@RamblersTrail My CS would chuck anything Christmassy just now. They just have no space for storage and won't put anything out until November. I have a huge number of bags of stuff in my loft that wold have gone in the bin from last year to re deliver after armistice day. Best check first. Same with winter stuff. Not ready yet.
Talking of Christmas I am starting to plan use of my craft stash to make a cheaper Christmas this year. SiL wants a crochet blanket and I have two new babies who I want to make something for although they seem to have everything already.
So I have moved on to photos. We have a huge number becasue not only have DH and I had a life before each other but also we ran a conservation group so lots of pics from that time (25 years). A lot are digital but I am just doing physical photos just now.
DiL was asking about Son No1 as he has never spoke or asked about what the circumstances were to how he and his brother coming to live with us. He thought we decided it would be him and DS2 (ther were four boys) which it wasn't. He also has no sense of who his extended family are but I did find a famly tree in there, scuffily done by hand on scrap paper but I am glad I did it. I hope to present something to him and his wife for Christmas from that and some photos as well.
Today DH are going to be working in the garden together.

Hola from sunny Derbyshire.Life is still full on for me atm.The front of the house was finished yesterday. Can’t park on the new tarmac till Wednesday. The scaffolding is still up at the back in readyness for moving the bathroom window. The builders baby who was early is still in special care. So he isn’t back at work just yet.Consequently the house and garden are not what I would have hoped. On the bright side my step son has offered to come and do me a couple of days snagging. Putting trellis up and such.Yesterday we went through Mr V’s wardrobe and clothes drawers. Half a bin bag of stuff out. I asked him if he would help me do mine. Err no then🤣
I am constantly adding things to a box for the chazzer as I find them. A sea grass box an orchid and bracelet yesterday.Thank you all for your posts. It helps spur me on.Vx:10 -
Well I was about to come on here and say that there were no items in today and therefore I’m winning, but I was on the buy nothing group putting some stuff up for people to hopefully take and something popped up that I knew DS would love. I snapped that up and need to go and pick it up later! It’s only the second thing I’ve ever picked up (the first was yesterday) as usually I don’t see anything or by the time I see it, it’s already gone. An advantage of always being on there to get rid of things I suppose!
Been out all day today and I’m completely knackered, so I decided to just open the desk drawers in the room of half doom and see what was in there. I found lots of things that needs using up (work will help with that), but also a fair few things to go that I haven’t used for years. More stuff out than in though, so I still count that as a win. My three small paper drawers are bulging with one sided printed paper… hopefully I’ll make progress working through that as back to work tomorrow and I think on paper in lieu of having an actual person to talk to at work.I have to say that being aware of roughly what is coming in and making sure there is more going out makes me feel better. Even if I can’t see it, it means progress is being made. I’m also only one item away from my original yearly target of 5,360 items (pre joining this challenge though). I will then start on next year and see how far I get.Progress today:3734-39 - paperwork
3740 - notebook
3741 - box
3742-49 - craft stuffNow I’ve put DD in her own room, I can read before bed again and can work through my unread books. Many may stay, but if I won’t read them again I tend to get rid of them. I have lots I reread again and again though! I’ve just started a book on the history of various stationery items. I used to love stationery as a child and so I am hoping it is interesting.2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

What’s the opposite of decluttering? 😆
Son arrived whilst I was at work and emptied his car full of stuff into my garage! He’s moving overseas this week.Me: have you sorted it out?Him: no I fell asleep on the sofa. I’ll do it on Wednesday! However he did declutter his car and sold it this afternoon so has borrowed mine till Wednesday! Do not scrape/bash/crash/damage!I did declutter a shift. Seven to go till I’m off! Counting !8 -
@QueenJess intrigued by the book of stationery. At my dad's I found a vintage box of pencils, made in Germany and probably 1950s, then saw copying pencils and read that the dye used in them can be toxic but not sure when this changed but going to email manufacturer who is still around!
Brought things back from dad's as free sites more active here, someone v happy with the electric bread slicing machine - too big for my kitchen and trying not to eat bread! Tip run at his, brought back all the art magazine, take up a whole shelf , took v large bag of his clothes to the refugee/homeless project - always in need of men's clothes, and someone is meant to be picking up alarm clocks. Brought back vintage box full of index cards - my mum ran a carer's group and all index cards are the people , hand typed, with if they have car so can offer lifts, how long caring etc. Many 20 yrs caring for a partner, really does me grateful for so much. Shredded the cards although date from over 30 years ago, think it's the right thing to do.
Hugs to all those in need. DD meant to be coming round yesterday and been uncommunicative so concerned as MH is still v vulnerable.
Decorator (one I haven't used before) arriving 8th sept which is abit daunting, but had call with him, empty jars dropped off to refugee project which also provides food. One small item sold. Can't work out how to connect all the IT from work so abit up and down, but chipping away, and the train is def stopping everywhere!
Will do nos later and try and find a few more things to add8 -
@TC77 it’s called Adventures in Stationery. It sounds promising, but will let you know how it pans out. It’s a bit of a random read for me, but I think I heard about it years ago from the QI podcast who pulled out some interesting facts from it.2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Sunday was a gloriously sunny day with blue skies & mainly fluffy white clouds 🙂 DH watched the MotoGP races then had a bit of a clear out in his office getting rid of broken/old/unused electronic items & cables. Loaded the bike & will take to the Tip tomorrow. He also watered the garden. DSis spent the day in her room. I carried on watching GoT - now on Series 3 with just 2 episodes left. Dinner was sausages, mash, plum tomatoes & baked beans. Wudupa.
