NST January 2022: Janus

Evening all
Had a good day, caught up on some work and went to the cinema late afternoon, really enjoyed Belfast and seeing lots of reminders of my childhood in the decor and clothes!
Has been a spend day as paid for cinema ticket, then called at c00p for tomatoes, b beans and my fave bread - sourdough. Nearly fainted from shock as it is now £1.90, i only bought some at the start of the year when it was £1.65! First world problems i know. Also paid for my exercise class and one for DD2.
i saw Macb at the RST a few years ago - i went because Christopher Eccleston was playing the leadPerhaps you and DD3 can quote some lines from the play at appropriate times/ in relation to appropriate relatives f0xh0les - i used the below quote under my breath many times in my previous job when certain tw**s came into the office:
"By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes"

Started the day with a 5 mile walk with hubby. We chatted about finances & me feeling pressured to work as much as possible to bring enough money in to cover everything, but then I feel I have to do things in the house too, so hubby doesn't have to do it all. Said he's more laid back than me & gets round to things in his own time, but it sometimes niggles me, so I do it to get it done quicker. Was good to get it off my chest!!
Storm Malik was horrendous on our island & I can hear the weather gearing up ready to return overnight tonight...had a leisurely dinner with my book, then listed some things on a local selling page. Two things sold already! Put new zips in 2 coats, then did the ironing. Sorted through January's budgets, not planning on spending tomorrow either, so £40 under budget for food & not much spent in the other areas.
Grateful for chatting with hubby, donations made towards my fundraising, selling a couple of items to top up savingsUse it up, wear it out

Hi all thanks for great company in January, I have barely even skim read all of your adventures - it is formtive feedback week, so I am deep in the mud, of trying to write feedback. I nevere even managed to set proper targets, but I have done things and am getting back on track with a bunch of stuff, and last night my old job sent me an extra small pay, which was great - I guess I will find out what it was for in time. So I might be able to eat in February after all. It will be tight but hopefully if MOT and car service doesent turn out too bad and I get some other money I am owed I will be flush with cash to replenish my savings.
And I shall keep doing the things that mekes me happy - run, swim, take ds1 out on Saturdays)he is getting cabin fever - and so am I to be honest, feed ds2 when he drops by and try not to feed myself too much.

I've just cancelled today's blood test appointment. Feeling agitated and only just realised it should be a fasting blood test. I'm going to have a quiet day sorting through things (packed all the urgent and non-urgent stuff away on the morning of the funeral and now feeling that I can't find anything). Will approach the day slowly and work through things slowly. had already started a retrospective 'diary' of the month (sure I've not put down lots of taxi fares and have receipts floating around loose).
Calm now, put the heating on to take the chill off the house and going to stay right where I am for now. As Beanie said, I've done all the urgent stuff (mum's funeral), I need a looking after me day and to work through things as and when I feel up to it. Even sorting photos and sending them to people who couldn't come to the funeral will clear some space and I'm finding letter writing quite therapeutic.
Grateful for lovely calm day with bits of bright blue sky showing through white and light grey fluffy clouds, mostly cosy (stuff is pushing me off the bed and bits of me aren't under the covers - needed to find my NHS number), serenity, knowing I will get through this, can take my time working through all the phases of grief. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10 -

hi turtles
Just looking at how i did this month -
Just be you. I wanted to sleep more and eat better, do 10k steps, reduce clutter and reduce time on social media. Sleep pattern is getting better as I'm going to bed a bit earlier and reading before bed; achieved 10k steps about half the time; have got rid of some clutter and rarely look on Fb except to do exercise classes.
Budgets - kept good records of spends, food/cat food over budget; petrol below, will try again next month. Bought no clothes or shoes or unnecessary purchases at all. Have now got a savings account for mortgage OPs & have put money in it
NSDs - achieved 10/16, need to be more organised as often lost an NSD for one small purchase
Use it up or pass it on. I am using up toiletries and decluttering is an ongoing process. Also shredding paperwork, i have the shredder on the landing and do little and often
Today i am grateful for beng able to take 3 minutes to look at the blue sky and white clouds while listening to David Gray singing live from the R2 piano room; for getting my washing mostly dry on the line; for nice chats with DDs
thanks for helping me to get through January apple
love Deni

We made it to the end of the month turtles!
@Thrifty_Taylor your OH sounds just like mine! He's so laid back he's horizontal and then he moans I nag him.... oops!
Spend day today. Collected a prescription then went on the hunt for some of those puppy training pads. I have used them for years to line my rabbits' litter trays but they're nowhere to be found at the moment (not at a decent price anyway). So I bought some newspapers instead (insert joke about certain papers only being good enough to be peed on by bunnies). Also had to buy some oat milk as OH used the last of it and didn't tell me. Shopping is coming tomorrow but I needed coffee!
I also forgot my breakdown cover was due for renewal, used £20 of my Feb spending money and £40 from savings. Couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else, hopefully won't need it but would rather have it anyway.
Went through my shopping list and swapped a few things out for cheaper alternatives if they were available. Definitely noticing the prices on loads of stuff creeping up.7 -
