Morning all, only one thing into the cs bag yesterday, a hard cover book and then the daily detritus into the recycling/rubbish bags. We had spag bol for tea yesterday because I found that I had "several" packs of mince in the freezer, ahem 😟, so I made a bulk lot of bol sauce in the slow cooker, I also threw in some wrinkly mushrooms from the fridge, now I have to somehow get the portioned up tubs back into the freezer. I'm sure when you take things out other things budge up to fill the gaps 😠
Out today £'s for DGS's 13th birthday today, a large box of chocs and his card. We are going to DD's for his birthday celebration this afternoon where I shall declutter some birthday cake into my tummy 😂
The bed has been stripped and the washing ongoing, hopefully it will dry as it's very overcast but breezy.
Take care all
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8 -
There was a fat mouse playing close to the kitchen and garage doors. I enjoyed watching him go about his day for about half an hour (I really love watching mice, they are so cute!), and then I put out a trap. The mouse is now in the green bin .... Sorry, but it was getting into the garage, where I have my pantry, and with current crises, I can't afford to share with anyone that's not paying their bit.

Made a double batch of Chicken Provençal in the slow cooker yesterday the equivalent of one batch was meaty, the other was veggie and added in extra sad veggie drawer contents. There’s now 4 portions in the freezer for ‘another day’. @nannywindow - I agree things do wiggle round in the freezer! DSis came home with two huge portions of pie from work last week so the catering tub they came home in is now being repurposed in the freezer
.
Another book in the bag to send off to sell to Ziff!t (every little helps) and a dvd in the charity shop bag.Apart from that the general household recycling and detritus has shuffled off to the relevant bins.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday was a dry day 🙂 Plumber turned up about 9:15 a.m. was gone by 10:00 a.m. - he had managed to get the boiler working & temperature up to 56c BUT over the next hour the boiler went off & the temperature dropped to 40C & by the end of the day was 30C 😬 As DH was dealing with the plumber, I will get him to phone Thursday. DH managed a quick bath on the immersion & then left about 4:00 p.m. for a 50th birthday celebration with an ex work colleague & others. Drinks & a meal. As is usual, he had too much to drink, fell asleep on the DLR (standing up 🤔) & finally got home well past midnight 😔 I finally got around to cleaning & sorting the fridge 😉 I was brutal with the contents but not very ‘green’ 😔 Threw away 3 plastic bottles containing ood food + emptied 3 glass jars which I did wash & recycle. Inside & outside of the fridge now both clean. DSis & I had risotto cakes for dinner but DSis feeling unwell so only ate half. Used a kettle of boiling water to wash up.
1408 - 1414 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, 3 glass jars, paper packaging, cardboard box - recycled
1415 - 1419 Kitchen & lr detritus, 3 plastic bottles full of ood food - binned
Thursday is dull, overcast & chilly with the odd spots of rain. Boiler temperature down to 28C however about 12:15 p.m. the boiler suddenly kicked in but after 20 minutes went off again 😖 No idea what the heck is happening 😔 I see an expensive repair in my future 😔 DH phoned plumber who is busy until next Thursday - we will switch immersion on if we need hot water. Boiler problems must be infectious - BG engineer next door 😬
You are very welcome bit_by_bit 🙂 Well done on all the hard work in the garden 👏 Sorry to hear about DS1 & DiL ☹️ Hopefully he can prove himself 🤞
Excellent work Baxtersmum 👏
vulpix, DH & I would love a bungalow but truthfully both of us hate moving house 😉 Excellent decluttering 👏 Before you start on your renovation programme perhaps a couple of days rest & relaxation 😉 Although I am rather amused at the idea that you intend to keep MrV busy enough to reconsider returning to work 😂
Nice to see you GrannyKate 👋 The thread does move rather fast - we are more than 2/3 of the number of pages of 2021 already 😬 It is a sad state of affairs when RL conspires to only allow us to see family at weddings & funerals. However it is pleasing? to hear that the funeral went as well as these things can & that you had an opportunity to see family for a while. Excellent decluttering btw 👏
Wildrose, it is like a light bulb coming on when you start returning items to a newly decorated room - you suddenly become more aware of clutter 😉 The photos of your dad are true treasure - especially if you can share it with someone else 😊 The recipe is also wonderful & I would love to make it 🙂 The only thing I can’t make out is the amount of sherry 😔 so would be extremely grateful if you could let me know how much to use 🙏
Good to see that DS1 coped well, bit_by_bit 🙂 I will be round later for a slice of pie 😉
Sorry to hear about the delay in getting help/support for your friend, teachergirl ☹️ You are a true friend & she is lucky to have you in her corner. Excellent decluttering 👏 & surprise visitors who helped you declutter is lovely 😊 Hope you have a restful & relaxing holiday & that the weather is pleasant 🤞As to the bookcase, what a lovely surprise that it is worth something. Now it is not clutter but a potential source of revenue 🙂
Well done on keeping things ticking over until your decluttering mojo returns, QueenJess 👏
There be treasure in your dad’s loft TC77 😊 Very interesting & as you said poignant 🙂 Do you have a local historical society who might be interested in the post war list? Keep up the good work 👏Especially the inadvertent training of the girls who are not prone to ‘collecting’ 🙂
Yippee to the house being up for sale mhagster 🥳 Well done on the tidying 👏 Shame about the Christmas tree ☹️
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏
Well done on the in & out items for the CS, Wednesday2000 👏
Good luck with completing the clearance bit_by_bit 🍀
Good work nannywindow 👏 Have a lovely time at DGS’s birthday party & enjoy the birthday 🎂🙂 As to the freezer, I think there are freezer gremlins who add items when we are not looking 😂
Siebrie, I am like you in that I love watching mice but only if they stay in the garden 😉 Along the same lines, DD, DSis & I love watching the squirrels & we do feed them. However DH was chatting to someone from around the corner who hates them as she & several of her neighbours have had to pay to have squirrels evicted from their lofts - chewed their way in under the roof flashing 😬
Excellent work florianatwobob 👏 I see the freezer gremlins have struck 😉

More using up today, although I did remember to finally take my two gift cards to the supermarket to see if they had anything on. I thought there might be 5p, but it turned out I had a pound. Took that off my tiny top up shop… it all helps!4057 - bathroom supplies used up

Mrs SD, I have failed totally in getting DD2 to put anything away. Came home to soggy teatowels on the floor - so an attempt to do some washing up, but think I need to have fewer tea towels.
Good news the refugee project will take heaters and other things from my dad's including his collection of extra shoe laces for every type of shoe and boot (they get shoe donations but often don't have good laces) so really pleased, also have sleeping bags and some health/medical stuff to take.
Home for 24 hours so hoping to do abit here.
Take care all, and love hearing about treasure finds, and moments of peace as we declutter.

TC77,I have also had an epiphany in the last couple of days about shoe laces, and I wondered about homeless/refugee centres. EVERY time Mr V has new trainers he wants to replace the laces they come with because they are too slippery and come undone. This results in 2 or 3 purchases of wrong size laces before he gets the right length 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ I am sure I have many unused pairs under the sink. I must look them out. When I was a teenager I used to purposely do a bad job so I wouldn’t get asked again. My worst crime was to make my Dad a cup of tea with warm water from the tap. First time I have confessed that. ! You got off lightly with damp tea towels.
Went to see my Mum yesterday. I asked how she was and her reply was’ a lot better now I’m off that heroin’. So yes she is better if she’s cracking jokes. Morphine btw.I spent a couple of hours in the back garden last night, weeding, tidying, sweeping. I have the day to myself today so will continue round the side of the house to the front. We have rain forecast from tomorrow. We have only had drizzle occasionally for months.Dropped off a small bag of donations to Sally Army yesterday. When we get rain I will find some more donations for them. I think they will be very busy this winter.Brace yourself. I threw some fabric scraps away last night. I am almost finished with the log cabin quilt which is the size it is because it is made from scraps. The scraps thrown really were no use, tiny.Well done Mhagster on getting your Mum’s house up for sale. An epic achievement.Nice to hear everyone’s news. Have a lovely weekend folks.Vx:10 -
For those interested. Pics of the recent work at the front of the house.
In reverse order. Now, during, before.

@vulpix glad your mum is cracking jokes....naughty about the warm tea!
took the stuff to the dump yesterday and the CS, so house is tidy for my sister to dog sit while I am in Scotland. My work man cut up a huge bit of wood that had to go so that was a bonus. Got my case out of the loft today and I like to get at least one thing for the CS whilst there. Spotted a sleek silver box which said " For the man who has everything" It looked like a nice pen box. Turns out it is a silver "executive B**Ls scratcher" 😱😱😱😱😱😱😂🤦🏼♀️ In CS shop bag not sure it had ever been opened😂Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D8 -
Just having a tidy up down stairs before I go outside.I will forget stuff if I don’t write it down now.Out
a sheet I had saved for decorating. Got loads of others.A toffee hammer
Another 7 tea towels.Vx
