Just popping in to say hi. The compressed hours sounds worth a try. Will work accidentally create things on your 5th day or are they good at respecting it as an off day. Just a thought so you don't get caught up in long days and then extra bits sneaked in.
Hi back at you :)   Work are pretty good so it shouldn't be an issue - I'm pretty good at standing my ground too -  it will be 'sorry I'm not in that day'.  I do once in a blue moon log on when I'm off, but it's very rare and I wouldn't make a habit of it.

although my 4 day week is just part time rather than being compressed working, I love my Fridays off - and it has to be said they REALLY reduce your need to take odd days of holiday for long weekends, too. The only downside is on the occasions when the powers that be decide to turn a Monday bank holiday into a friday....allowing that I already lose Good Friday! (And thank you - you've just reminded me to have a chat with MrBoss about adding a days holiday to my tally in lieu of the late May BH this year that's being changed!)
Oh, good points, thank you!  Darn I'd forgotten about the change to the Bank Holidays, oh well!

Well, I've put in my formal request   They've got 28 days to let me know.  I did have an informal chat yesterday with my line manager and he says he couldn't see an issue, but would need to check with the rest of the senior management team.  Fingers crossed!  I put to start in May, so I might only have a few Fridays left

I've had a letter back from one of my creditors saying they can't accept my offer but offering a 35% discount instead.  It's not actually bad, better than the 10% I normally get, but I can't afford it so will just have to continue and keep trying to save.

My slightly strange litigious neighbour called round today to inform me he was in dispute with the water company and that they were blaming us for a blockage that happened a few weeks ago.  I told him that was nonsense as they'd been round to check our drains and were very clear that the blockage was upstream of us.  In any case, I'd deal directly with them if they felt there was an issue and not through him as a third party.  They haven't written to us, and have clearly written to him several times, so I don't think there's an issue on our part.  He also informed me he doesn't have house insurance so he's probably trying to get some costs back!

There's a formula employers use when you work different hours with bank holidays, I asked for Friday's off when doing condensed hours because that was when my dad used to walk with his friends - I was offered Monday and so the bank holidays were incorporated into my leave.

I vaguely recall that happening before - thank you!
