@OWD_nana, I decluttered quite quickly over a few months. But do need to keep a regular eye out. As Taff says I would leave your paperwork mountain do it in small stints but try to deal with additional as it arrives then you aren’t adding to it. Go for a big win by tackling  something that will show a big result. Another idea is the touch once process , which is basically only picking something up and moving to where it belongs or throwing away, Not putting to one side and to think about. Take a sachet of TLC and know you can do this. 😘

I like the idea of touch once ,will aim for that.
it was good to walk into the kitchen this morning and see it tidy and clear ,need to wash the floor today .
I am slowly continuing,have decluttered 3 lbs this week ,but as I had gained 51/2 the week before !
a lot of decluttering in the garden,helped my lovely gardener reclaim some shrubs,looks better already.
Paper pile continues to shrink ,starting to get rid of junk mail as it comes in .

@princesskitty29 I completely empathise, my pup is 6 months old, absolutely adore her and having her does make me get outside which I wasn’t really doing but good god she’s exhausting, it is getting more manageable now, I have a dog walker come grab her for an hour twice a week so I know she will be ok going to her if I ever get to go on holiday or day trips etc where she can’t come, she only walks her briefly the rest of the time is socialising with other dogs. This means I get two windows to have a bath or read or just play Tetris to unwind, before I had the dog walker it felt over whelming. 

Hope this helps, you’re not alone feeling this way, I completely got your description, I think another 6 months and all the benefits will outweigh this initial feeling. I hadn’t had a pup around for 11 years so it was quite a shock to the system.

Saturday- Decluttered 3k emails. 

Sunday- Dragged my aching painful body out of bed in the dark to declutter some pounds in the pool. I know it’s a long haul but losing a few stones has to help the pain. Ordered the serious alternative meds, doesn’t cure but helps. 

This afternoon decluttering paperwork. 

New cleaners coming Thursday expensive but back hurts and conscious they can’t clean around clutter so motivating.

183 Spice pot emptied out 10 years past BBD. Recycled container.
184 More old postcards sorted
185 Two stationery and office equipment boxes merged into one - some stuff to CS bag.  The broken box into the bin.

Haha yes indeed my dreams are keeping me focused!  And also yes i should retrieve my toys as i would be upset if i lost my childhood teddy and dog  
I have decluttered about 50 receipts from my bedroom windowsill and 2 old sauce bottles from the fridge that had the tiniest amount of sauce left in them - now in the recycling bin.  I have 2 CS bags so far but not counting those till they have left the building

@Mrs_Salad_Dodger LOADS of photos of them in shot, it looked so beautiful!  I have managed to get rid of two of the glass ones (turns out I did just have two of each colour for most), plus 2 other random bronzy ones I bought for my SIL's hen do a while back that I never really liked for myself!  I like the book idea, that is what I'm going to try and do.  Read, and straight into CS bag- I want to do more reading this year anyway!

@Floss I need to do that, I hate not finishing a book, but I think I need more of the 'life is too short to persevere with books you're not loving' and give a book a go but if not loving it, give myself permission to stop.  Think that will be especially good with the books that clearly haven't jumped at me since they've been sitting there so long!!

Am so proud of myself, yesterday I did really well with decluttering, reorganising- was on a total mission!!  I mean, anyone else looking round the flat probably wouldn't notice a difference, but I do- my shelves are looking much tidier.  No more DVDs lying on top of the other DVDs, less books piled on top of the books too, because I found some to release back into the wild!!!!!  One of you lovelies on here said that you don't have to read a whole series if you don't want and it struck a cord because I have a series on my shelves that I started the first one and ended up putting it down rather than finishing as it wasn't holding me.... bye bye whole series, off to charity shop you go- it was quite freeing!

So many boxes to go to recycling- did lots of rejigging, combined things, moved things into better containers. Sorted through some keepsake boxes, got rid of MANY cards (tho did keep probs far too many)- in doing so reduced the number of keepsake boxes. :-)

Took all my makeup n skincare off off my dresser, cleaned it, reorganised it, got rid of a few bits that were ancient- it looks so good now.  I even ordered my eye-makeup by colour on its tray so it's now a gorgeous rainbow of eyeshadow!   In doing all that I was able to reduce the size of the box holding my skincare, and got rid of 1 of the tins I had half my eyeshadows in (I did not get rid of half my eyeshadows, just rejigged. Did get rid of 2    ).

Declutter/tasks

• sorted out my tea cupboard- binned ancient ones (some of the loose leaf was bought in 2018....).
• decluttered some old but ok dried fruit into a teacake, which am looking forward to eating some of later!
• had a hand mirror with a broken handle- superglued it, and will be taking it to FILs house this coming weekend to leave there for future visits- for some reason he decided to get rid of the mirror in the room we stay in (not helpful G, a girl gotta put her skincare and makeup on!), so this one can just live in his drawer when we're not there rather than taking up desk space in his house. 
• went through my old prescription glasses and sorted 5 to take back to Specsavers where they will recycle or give to developing countries. They are in a bag by the door, so will go out the door this coming week!

Binned

• random oddments I found when going through my jewellery tray
• some old dry fruit that was well past it!  Not sure why we had so much dried fruit....
• a fake succulent that was broken
• 3 x ancient face oils (rosehip, jojoba and pomegranate)
• nail file that said oils had leaked all over
• mirror compact- had gone rusty and it was a gift I'd never liked anyway....
• 1 tube of VO5 hot oil.... bought a hundred years ago
• ancient Sure roller deodrant
• 2 x red nail polishes- one was goopy and really I dont like red nailpolish on me.  love it on other people, but doesn't suit me.
• 2 x pink non-eyeshadows- so pale they literally just look like my skin, really pointless "colours" I am never going to use.

Recycled

• a TONNE of cards- from current birthday, from old birthdays, from my keepsake boxes. Zillions, gone!
• an old tequila bottle we were using as decoration on the DVD shelf.  Now I have no DVDs lying on top of other DVDs b ut all neat.  Plus, any excuse to buy more tequila!
• cardboard box the cutlery came- most are in the cutlery draw except for like 3 implements still in the box- whyyyyyyyyyy??  bin you go.
• full/completed work notepads x 3. bye bye.
• 1 x gu pot
• 2 x cardboard candle holders I no longer use

Charity shop

• CD x 1
• DVDs x 11
• Books x 11
• 1 x dead frying pan (apaz they recycle)
• sailor hat from lockdown zoom birthday
• wax melts & the skull wax melt container thingies. Not a wax melt person, so going to someone who will use it
• wedding planner journal I didnt use
• Game of Thrones coasters x 3 (present ages ago, never loved)
• silver metal goblets x 4- originally bought for watching GOT and drinking wine like Cersei :P they served their purpose.
• skull mason jar- present, never used
• votives x 4
• bag of jewellery (bracelets, earing, 2 x broaches, a few rings)
• small canvas bags x 2
• candlesticks x 4
• biros x 3
• pompom decorations (unused, for previous lockdown birthday/anniversary)
• a load of Alice in Wonderland tea party stuff, like invites, tags etc
• UNO (we had dos)
• small plant pot
• treat bags for candy x 2 packs (was for confetti, but didn't like these ones)
• Body Shop Charcoal facial soap- don't know if charity shops take toiletries, but unopened and I won't use it as it'll be too strippiing for my skin, so seeing if they can get any use from it.

PHEW, it was a lot!  Will be loads more could do, but as a first comb over, it was good.  today- handwashing
