I have 2 tips in my Borough, 1 takes paint but my nearest (and nicer) tip doesn't. It will say on the councils website if they take paint, some take it on behalf of community projects.
I'm lucky here that tips are open 363 days a year (not Easter Sunday or Christmas day), 8am-8pm April-September and 8am-6pm October-March. The guys there are all friendly and helpful too. Previous town tip was open Friday-Wednesday 10am-4pm so not as easy to get rid of stuff.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

morning fellow declutterers
Gosh mhagster - you must have the patience of several saints
Hugs wildrose, sounds like loads of stress for you
Our local tip takes paint to reuse for community groups - I have loads in my garage ready for my next tip run. LivepoolAnne - could you offer on a Fb for free site?
Hugs to others who are struggling too.
I haven't decluttered that much, been busy with self employment work - extra money is helping to declutter my mortgage if i'm allowed to count thatI have kept up deleting emails and shredding paperwork which has just been collected with the recycling.
Found out last week that DD1 needs to have an operation, was at hospital for 5 hours yesterday doing pre -op stuff. Poor DD1, she is already struggling with anxiety. But she did well yesterday.
Back to my self employment work now ....
Love to all

Our tip takes paint so I’ve never had to dispose of it alternatively. Is it good enough to be offered on free cycle, it always astounds me what people will take and make use of. Otherwise is it feasible to bag it and put it in the bin, maybe a can or 2 at a time if there’s lots?8

Not much getting out of the house here at the mo, too much procrastinating going on. I have however managed to do some tidying in cupboards with like with like. That did make some difference too so feel not so bad about it. I re wrote the freezer lislt on the door as a couple of items I had added were not on the list. DH uttered he couldn't find what we was checking for on the list as it was not in alphabetical order!
OK hint took and wrote it alphabetically for him
Helped a neighbour with a little task of picking up many fallen apples. They were bin fodder, we collected a good bag from the tree and they are all now stewed ready for an apple pie and a crumble to be made to take on the trip. DH help peel them and only found 3 grubsits surprising when you go back to basics of home grown produce that you forget about little surprises like these
We are away overnight at the weekend and will be using the car and the dogs will be with us as there is some stuff still in there for the CS that has not been dropped off yet, today it will. I try to keep out of town as I always spend a little something and I need to get a birthday card and little pressie for great niece.
Folks don't forget the TLC carriage awaits with back massagers at the ready for a destress.
Have a good weekend all.

I've still not got into the habit of posting on here regularly and so apologies. The post moves very quickly and so I confess to not being uptodate. The last time I came on here I said that I wanted to look at some decluttering videos. I did watch a couple and one of them in particular inspired me. It advised to concentrate efforts on your most urgent space that needs attention. For me that was one of the bedrooms. It highlighted that clutter can accumulate because we put stuff down as we'll be using it in the next week or we don't have a home for it - I now realise this is me big time! It advises you to look at an area and visualise how you want it to look. Using these principles, I started with the surface of a chest of drawers - there were all sorts on there! I made myself find a home for a few things - I may move some of them again later but at least they were put away. It is now back to just having decorative items on there or useful items such as a jewellery box. They advise only leaving random stuff out if using it in the next 24 hours. As an example, earlier in the week I'd left a top hanging upon the wardrobe door to wear the next day but the event didn't go ahead and so the top could be put away rather than leaving it there for a week like I tend to do! I then looked at stuff I'd go on top of two wardrobes. Most of the stuff is for selling and I'm happy for it to be there for the time being but I decided that I could make it all look better by putting some of it in different containers. So I swapped some of the cardboard boxes for plastic crates that I'd got spare in the shed - a big improvement. I'm trying hard to keep the room looking tidy
.
The OH has done a very good job of laying laminate flooring in the dining room/study and I took the old carpet/underlay to the tip - very satisfying. We need to look for new carpet for the living room next. I've also taken a few things to the charity shop.
As watching the decluttering video worked out well for me, I shall make time to watch some more!9 -
I don't understand why the people at the tip aren't more helpful. I was nervous of going and ours really weren't great for beginners. Getting shouted at must have been even more off-putting though :-(9
-
One of the things that I find difficult at the tip is that when you arrive they ask what you've got to get rid of and then tell you the number of the skip that you need to put each item in. That's fine if you've only got 2 types of things but when you've brought along say 10 different types of stuff, I can never remember which skip they've told me to put carpet in and which one to put wood in and where to put a suitcase etc. Some stuff is obvious by looking at the sign on the skip such as garden waste but often I'm not sure and then have to go and ask again!7
-
Perhaps you should email your council to put some signs in front of the skips that make it clear. The two tips I regularly use have very large signs above the skip if they're on the ground, or in front AND behind, and the other has them on the fences in front of them [you throw over the top in this one]. But they are all large and easy to see. SOunds like they need a rethink. Frame it as constructive criticism and you might get a result.

A bag of stuff left the house including a scarf that was sent as packaging for an item I bought from 3bay. Excellent repurposing but I wasn’t going to do anything with it and an oven dish that was given as a present but I just don’t reach for when I’m cooking. Also some balls of wool that will do someone else more use than me.DSis decluttered some life-min at the bank and I decluttered hair at the hairdressers. Also tan into two neighbours on the way out and had a good natter with them.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Hello
a quieter kind of day but a few things gone.
bag of clothes picked up from doorstep charity collection.
manhandled very awkwardly a big bag of mulch for a bed in mums garden. Dumped it there tonight and will sort it tomorrow as it was lashing with rain.
and a big thing was picked up. The last of the indoor big things to be collected. And then DD2 ( who apparently can have the ring (sigh) ) took the kettle for her boyfriend’s as he doesn’t have a kettle as he doesn’t take tea or coffee. So it’s being repurposed as I would just have put it in small electrical pile at tip.7
