ldee2111 said:What a month it’s been! It’s not been the January I’d planned. The three of us (OH, DS, and I) are covid positive. I have moved our holiday by a week - we have 9 days to be clear of the virus in order to be allowed on the plane. I have no nails left on my fingers.I think I’ve managed maybe 8 NSDs this month. I have saved like a ninja for this holiday and have a decent budget set aside. But I’ll be aiming to come home with some of it.I’ve set us a daily budget and I will be trying to keep our spending down by eating breakfast and some meals in our accommodation, taking packed lunches with us some days, our own snacks, not buying needless stuff etc.Diznay iz nay a budget holiday but I’ll try keeping my ninja head on.2022 is an important year in my life and this holiday is one of my ways of marking it.It’s the year I feared I wouldn’t see when I was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain cancer in 2017 having just had DS. The radiologist told me ‘you will see his first days of school’.So here I am 5 years on. It’s 2022 and this year I will be 5 years clear of cancer, OH and I will celebrate 20 years together, we will take DS to Dizny, and I will be with him on his first day of school.Nevertheless she persisted.8

Evening
Early update for me, NSD 15/16 in the bag. I have spent the day taking things off of vented as they haven't sold for a month, and sorting out stuff to list on Tuesday.
Managed to offload some make-up to my niece and some boots to my mum. I found a few things to list which are too expensive for Vinted so will do eBay.
Sorted out my 5 books for the feb NST challenge and charged up my kindle, where there are 12 books waiting for me. I also sent back a phone case my nephew bought which was mis advertised so didn't fit his phone.
All rings closed on my watch, and 6 drawers cleared out (also from the feb challenge) but for me a to do list is my list of things to do today! I am going to relax for the rest of the day
Today I am grateful for red velvet cake my nephews GF bought, the recycling bin and my paper shredder.
Happy Sunday evening all

Evening turtles. Had weird nightmares last night - about 3 or 4 in total! Must've been the feta I had with dinner!
Up relatively early this morning, cleaned my aquarium and then went out horse riding. Did some physio exercises on the horse (not in public I hasten to add) and then went for a swim to loosen up afterwards. Home via the farm shop to pick up some eggs. A couple of donuts may also have fallen into my basket but c'est la vie!
Will do all my transferring ready for Feb tomorrow morning. Glad it's a short, council tax-free month!9 -
Today I am grateful for time with dc, for getting more steps done, for no work emails over the weekend, for the lone far golden crocus, for my neighbours.

NSD 17 achieved today. Have not left the house, have read, baked, cooked, done laundry, and not much else.Got roped into watching Macbeth last night by DS3 who is reading it one act at a time in class, and is struggling with it - and his teacher who has told them they probably won't do it all, so he wanted to get to the end so he can figure out what it is all about. It was Jean-Luc Picard, and a very strange looking Lady Mac. It was very good, but it just kept on going....
for 3 hours!! Oh well, engaged parent of the year award goes to (drumroll.......) I dunno, someone else probably.
Tomorrow is payday (all hail Payday!!) and seeing my lovely old men that I volunteer with (apparently one of them is 80 this year!)4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hugs to those in need of them.
On 22 NSD today. Went through what I spend in each category. It has been an very expensive month, but at least I saved some money in a couple of the purchases and they were needed. The food for the month was under budget. I booked a coach day trip for later on in the year. Also I made a list of what films that I would like to see until about June. Got 2 free events that I will be attending and managed to get free ticket for another event that I would normally would have to pay for. I will only have to pay for travel on trains and I will be bringing my own lunch and flask of tea from home. I need things to look forward to, as last year I just concentrated on getting bank shifts at work and a couple of the events I would normally go to were cancelled. I made a note to myself about 2 other purchases that I need to make in March or April that is going cost quite a bit. I went to see a film at the cinema at the yesterday, but I brought my own refreshments and brought ticket online so saved £1 on ticket price. Today I managed to catch up with a couple of household chores.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 201310 -

Tired and aching but a good day on the whole. Went to sleep early, wide awake at 0.55 am, managed another hour and a half later on but woke up grumpy and not wanting to leave my nice warm bed. Intended going to mum's church for the service so coaxed myself into it bit by bit. Phoned a taxi but couldn't find some of the things I wanted to take.
Lovely service (it was Candlemas aka Presentation of Jesus in the temple aka Purification of the Virgin Mary - you really don't want to dwell on that bit or the more recent 'Churching' of women after childbirth) and I was only a bit late as they've moved the service back to 9.30 am.
Quite a few people came across to offer their condolences. I handed over raffle/ tombola prizes, donations (one cheque I couldn't find this morning), memento items for mum's friends, filled forms to have mum's name put in the book of remembrance, wrote a note of thanks (from my brother and I but also for the love and friendship of other members of the congregation during mum's life) to go in the magazine and handed over my details so people can keep in touch. One of the people who came to speak to me is one of my local councillors so told her I may need her help with UU and she gave me details of their surgeries (still in the library at present).
One lady gave me a lift back to the bungalow (she took the leftover orders of service to put in her car and think they got left in her boot). Had a long list of things to do today but decided that was enough. Made lunch and settled in for the continuation of the netflicks series I started yesterday with a little gentle decluttering, mainly of my paperwork.
Messaged DS3 for the meter readings. Messaged DS2 to see how pram hunting went - they've paid for the one they liked as it was the last day of the sale. he said they were on their way to see me (had said they would call in if there was time after pram hunting). I asked them to run me to the cash machine (want to give my brother his Christmas money back) and the supermarket was still (just) open so dashed in for drinks and yoghurts for breakfast, got the cash and back to the bungalow - slowly when we turned off the main road as the rugby match had ended and the owners of the double parked cars were off home.
They suggested they might be able to raise a mortgage to buy the bungalow and let me live there but I think I will say not to bother - I don't want to be overstretched. Think I might be better off keeping things small and having some money at my disposal (I can always have a stair lift installed). Leaving the garden will be a wrench but I do want to be home (providing I can keep DS3 and Beloved motivated to maintain and improve the house).
Grateful for friendly faces, a visit from DS3 and Beloved, making progress slowly. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9
