Very much plodding along today and didn’t get half of the things done that I planned to. I did get three things picked up I had listed, have listed more stuff, packed up some charity bags (just need to label them) and tackled the clothes mess in DD’s room. Clothes are a never ending battle and I keep really confusing myself with them. My kids are short like me, so they are are always on the next size down trousers to the rest of their clothes. I have the next size up clothes for both kids at the bottom of their wardrobes but that is then the next size up for everything except bottoms which are technically the current size. I also had various other sizes to put away and very quickly got confused… Anyway, they are all rehoused temporarily until the season changes or DD grows out of clothes. I swear I deal with their clothes weekly! I would love to cut down on how many we have, but it’s too hard without a crystal ball, so I shall wait it out. It won’t last forever - they just grow so quick at this age.
I did also tidy some of the room of doom, but will likely need to remove some things so I can work in it on Monday. I popped into the attic to put a couple of things away that were missed and forgot to pull out two things I actually wanted 🤦♀️. It will have to wait now, but I did pull out more things to get rid of.
It does really feel like I am battling stuff on a daily basis at the moment. I think part of it is because DD is so young, but I keep remembering sites that say you didn’t get all this stuff in a few days, so it’s going to take longer to get rid of it. I really hope it’s not another 40 years to get rid of it 😂
I have added back two consumables onto my list as no takers. I will slowly use them up instead. Progress for today:
3674 - sticker sheet used up
3675-84 - kids clothes
3685-88 - my clothes broken beyond repair/don’t fit
3689 - packaging
3690 - paperwork
3691-2 - bits of old carpet
3693 - activity book
3694-703 - plastic wallets/box files
3701 - kitchen/bathroom consumables added back2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

QueenJess could you bag up the too-big sizes and label them, so you know where you are up to?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

@QueenJess, I used to keep boxes of too big kids clothes (things I’d been gifted, sale/charity shop bargains etc) and at times I felt like I was drowning in stuff. Now with 2 teens who have very definite tastes, which change with wind (!), I long for those days 😃. It isn’t forever, and it is useful clutter. I just kept mine either in plastic labelled tubs, or if I was less organised/ had too much stuff, in separate bin bags and tucked away under beds8

Thanks both. Maybe I made it sound disorganised in my confused state. I have the next size up clothes for each child in a pull out basket drawer at the bottom of the wardrobe. These are clean and washed and means I can quickly swap to the next size. The size up from that is boxed up in a big cupboard and labelled. I now am finding the size up from this as DS has grown and don’t really have an obvious place for it. I’ve sorted it into boxes in DD’s mini cupboard as she has very little in her room beside clothes. They can live in the big cupboard on my landing once all the sizes move along when she goes into the next size up (which is soonish).
@ZsaZsa I agree though… my mum buys tons of clothes so I buy nothing (a good arrangement in my opinion!!!), but she bought too much in the early days and as you say, I am currently drowning in clothes. I know it’s temporary.. the next size up is the last one that is a 6 month move and then DD will go up in whole years. It will be a bit of a relief as it feels a bit out of control most the time! At least it is now tidy; that’s the best I can do.2025 decluttering: 3,550🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Hi all, thanks for the replies re paint. It is actually 3 tins from LNs shed, I can't remember the last time I had paint left over, I usually manage to empty the tin somehow. She is just going to put it in the bin as it is so old it's not usable.
To be honest I usually find our tip workers very helpful, they have even helped me unload the car when I have had big stuff and they usually have a bit of a joke with me about stuff, but I think LNs dd is not a very organised person and despite me saying you need to sort it, wood together, plastic together etc she just piled it in the car any way she could and just didn't think what she was putting in each container.
@mhagster, glad your dds sorted out the ring thing
Take care everyone11 -

858 & 9 - 2x part used packs of herbal remedies
860. Detritus from bedside cabinet
861. Sarong
862. Glasses fixed
863. Broken glasses disposed of
864. Returned top to shop
865. Birthday present & balloon to a friend
I'm in very good spirits at the moment. Life feels like its flowing smoothly - for which I am incredibly grateful 🙏.
Hardly anything booked in for this weekend. The main thing I want to achieve by the end of the weekend is to book a holiday for me & DS. I tried to pin him down unsuccessfully last weekend but didn't manage it. It's not that he doesn't want to go it's just the making decisions bit and given that it's not my strong suit either its easy to let things drift - but given we would need to travel 1st or 2nd Sept drifting time is limited.
866. Black wheelie bin full of shed (that's the whole shed gone now!!)
867. Old Monzo shredded
868-870 - 3 x bins of shredding -they are small bins but it still took some time...)
871 & 2 - 2 x guttering cleared
873 - called builder / painter to arrange a quote
874. Wheelie bin full of green waste.
Lots of love to all xxx

A bit of garden tidying done at mums today. After a very wet and blustery start to the day it’s brightened up nicely.Laid the mulch in a bed at front path. Looks much better than it did.More pruning. Filled 6 bags.
Cut back grass and just about broke my lawnmower!Filled 4 bags with assorted rubbish in garden. It’s bin day this week ( 3 weekly) so once it’s emptied it’s ready to fill again!Hoping that by end of next week house is up for sale.Edit: and two big boxes out of my garage and up to boss’ house. It was from a big delivery from when she was on holiday In May! I have a boyo coming tomorrow to dump most of his life possessions in my garage 😳
also dropped about 10 cookery books that mum had given me a few years ago but ones I didn’t really want 😏 they’ve been in the garage for ages so took them to supermarket charity shelf.9 -
A ferret in the shed and a few bits pulled out to be repurposed. The extra loo rolls are now looking a little more glamorous in a wicker basket on the landing (our loo is possibly the worlds smallest room ever). An old kilner type jar now has the spare buttons in. It’s definitely a little too old and ropey to store food however, it is quite decorative in a shabby chic way so it gets to live on.Some more crafty bits are now in a bag to leave the house.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
