2022 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

2021 has been a bit of a washout on the decluttering & decorating fronts. Just haven’t managed to summon up any enthusiasm for anything. The bedroom is still not finished ☹️ We need a new carpet 😔 before we can set up the new storage units (so I can display all my yarn 🧶 & knitting paraphernalia)
Quick précis of 2021: first 6 months - one family get together (my side) + a Round Britain Rally trip; second 6 months - a few family get togethers 🙂 + several 3 to 7 days ‘Round Britain Rally’ trips.
The weather in 2021 was not particularly conducive to successful growing. We lost our first planting of tomatoes & lettuces. Our second planting was a bit better - we managed to grow 3.1kg of potatoes (bit disappointing) from ‘eyes’, 14.1kg of tomatoes (including very tasty cherry tomatoes), lettuces, 41 radishes 🙂, Swiss chard, rosemary, but NO olives (& last years brined olives had to be binned ☹️) & a teeny crop of blackberries + a few very disappointing carrots & ten leeks. Several neighbours & a family member were gifted a small amount of hg produce & hm tomato chutney 😉 Also grew some rhubarb but a disappointingly small amount ☹️
Depressingly I was correct that 2021 was more of the same (Covid & gubberment scandals 😖) & was made worse by the ‘BR....’ word 😢
Plus I was unsuccessful in ALL my listed 2021 good intentions 😭 So not too sure about creating a 2022 list of Good Intentions - I will have to mull, ponder & cogitate 🤔
Now to cheer you all up (a little at least 🤞) a shiny new Decluttering Thread - “2022 Decluttering Campaign”
SO JUMP ABOARD THE ELECTRIC POWERED DECLUTTERING TRAIN - 2022 HERE WE COME 🙂
I will start with a very concise explanation of the intentions & ethos of this thread gratefully ‘borrowed’ from oceanspirit 👏
“……..this thread isn’t just about getting rid of things, it’s about changing houses into homes, it’s about understanding ourselves and how we got into a mess in the first place and learning where we need to make new habits to prevent a rematch.
Mental clutter (frogs and long “to do” lists included) and electronic clutter as well as physical items contribute to holding us back from doing other things in life so keep posting for as long as you wish to continue. I for one love reading about … projects … as it helps inspire me to continue to look forward to having both physical and mental space to get on with pursuing my dreams rather than moving things around all the time”
So with the above in mind who will join our lovely new thread? ALL are welcome 👏 Whether you are doing a major declutter or a maintaining declutter. This will continue to be a supportive & encouraging thread - our aim being to declutter our lives of physical & electronic items & maybe even the stress of having too much ‘stuff’ plus keeping each other’s spirits up in these difficult times. A laugh & a joke, a shoulder to lean on & a place to vent (within Forum Rules) - is hopefully provided here. A real bonus is that decluttering makes our homes safer & cleaning easier 😉😉
Gold Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ will continue making an appearance, as well as medals 🎖 🏅
Plenty of options available on numbering the clutter out
2022 in 2022 or 52 in 52 weeks even 365 in 365 days or maybe by room. If you are feeling really adventurous a la basketcase (2018) - you can weigh the clutter out 😉
Whichever numbering option you choose or you may choose not to number, we would love to hear both your success stories & your ways/methods of decluttering - they may not have worked for you but they may work for someone else. All ideas are gratefully received.
I am hoping that everyone who posted on the 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021 threads will also post on the 2022 thread 🙂 + lots of new people 🙏
I know I am a bit early in setting up this thread but it can help to plan your decluttering - ‘To Do Lists’ can be your friends 😉 (Perhaps I should take my own advice & write a Good Intentions list for 2022 🤣)
So join me in my continuing quest to have a clutter free, tidy & decorated home with no hidden horrors 😆

Please can I join for 2022? For assorted reasons, 2021 was pretty rubbish and I didn’t really achieve anything. However I’m hopeful 2022 can be better and feel that clearing some of the rubbish might help to improve my mental health as well, which is currently in the drain. I will aim for 2022 items this year. I will spend some time making some plans over this next week so that I’m ready to smash it from next Saturday.
Thanks

I'm the last person from a big family so have lots of 'inherited' treasures that I have kept for sentimental reasons but I feel I have no identity of my own as my home is filled with everyone else's treasure and memories
Its all got to go - ebay, charity shop or (gulp) the bin!!
Please can I join? This is the push that I need!! I will aim for minimum of one item a day but try for more!
Looking back over 2021 there are a lot of ideas of how to tackle decluttering & I think it might be helpful if I can come up with some sort of list. It will not be definitive but having lots of ideas in one place might be a bit better than my current scattergun approach 😉
Anyway, I digress. I am looking forward to accompanying you on your journey to a clutter free home 🙂
