a few thousand for the one needed. We are bypassing the LA as we need a speedy resolution. We were hoping to receive some help and then make up the difference? In the meantime the old one will be made safe (currently tipping backwards)
I am good at sorting stuff out but I need to be careful with relative as I could easily end up doing too much and this time there are others. I'm still recovering from years of caring responsibility (I don't regret it) but now the focus is on creative work (It has ground to a halt|) and securing a home.
CS buy... 5 red wine balloons for £4 and 3 Neals Yard bath foams worth £15 each for £5 for all three!
Tired despite just woken up. Today is washing clothes, car boot, nabbing a £1.50 veg box, roasting veggies and nothing much else if I can help it. Need a rest day
Wishing everyone a good day
