For me I think I need to go to having none in the house.
The other day I had a LOT of chocolate sauce on my strawberries.I definitely need to have none in the house - it's so easy to go back to the old habits of just grabbing something quick. Mind, I wouldn't be counting chocolate sauce as it's not a bar

retiredandskint said:Just quickly popping in. It's taken me ages to catch up on your diary. You've done so well on your PADs and reducing debt. So easy to get into but so hard to get out of. I like your working four long days so you can have a day off especially if you can make it your day doing the things that give you pleasure.
I've had to commute back to my father-in-law's who was taken poorly, went into hospital and caught Covid. Sadly he never recovered. I've had to deal with his funeral, Probate and getting his house ready to sell. In-between this my own health hasn't been the best and although chemo stopped 18 months ago I'm still having blood transfusions.
I feel your pain regarding weight. My orthopaedic consultant lectures me on losing weight before I can have my right knee replaced. He knows I have Lipedema and Lymphedema and no matter how much weight I lose my legs are not going to get thinner. Ironically I lost weight when I had cancer and was told to eat pastries, have butter, full fat milk and yoghurt.
Have a great weekend
Sorry to hear about your Father in Law, what a lot for you to deal with.
That must be so frustrating about your orthopaedic consultant. It's totally blooming different when it's at least partly caused by a medical issue! I still have butter, full fat milk (not that I drink it) and yoghurt. The more I read, I just can't justify eating the low fat versions - there is little difference in calories, and less processing in the full fat versions!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". We've just come back from a lovely weekend in the midlands
I wanted to go to the British Geological Survey open day which was on Saturday, so we thought we'd go for the weekend. The kids had an inset day on Friday so we were able to go up Friday morning which was nice.
We spent Friday afternoon mooching around Nottingham, Saturday we had a wander around Melton Mowbray and Grantham in the morning, and then went to the BGS in the afternoon (and yes, I did buy a pork pie)
Today we had a bit of a tour around, going to Matlock Bath, Matlock, Bakewell, and Buxton, and generally around the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District before heading home. It was lovely and lots of beautiful country up there! We were very lucky with the weather too.
I haven't eaten at all well this weekend, and I fully expected that I would break my chocolate-bar-free record. And I did partly - DH and I bought a dairy milk bar (just a regular individual small bar) to split between us. I had my half, and I found it really sweet! I didn't enjoy it at all! Far from unleashing the beast, as I had worried, it confirmed to me that I just wasn't going to buy it any more. I can't even believe I am writing that, I have tried so hard to do this over the years. I find it really hard to believe that in just two weeks my tastes can change like that. It's not like I've even avoided sugar, I've been eating it in other ways (and will tackle that in a future step). Again, I will take it while I can!
I've come back with a new determination to do more exercise. I'm just uncomfortable and with aches and pains so often. It's got to get easier if I keep at it.
As I didn't really spend anything other than on food, and a couple of bits from the BGS shop, I've ordered a coverless duvet for our bed. The ones I got for the kids are just amazing, and if it means I don't have to wrestle with duvet covers any more then I'm all for it!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". @jwil only on p90 but jumping in as I've been diagnosed with full-blown diabetes. I have about 2 stone to lose. It was a massive shock but am now firmly with the programme. Some cases can be reversed and that is what I'd love to do. I've been massively overdoing the carbs for years and I know it. Plus eating cake over lockdown...lots and lots of cake followed by Marmite on toast. And the chocolate; well, surely it would have been rude not to, with it glaring at me?! After the first weeping and ranting was over, I actually reflected on how lucky I was to have it picked up. Will return with comments on what's helped but wanted to let you know how much I love your diary and how appreciated you are. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx3

Glad the weekend break was good .Good to see that you found out what Cadbury chocolate is really like .@Humdinger1 sorry to hear about your diagnosis . However , it does seem that you are in the right frame of mind to reduce and possibly defeat it . The initial shock of being told the bad news is always the hardest part , but facing it full on and conquering / minimalising it is the way forward .@retiredandskint , I haven't read your diary but you seem to be managing everything really well with what has been thrown at you .Anyway, I'll leave it there ..😼4
