savingholmes said:Good luck jwil. I'm sure you can do it if you choose. I had a good two weeks on SW but have knowingly gone off track this week due to being side tracked by unconnected worries. I did find overnight oats and then salad with fish very filling... omelettes are good too. Sounds like you already have some go to SW foods
I like all of those, so will add them to my list, thank you
I hope your worries ease this week x

The B vitamins made me think of you as they are depleted when we are under stress and you are so busy. Biotin (B7) is very good for our hair too, an added bonus. Magnesium might be helpful too.
I don't want to get into a debate on vitamins, so if it isn't for anyone who reads, that is fine. Just sharing in case it is helpful...it might be something you discuss with your GP?
I take both of these.
Magnesium is one of our body’s most vital minerals. Magnesium helps control blood sugar and insulin levels and the hormone dopamine, making us feel good after eating sweets. Chocolate cravings are strong evidence of magnesium deficiency, as chocolate is a rich yet sweet source of magnesium.
For people who crave sweets and chocolates, 400 milligrams of good grade magnesium, such as magnesium citrate, should be consumed twice a day. It’s the best magnesium supplement for reducing sugar cravings.
Magnesium also has the additional advantage of aiding in a good night’s sleep, which is ideal during a sugar detox.
Hence, when the body craves something, it’s commonly thought to be a symptom of insufficiency; however, the challenging part is that the craving isn’t always for what we need. So, if anyone is craving chocolate, it could signify that they are deficient in magnesium.
B-vitamins aid in the digestion of carbohydrates, such as sugar. When we take sugary foods and other carbohydrates, our body’s B vitamin levels drop. They may help eliminate sugar cravings by maintaining proper amounts of B vitamins in the body.
Wishing you well. I'm sure you can do this
That's really useful. I've got a multivitamin which includes B vitamins, so I shall keep on with that (and take it regularly!) but I might look into getting some magnesium too.

Well yesterday was a day without chocolate and I didn't miss it. I'm sure the cravings will hit at some point this week.
This morning I have weighed myself and measured my waistline (which is probably more important than the weight). I have also restarted couch to 5k. I am walking it, not running, but walk faster on the running sections. I did it before and it really worked, so I thought I'd do it again. 1st walk done, I'm very proud of myself
My back was ok this morning, but it's aching now after the walk. I'll dig out the physio exercises I had before as the pain was in the same place then.

A physio once said to my DH who suffers periodically with a bad back "take a painkiller and go for a good walk".
@doingitanyway - very interesting to read about magnesium and B vitamins. I will order some of those - I can't take a multivitamin or any supplements with iron.
JWIL, I managed a 5k walk/run on Saturday for the first time in two years and whilst I'm ouchy in my legs, it isn't half as ouchy as I expected. I find running so beneficial for my mental health, and have missed it dearly. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?5 -
Thanks in DIA for vitamin discussion.

Well done on doing the 5K - especially if you've had a break from it. I remembered this morning how I love being out first thing and I went out later than normal (6.30am) I used to go out about 5.30 and see the sunrise. It's so fresh and nice at that time of day. I don't enjoy the walk, but I love the feeling when I get home having done it!savingholmes said:Thanks in DIA for vitamin discussion.

Well I've done day 2 without chocolate and I'm not a gibbering wreck yet! I had a few cravings this afternoon, but nothing too bad, probably as I had a lot of meetings today so was distracted. Tomorrow will be a challenge as I'm working all day and into the evening as well for a meeting. I'm going to have to take enough to sustain me and stop me dashing for a snack! I'll be like a packhorse with my food bags
Just cashed out from PA, so will PAD that tomorrow."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
You have inspired me to give chocolate a break too. I haven't had any since Sunday, so 3 days without chocolate. Not as tough as I thought it would be...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Well done on three days. I'm on day 5 now, that's unheard of for me! Like you, I haven't found it as difficult as I'd thought it would be.
