Fizz2015 said:Not much decluttering but destressing on a mini-break in Devon before school starts for DD at end of the week. Off to the Donkey Sanctuary tomorrow and hopefully we avoid the downpours.
Staying on a farm and it's so peaceful apart from the geese in the field behind us!
Will refocus declutter efforts when we get back as have a few days off work and time to actually sort stuff and do charity/tip runs.

Now they are saying the heat will continue here in Southern California. Combined with smoke from two wildfires, our air is miserable. Friday should be okay - just in the high30sC, but followed by two days of rain from a tropical storm. Our usual rain from March to October is 0" - none. We are getting a lot more this year. I have fed the animals, done the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen sink, done my classwork for my Microsoft Class. Today will be frog errand day and car decluttering as we have books and empty plastic bags to go to the library. Will also be taking about 200 empty medicine bottles to the library for crafts and about 20 with pills still in them to a recycling pill station. Have to present our vaccination cards at school as well today and take the tiny dog to the groomers. Grocery shopping, then pick up tiny dog. Followed by volunteer work at the Family History Center.9

@gran3 we love it there today, had a lovely few hours and then an amble around Sidmouth. Last year we could walk to the sanctuary from our campsite.
One thing I noticed I've noticed is the price increases in charity shops and cafes. Guessing they need to cover the increase in overheads. Suffice to say not much has been bought though cream tea and iceceams have been decluttered.

@bit_by_bit enjoy GS , and trust you pass the inspection.
I have a house of doom not just a room of doom! RL means not even getting to do everyday stuff and being let down about my dads stuff.
Estimating now 1350, which includes 1 big frog and 1 small frog today and finance frog.
Hoping at weekend I'll be able to do more. Niece picking her things up tomorrow.9 -
Hi all,
@weenancyinAmerica you are an absolute marvel, I would have to either spend the day in the pool or laid down with an ice pack to survive that heat.
@bit_by_bit I hope you get along with the in laws if the plan is for them to move in, not sure I could cope with it, good luck with that. I am also wondering how the dil thinks you don't know how to care for a baby, really she could express the milk and let you get on with doing the child care, hmmm I think I would be having several "discussions",
Today started out a bit overcast so I did some indoor stuff, mainly corralling what felt like a zillion shopping bags that were scattered around the house, OH never has them in the car boot and just gets more every time, so I put together a small bag of folded bags and handed them over to be kept in OHs car boot. The rest I put in my car boot.
When the sun came out I headed into the garden for a bit more chopping back as the green bin had been emptied but didn't get much done as the rain arrived, no thunder this time but it came down like stair rods. Yes Mrs SD I also love a good thunderstorm
Decluttered a lovely china mug as it had been chipped. We do have a few china mugs as we usually buy them as a souvenir of places we visit but we do seem to get through them
Cracked on with my knitting as I have my next project in mind but I have sworn to only do 1 at a time, it makes it easier to keep the wool under controlI need to try to find some in a cs to keep the cost down.
Tomorrow I need to collect my meds and do an inventory of the freezer to see what else I can use up before I go shopping.
Take care everyone10 -
I got it all done - even when the temperature went to 38C. The next two days are expected to be hotter. So I will have to see what happens. But getting all the bags out of the car for the library sale and the books, even returning roommate's two missing library books the dog helped us find, really felt good. And the library loved the giant bag of medicine containers for their crafts program and their activities program. Up tomorrow for therapy, take a friend to pick up he medications, go to pick up prescriptions for three of us at another place, then grocery shopping. Then going to introduce husky to new toy - supposed to be almost indestructible.
Two of the stuffed lambs are doing okay even though she loves carrying them around. The stuffed lamb outside and the two stuffed ducks, along with about 30 vinegar bottles have bitten the dust. She loves vinegar bottles (large size). We get them to get rid of ants (pour down the holes), clear drains (mix with box of bicarb for each bottle of vinegar), and killing weeds (pour on directly). Relatives save them for us also.9 -
Short _bird I love your comment about "herding" rubbish.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)9

Fizz and Gran 3 I too love the donkey sanctuary, in fact we're going to glorious Devon next Sunday for 2 weeks, so a visit will be on the cards, weather permitting. I also love Paignton zoo but it's now been closed because the flamingos have bird flu 🦩😟
We have finally decluttered the DGC after a long weekend as they're now both back at school today. They consumed rather a lot of food as they had ever open mouths. I did send a bag of bits and bobs of food home with them too, things that they will eat but we won't. I've still got half a chicken in the fridge to use up but I'll have to strip the carcass and freeze the meat.
I took DGD to the craft shop yesterday and she chose 3 things which she started here and then took home, but I resisted buying anything, I don't need any more craft stuff 👼 Ooooh get me refusing to buy more craft stuff !
Today we are going to take my Dad to Tra*o Mills to buy some new carpet tiles for his bathroom. Think we'll be making a day of it as he's already organising where to go to eat lunch 😁
Happy decluttering all.
