1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedThursday stayed dry, so DSis watered the plants. Dinner was Chinese takeaway - DSis & DH’s selections were enough for 2 nights’ dinners. DSis & I started watching GoT from the start.
Friday was another dry day - blue skies interspersed with white clouds & temperatures in the mid 20’sC. DH spent the day watching MotoGP practices, DSis spent the day in her room watching TV & I managed one task - phoned my bank to pay CC bill & check accounts. Details up to date & everything filed. The good news was that the last of the gifted cheques has finally been banked after 4.5 months 🥳 My post is up to date. DH & DSis finished their Chinese meals & I used various los from the fridge for my dinner - a fry up of an odd combination of cabbage, mash, sweetcorn & kidney beans & a couple of rashers of bacon but tasty nevertheless 😋 with the added bonus that I created space in the fridge 🙂 Wudupa. DSis & I continued watching GoT - one season down - 7 to go 😱
1259 - 1269 Kitchen recycling x 2, plastic pot, drinks cans x 2, cardboard packaging, 5 x plastic takeaway containers & lids - recycled
1270 - 1272 Kitchen detritus x 2, plastic packaging - binned
Your energy astounds me mhagster 🤩 I see DB vanished after doing the one job he said he would & presumably before you could ask him to do anything else 😖 I loved your description of your DB - it did ring a lot of bells 😉 especially as I have been rewatching Downton Abbey 😂 As to your DDs - what can I say 😔 Excellent decluttering 👏
Excellent work teachergirl 👏
So sorry to hear that RL is so abominable at the moment, Wildrose ☹️ Excellent decluttering & very pleased (unlike most of us 😉) that you can see past the chaos & appreciate that it is a work in progress & will get better 👏 Sending hugs to you & get well wishes to your sons.Excellent decluttering -taff 👏 You mean to say that you don’t have more cars & fridges hidden away 🤣Brilliant work bit_by_bit 👏 You persevered & are reaping the rewards 🙂 a job well done 👏
TC77, Seems to be a theme - losing posts 😣Liverpool_Anne, your man at the gate is a wag 😂 who knew paint was as dangerous as nuclear weapons 🤔 Disposing of paint seems to be dependent on where you are & how large the tip is 😔 We are lucky in that our Tip does take it 🍀 I have no ideas but I am sure there will be plenty of ideas from our fellow declutterers 🤞 Great work helping your LN 👏 Please try to take it easy - sending gentle hugs to you & DH 🤗
weenancy, Floss, Deni, ZsaZsa - Loving the discussion of how different places deal with old paint 🙂
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, definitely agree with you that mhagster has the patience of several saints 😇😇😇 You are absolutely allowed to count decluttering your mortgage 👏 Sending positive & healing vibes to your DD1.Will be back in a while to catch up on cheerleading 🤞MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🥇 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Still plodding along. Found some more bits as I tidied a few things in the room of doom and got some stuff picked up. I tried to count all the things that came in the house today and it was a bit scary considering we were just at home .. I think I had:
2 sticker sheets
3 - hankies (for DS to take to school)
2 - books I collected free from nearby for DS
and multiple bits and pieces that comes with packaging that DS is currently refusing to throw away. Definitely need to keep on the decluttering. I had a rough figure of 10 things a day in mind, although I won’t be sticking to that religiously since some days I won’t have time or will need a break etc. It’s my current rough guide as to the amount I think I need to stop things piling up and make some improvements.
I looked at a single shelf of books in the library today and since 4 of them were DH’s I asked him if he still wanted them. It was a simple question, but he tried to turn it into a big debate, made it seem like I was pressuring him to get rid of them (not true - I don’t care if he keeps them, I just thought I would ask), made a big fuss, asked me lots of questions about them to force the decision to me, then stated “well I don’t need to empty drawers etc to know what is in there. I know exactly what I have in everywhere” when I suggested each year he should go through everything and get rid of things he no longer wants (suggestion was he is minimalist, which is a laugh as he had more stuff than me, and that I was the problem. We got there in the end, but basically he made it so ridiculous that I never want to ask him again (which I presume was his evil plan).
Anyway, today’s progress:
3702 - bathroom supplies used up
3703-22 - general paperwork
3723 - kids clothes
3724-26 - books
3727-29 - sticker sheets

Been getting OH’s place ready to go on the market so nothing of mine gone out over the past week or so. In between getting things from OH’s, been putting some of my things away and consolidating what is in some of the boxes to save space.
Slowly working our way through food stocks. OH complaining about how much there is, but it’s all in his house, not mine! At least we’re not spending any money except for our weekly veg box which is a blessing whilst prices are so high.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅9 -

867. Old Monzo shredded
868-870 - 3 x bins of shredding -they are small bins but it still took some time...)
871 & 2 - 2 x guttering cleared
873 - called builder / painter to arrange a quote
874. Wheelie bin full of green waste.
It sounds ridiculous but it took a lot out of me as its been so long since I've been away and the last holiday I booked had to be abandoned because of emergency eye surgery!! Hopefully better luck this time !!

DH watched the MotoGP qualifying races, DSis stayed in her room & I watched more GoT. Dinner was breadcrumbed veal, new potatoes & peas 😋 The veal was from my butchers in town but this time cut properly - melt in the mouth rather than prize fighting 😉 Will do the washing up later.

2Scratters, nothing wrong with procrastination 😉 or is there 😉 Well done on sorting the cupboards 👏 Poor DH 😉 How nice of you to help your neighbour - shame that there were so many apples on the ground 😔 Hope you enjoy your night away 🙂
No need to apologise RamblersTrail - you have been busy & finding a decluttering video that resonates is a major achievement 👏 especially when it leads to such a successful declutter & tidy 👏 Well done DH - laying laminate flooring is a skill that not everyone possesses 👏 Good luck finding another decluttering video ‘that speaks to you’ 🍀Well said stymied 👏 the staff at Tips should be as helpful as possible especially as people are trying to dispose of their items responsibly.
Great idea from -taff for RamblersTrail 👏 I have to confess that my DH is the only one who takes things to the Tip (on the motorbike) so I have no idea how well or badly the place is signposted 😉Great decluttering florianatwobob 👏 & well done for disposing of the scarf so quickly 🙂 Always nice to have a good natter 🙂
You deserve a quieter day mhagster 🙂 but you have still been busy 👏 Sounds like everything is done apart from a bit of work in the garden 👏
QueenJess plodding along is far more useful & successful than my current state of complete inertia 😉 You are getting things done even if the storage is confusing 😉👏 Excellent decluttering 👏 & good luck with decluttering the Room of Doom 🍀Good ideas from Floss & ZsaZsa re clothing storage for children 👏Sounds very well organised QueenJess 👏 and being tidy keeps the stress away 🙂Great work short_bird 👏 Yippee to new PC 🙂Liverpool_Anne sounds like you have a great relationship with the Tip workers 🙂 I think my DH has quite a good relationship with ours as well as he usually just gets waved through - I suppose being on a motorbike helps 😉😂 Another night owl 🙂
EnergyShifter, how wonderful to hear that Life is flowing smoothly - long may it last 🙂 Excellent decluttering 👏 and good luck booking the holiday 🍀
Excellent decluttering mhagster 👏 You must be getting quite excited that the house will soon be up for sale 🙂 Hopefully you will be able to convince yourself to take it a bit easier 😉
florianatwobob, I love it - glamorous loo rolls 😅 Excellent repurposing 👏
QueenJess, sounds like you have your work cut out keeping items out 😬 Hopefully as your children grow older less stuff will come in 🤞I think that is precisely why your DH dragged the whole process out, to try to avoid helping you declutter 😔 I know it is wearying & upsetting but I would give it one more try 😔 If he tries the same tactic again just burst into tears & explain that it is too much for you to deal with alone & that he needs to help you 😉 If that doesn’t work you might have to resort to sneakiness - losing/hiding the odd item 😂 Great decluttering despite your DH being less than helpful 👏
There seems to be a theme here oceanspirit - DHs & OHs not quite understanding that a houseful full of stuff is not just one person’s clutter 🙄 However the extra food can be called prepping rather than cluttering 😉Well done EnergyShifter 👏 I see you successfully managed to pin down your DS to a decision 😉 Something to look forward to & I am keeping everything crossed that nothing untoward occurs before departure 🤞Great decluttering short_bird 👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🥇 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This has been a week of ups and downs. But mostly ups I guess. Still trying to declutter. We had our monthly book sale - took 4 boxes of our own to sell. Ended up with two large empty Christmas boxes which will be ideal for my sister's Christmas presents as she saves Christmas ornaments in them. Last year she had "only" 23 trees up (down from 28). She is President of her local Hallmark Society so buys a lot of ornaments each year. Tries not to have any duplicates. We worked solidly on the book sale set-up for several days and made $341.65 on the sale (at 25 cents a book or $2 a bag means lots of books found new homes). Apparently our state Representatives in the California Legislature pick a person of the month for their district and my roommate turned me in for it and I was chosen for August.18

Well done on your award Weenancyinamerica. From the posts I've read, I know you do an awful lot to help others and so it is well deserved. On the subject of Xmas ornaments, I noticed in my local charity shop that they had a few shelves dedicated to Xmas stuff and so for those of you who have been holding on to unwanted Xmas decorations until it was a good time to deposit them at the charity shop, now may be a good time9

Morning all xx
I seem to be in a carriage that stops and starts a lot. 🤔
But I'm reading all your posts. Holidaying vicariously with you. Taking my hat off to mhagster and weenancy who amaze me with their capabilities and tolerance. And generally cheering you all on from the sidelines.
Household waste and recycling is put out daily.
And this morning I've sorted through the stuff hanging on the back of the RoD door, following a message from DS last night: is my suit still at your house? If not I've lost it.
Pondered on how one would lose a suit!!! I guess it's feasible after two house moves 🤔
And there is now: one suit, three jackets without matching trousers, one trousers without matching jacket, a nice but not what you wear with a suit shirt, and a Uni bow tie. All going to live with DS when he next visits.
Two broken coat hangers to be binned. Once I'm dressed- always wary of frightening the neighbour's children if I step out in my nightie 🤣
And all that before I'd even come down for my first brew.
He doesn't know it yet, DS, but he's also taking: a tent, folding chair, cricket bat, nunchuks, and a box of trophies.
I think I've found my mojo 😊 As well as the sew in name labels for when DS started primary school. I had to cut off the little train when I sewed them into his secondary school clothes. He'll be 30 in December.
Anyone know anyone with a preschooler with the same name as DS? Seems a shame to bin them. Which will be why they are in the RoD. Nuf said.
Keep on decluttering my lovelies. It inspires laggards like me.
Rxx
