Glad the banking issue is resolved.

Good that you can manage to get the electrical work done. It will be a weight off your mind when sorted.

  • Get the electrics done while you can. Not only will it be safer and cheaper, you won’t need to try and pin the spark down for stage 2.

Thank you everyone :)  I have booked the electrician and paid the deposit, plus the first bill.  It is hopefully now booked in for later this month.  I've had confirmation that we should get our pay rise in this month's pay, so hopefully the back pay will help replace a decent part of the savings.  It will mean that roughly half of the house is done, we can finally sort the kids bedrooms and maybe the hall and landing, and then can get the rest of the house done hopefully next year.

DH and I have managed to have a sensible conversation about how to make sure he's got enough access to do what he needs to do, particularly in the loft.  I think we've got it sorted, and will tackle it next weekend.  It feels nice to have worked together on something and come to a joint solution rather than reverting to our usual arguments about the stuff.

I'm trying to get on with prep for Xmas and get my shopping done.  I've had some good second hand bargains online and in charity shops which helps, and the kids don't mind about that.

I won £25 on PBs which was fab, but haven't padded it as will put it towards the elec bill.

Lots of positives there, but on the flip side, my head is just totally overwhelmed with everything.

Work is so busy and I have lots of pressing and competing deadlines, combined with lots of little requests for information and tasks.  I'm trying to be good about managing expectations, but it's very hard.  Hopefully I can lose a couple of tasks this week which might help.
Home - I have so much that I feel I should be doing, or I want to do, but I can't find the motivation to even make a start.  Everything seems like so much effort.  I'd feel better if I did some of my to do list, but it's not happening.  I do try and do a small job to help each day.
Sleep - very poor at the moment, I keep waking for a couple of hours in the middle of the night.  Not helping with my mood and energy levels.
Diet - I've backslid on so much of the progress I've made, it's so disappointing.  I'm still doing time restricted eating, but the quality of my diet is poor.  I don't think I've gained much, maybe a 1lb or two, but I'm now dreading the bloods next month as I can't see that they will have improved.  I'm just struggling to find the time and the energy and motivation.
Exercise - I'm still walking to work on my day in, but not achieving as much otherwise.
Money - I'm so pleased we can pay for the electrics, but the fear of emptying the savings accounts and not being able to regrow them is real.  It's not helped as I'm spending on Xmas and little miss's birthday at the same time, but hopefully I can get all that sorted and it's all out of my mental load and the spending will be done.  I should be starting to put money back then rather than constantly draining it.

I agree on the cutting back on crimbo.

My niece recently had a birthday and I gave her a £5 football and she was thrilled to bits!

Well done on finding the funds for the electrician. Great news on the backpay. I have to wait another month for mine.

    I'm struggling with diet too...

    Thank you, that's very true.

Thank you :)  I don't go overboard at Christmas, and buy secondhand where I can.  It's more that it's money that I wouldn't normally be spending in a usual month rather than it being a lot of money.

Thank you, it's annoying that you have to wait.

Sorry that you are struggling with diet as well :(

I've found some real bargains for the kids second hand, it's good fun when you get something they will love that doesn't cost a lot.  One item I bought is £18 in the shops - I paid £3 in a charity shop and it's in like new condition.
