I want in! I'm a long time lurker, but I finally singed up just for this! I'm going to declutter and weigh items that are donated. I like collecting data, so I think that will encourage me to keep going.

Black_Saturn, a good start realising that more storage is not the answer to excessive clutter 😉👏
Smookle, a very succinct & precise explanation of frogs from Guineapigsqueaks 🙂 Quite often what has become a frog takes less time to sort out than we imagined 😉🤞Lovely to have you back for 2022, Happy_Kitties 👋 Your seat is reserved 🙂
Welcome aboard craftingmad 👋 I think if your name is anything to go by you are probably S.A.B.L.E. (stash acquired beyond lifetime expectancy) in crafting items 😉 Might be an idea to leave your craft room/area until last 🙂 Your seat is reserved & you can get to know us as we go through 2022.
Lovely to see you shabbychic12 & pleased to see that we have enticed you out of lurkdom 👋 Your seat is reserved & we have plenty of people for you to chat to 🙂 As to sorting out your stuff now it is called The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning - it means that you make the decisions as to how to dispose of your ‘stuff’ 😉
Nice to see you back Guineapigsqueaks 👋 Great tips for our new declutterers - little declutters & not bringing extra ‘stuff’ into your home are great habits to cultivate 👏 Can you get the other family members to declutter their own clothes? Maybe you can tell them that they will feel better if they choose what to keep rather than letting you make the decisions as you might just get rid of their favourite clothes 😉😉😉 accidentally (on purpose) of course 🤣 Btw excellent explanation of frogs 👏
Lovely to see you again ThriftyTaylor 👋 Your seat is reserved & the waiting room is filling up nicely so plenty of people to chat to & discuss decluttering tactics whilst we are charging up the Electric Decluttering Train 😄 I think you know where to start though 😉 your bedroom needs to be a restful, peaceful haven - somewhere you can go to & be safe 🙂 & forget about clutter. I have noted your target & am ready with the Gold Stars to mark your successes 😉
Yippee MakingMyOwnDestiny 🥳 someone who is going to weigh their clutter as it is sent on its way to a new life 👏 I have reserved you a seat on the Electric Declutter Train & hopefully basketcase will pop in & share her experiences of weighing clutter as it goes out 🤞Nice to see you ilovetea 👋 An excellent start -decluttering wool 👏 Are you making anything specific?
dronid, Well done on taking the first step & joining us on the Electric Decluttering Train 👏 You are very welcome 👋 First order of business is to congratulate you on your new job 👏
My initial thought is to grab a large rubbish bag & visit each & every room picking up visible rubbish - no sorting & minimal movement of stuff. Once finished, seal the bag & get it out of the house. Your second ‘sweep’ should be with a recycling bag - same again - bag, seal, out 🙂 This should invigorate you & get you started on your decluttering journey 🙂 Once done reward yourself with a sit down with a cuppa & plan your decluttering strategy - jot down everything that comes to mind & then prioritise e.g. if I was starting a new job I would want my work clothes readily available. Hope I haven’t come across as bossy 😉😉 As a last gentle reminder - it has taken years to get cluttered so it will be a decluttering marathon rather than a decluttering sprint & I will try very hard to encourage & support you - as will the rest of our decluttering family 🙂 We do like to celebrate our successes however small or large they are 🙂 but we are also here to commiserate when things don’t go quite so well. We encourage each other to dust ourselves off & resume our decluttering.Lovely to see you bit_by_bit 👋 & thank you for the compliment & encouragement 👏 What a great post - a resounding confirmation that decluttering is beneficial for our health & well being 👏 Each success keeps us motivated & even the non successes can help us discover more about ourselves 🙂 Your seat was already reserved but now has a little sticker on it with your goals for 2022 😄
See you all later, when I hope to welcome a few more people aboard 😁Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Hello! I think I'd like to join too. I've been very much languishing over the last two years while also moving house and refitting it. We moved to Liverpool 6 years ago and spent 4-5 of them in temporary arrangements. Unfortunately not clearing out stuff before we left London or in the last place has left us awash with clutter. Some bits we haven't been able to get at or use, which would have been useful, and some, just plainly, rubbish. Since we've moved I've put off and put off and put off clearing the rubbish and utilizing the house well and due to start a new job on the 10th January, so I am going to have to start.
All support and advice gratefully received!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!10 -
Yay. I was waiting for this thread to appear. Thankyou @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. Yuu are a marvel despite what you say about not doing what you inteneded in 2021.
First I would like to say that the last few years on this fab and friendly thread has been a blessing. I count by bags, big and small. Each year I have doubled what I was going to declutter but also improved good habits.
I would love to rejoin this year. My target is 100 bags of 'stuff' and to read 52 books on my bookshelf (to doneate etc) and make 52 items cleariing my craft stash. DH and I will be finishing the final decorating in the house and sorting though and clearing pictures and photos this year.

Hi everyone, can I join again please? I joined the 2021 thread and posted a few times, I decluttered quite a lot of things with lots more to do. I can honestly say that the 2021 thread helped me immensely. I started off with huge gusto and then faltered somewhat but really enjoyed catching up with everyone's posts, they spurred me on no end.
I'm not sure if counting item would work for me, I think a set of set of goals would help me stick to things. Mrs SD, one of your rules (if that's the right word) has helped me, I now almost always wash and tidy up the kitchen after every meal, thank you
I plan to not buy anything we don't need, clothes, food, toiletries etc and use up the many items that I already have. To continue decluttering and while each space becomes clearer, to clean on a more regular basis.
I have quite a lot of Frogs to deal with and I'm hoping to deal with them as I go.
Enough of my ramblings, I plan to contribute on a regular basis it'll help me keep on track and having read all of your posts over this year I feel I almost know lots of lovely people from here already.
Good luck for 2022 everyone9 -
MrsSD I'm aboard too, if you'll have me please. I'm not going to set myself any targets again, I'll just keep on doing what I can, when I can, if that's ok ?
I have been busy with my little family over xmas, so haven't had he time to post up till now. We missed them all so much last year and refused to do that again this year. Anyway I have today filled the rubbish bin, the cardboard recycling bag, the glass and plastic box and the food caddy ( contained the turkey carcass ) and put it out for collection tomorrow. However I still have more cardboard waiting in the shed ready for next time, as the bin men are not allowed to take anything more if it's not in the bag.
Take care and stay safe

Happy New Year 🥳 --- See you in 2022 !Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8 -
Hello, 👋 please can I join for the 2022 declutter. I have followed the thread for the past year and found so many tips and helpful advice. I have taken positive steps to declutter this past year, with carboots, many charity shop and tips run and offering things for free.
There is still plenty of room for improvement and I have a few frogs I need to deal with. Off to make a list to help me focus on things I would like to prioritise.

Hi, just nipping in to reserve a seat on the 2022 express.
We have has Christmas today. the first time we have all been together for a very long time. I know what you mean now Mrs SD when you are so buoyed by your family gatherings. Secret Santa was a huge success. I received a voucher for afternoon tea. I had other lovely, thoughtful gifts too including a days jewellery making workshop from Mr V. I think he has learned from the electric scissors gift from last year.
I will endeavour to do several things in 2022 to help maintain a comfortable level of belongings in our tiny cottage. My plan is to not buy any clothes, shoes, jewellery. trinkets or shiny things for a year. Not buy anything for the house except needed cleaning materials unless we are unlucky enough to have to replace things. This should be ok as we had to replace the washing machine, kettle, hand blender and various other things in 2021. I will buy new duvets in the sales though, and I would like a new nightie. I have Christmas money from my Mum.
I will use up before replacing cleaning materials and toiletries.
I will use up as much as my craft stash as possible. Currently making a hand sewn quilt for DIL's birthday in January.
I will tackle many frogs to do with the renovation of the cottage and building a garden.
Looking forward to having old friends on the journey and getting to know new passengers.
Vx

As an occasional lurker for the past few years, I feel this year I would like to actually join and make more of an effort. No actual target, but need to concentrate on 2 rooms where stuff is just "dumped" and often stays there quite a while, my back room and DD's bedroom, she left around 7 years agoOne problem is I cannot resist freebies, but I have been donating the food items recently to the food bank and a friend so that pile has reduced quite a bit in the past month or so.Another problem is I hate waste and often keep things in the hope I can reuse, sometimes I do, but more often I don't so maybe I should try and cut back on that.I did freecycle a quite a few things recently and it did feel good getting rid of them and I should try and do some more or at least take to the local recycling/tip to declutter.Hoping to pick up a few tips if I take part.8
