31/52 - DH shirt sold and posted (reused packaging too) for a few pennies into the coffee fund.
32/52 - bag of various bits and bobs to the bin including a very worn pair of shoes.8 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Declutter/Relocate one item every time I stand up.
5. Don’t put it down, put it away
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedSo Thursday is cooler with blue skies & mostly fluffy white clouds with no sign of still needed rain ☹️ The weather forecast has changed from high likelihood of rain to less than 20% until next Monday 😔 DSis has taken the opportunity to do a wash & her clothes are now on whirligig 🙂 I am pleased to report that the long soak in vinegary water ‘appears’ to have worked (mostly) & my white shirt has been rinsed & is also hung out. Apart from that I have done nothing ☹️
1253 - 1258 Office recycling, 3 cardboard boxes, 2 newspapers - recycled
So straight into cheerleading 😉
QueenJess, please try not to get too stressed about the ‘stuff’ in the attic 🙏 You are doing really well by sorting & decluttering the visible stuff - once you are in a routine with the day to day decluttering & have the room to see what areas need to be worked on next you will find yourself less stressed 🙂 Your plan of action is a good one & you can already see how much difference you have made 👏 Aesop’s fable of the tortoise & the hare is well worth remembering 😉 So keep up the good work & remember decluttering is a marathon not a sprint 😉
Oh dear mhagster 😔 I am not really that sure I could have been so restrained with your DB 😉 You must have worked in the diplomatic corps 🙂 if not in this life then in a previous one 😅 You must be absolutely exhausted 😩 By the way, your halo is not rusty - it is like a beacon reminding us all that if we put in an effort everything is possible 😇 Fingers crossed that you can get your DB to do more than put up the banister e.g. finish mowing the lawn 🤞
bit_by_bit, so much for the paperless society that was supposed to be here about 20 years ago 😖Officialdom seems to be lagging far behind & causing the ordinary person no end of stress & grief 😔Excellent work with the packaging 👏
vulpix, I see you are looking on the bright side - seeing your Mum’s house has made you determined that yours will not be left in the same state 🙂 Hopefully as you start to finish up the various tasks etc your stress levels will ramp down & you can settle down to a more reasonable decluttering regime. Please try to enjoy your time away - you & MrV deserve some TLC 🙂 & to be able to look forward to retirement 🙂
Great decluttering short_bird 👏 & good news about the record sales 🙂
Very kind of you to help your neighbour Liverpool_Anne 🙂👏 The shed was obviously a TARDIS in disguise 😉 “mhagster well done on not braining your brother, why not ask him to finish the lawn after he has put the banister back and I am sure you can think of a few other jobs he could do 😀I know I could as he has so far done naff all. Didn't you say you were let down by the cleaners? 😀 hmmm upstairs windows etc 😀 big hugs, you are nearly there” - very well said 👏
TC77 sounds like your DB is not yet ready to get down to decluttering - sorting keys & cables seems to be a displacement activity ☹️ However as long as there is movement then the decluttering should get there in the end 🤞 Your dad has led a very interesting life & I can see why you are enjoying cataloguing his books 🙂 Try not to worry too much about cluttering your bedroom with art magazines - once they are in your bedroom you will have an incentive & the time to only keep the ones that are really interesting so you can get back to a breathable bedroom 🙂 Keep up the good work 👏
Good luck with the grit decluttering vulpix 🍀 sadly I think it will probably be an ongoing job for a while 😔 What lovely praise for mhagster 😊
Well done Siebrie - your patience in keeping the old lamp was rewarded by wombling a slim line version 😉
Great work Rootle 👏

Hello.Another busy day. Not crazy busy though just kept going busy.Round to mums at 7.30 ish to fill car with garden stuff for tip. Six bags of garden waste and a broken lawnmower. Also 2 bedside tables from my garage in the wood recycling area.Back round and cleaned upstairs. So three bedrooms and a bathroom and hall landing done. Windows, skirting. All hoovered not a cobweb in site! That took a couple of hours.Back round later and took my lawnmower.Oh the darling boy ( middle aged man but treated like a princeling) had put up the bannister! At some point between me being there. How precious. Now will be very surprised to see him again! I’m not allowed to write what I really think would just be many exclamation points! There will be no appreciation from either sibling of the work I’ve done.Anyway my lawnmower is obviously set for my lawn so it ate mum’s grass in a rather undignified way so it looks atrocious! But will no doubt grow! Pulled out lots of weeds and I’m going to get a couple of bags of mulch tomorrow and cover a bed at front path. That was for an hour or so. Left lawnmower there to eat up the patch at the back garden. Will need to take extension cable round with me.This morning I found ( by chance and just as well) under the bottom of a shelf in the fitted wardrobes, several jewellery boxes. The jewellery was all left to me anyway. Gave DD1 first dibs as her sister got first dibs 12 weeks ago! So she’s taken the ring her sister wanted. So I’ve just had tears from her as that was supposed to be for her! Even though she got plenty! She’ll sort but I was just like oh for goodness sake! Sort it out with your sister !9

Cut more wood for the wood stores as I have realised the new gate is being put in a week today and although a lot tidier it is still a mess. Some of the logs are very thick and even with my electric saw take ages and it is very hot and thirsty work. I used one of the pallets to create an extra shelf in the wood store. The slats were just the right length and it stops the logs falling down when you move one out.
Still at least an hours cutting, and then I took all the bits of wood that were really no good to the tip.
Also took the engineers cabinets into the furniture restorer.
Hugs @mhagster you are doing great.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D10 -
Been ploughing on with decluttering despite the rest of life being something of a nightmare. DS still in hospital and prob there for another 2-3 weeks apparently. DS2 had a car accident a couple of days ago, other party accepted 100% liability. Wrote off DS's work vehicle and left him very bruised and sore. He also had some biopsies today, v worried that a previous condition may have returned.
Somehow I've managed to sort out most of the wardrobe, just got one set of shelves to organise now, what goes where. Fireproof document box arrived and now contains deeds, certificates, passports and v old photos. A bag to the cs, more photos and papers sorted, much shredding done, another bag filling up for the cs. My living room looks like I'm a hoarder but it's a work in progress.
I've decided to thoroughly sort all the paperwork, I keep coming across more caches of it, and decide how I'll store it when I know exactly what I'm dealing with.
Tested old paints today - sniff test, stirred thoroughly and checked for texture then painted on some cardboard. Both paints passed all tests so will save me a bit of money. All I've got to do now is get them on the ceiling and walls. In 10 days DS2 should be moving into his new flat which will give me loads more space, if he's healed enough to actually move!
Well done to everyone who is decluttering as much as an envelope and hugs to those needing them. I ache all over from stress, still dosing myself up with paracetamol regularly.9 -
This week I have decluttered a broken shelf, extra saucepans, books, various bits and bobs , a boxful, to the CS,a bag of bags for life to the community fridge and a car. I don't think I can better that score for a while@mhagster you've done so much work, well done! And fff to your borther and unhelpful other people...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9

Looking forward to it @vulpix
Big hugs @Wildrose That is an awful lot to deal with so if YOU move so much as an envelope, gently give yourself a pat on the back.
So finally in to report of the packaging sort out.
In total there were 27 bags, most from the loft and two from around the house (mostly binliners)
Of those I have got rid of 2 binliners for recycling, 1 binliner to the bin and 3 bags put of a free listing site.I won't be counting the latter as out until someone collects them.
I have 2 binliners and a box of envelopes go back in the loft and there are stored neatly in 6 boxes according to size and type. I have used spare boxes for storage and not bought any as this situation will be temproary as I sell stuff off.
It feels so much better to have done this although it took days. I had to keep going back to it as I got tired or procrastinated.
I have just read it back and it looks like a maths question.
Today I also have cleared out and vacuumed the porch, brushed to floors and vacuumed the carpet downstairs and cleaned the downstairs loo and family bathroom. I had visitors tonight which pushed me along a bit but I wasn't stressed at all. DH helped too with getting all the loft stuff into the loft.

Managed a tip run with DB , will update tomorrow!9 -
Hi all, tip run done
. One of the things I took from the LNs shed was a small empty gas canister, about 3 inches high used in camping lights etc. As I wasn't sure if the tip would take it I asked the man on the gate. He took it from me and said we don't take calor gas canisters, paint or nuclear weapons
. Oh dear I replied,, where can I take them them
. It got me thinking though about the paint. What do other people do with it? If I can't take it to the tip and obviously can't put it down the drain does it just go in the bin??? LNs dd1 did arrive and I helped her load the rest of the shed stuff into her car and she took it to the tip. When she got back she said they had shouted at her for putting stuff in the wrong place, it's not her local tip and I had said to her to try to group it by materials as that was how it's done but I don't think she really understood. While having coffee over the fence with LN, typically it started to rain and I discovered my big umbrella has been damaged while in the car boot so that is now in the bin, I do have 3 others but it was a nice big one, but it is gone so I am counting it as a win.
The knee is still sore but slowly improving, meanwhile OH's back has gone again. Honestly we are a right pair at the moment
@mhagster, oh boo to your dds, you could do without the stress. If they don't sort it out between them tell them you want it all back ! Hugs
Take care everyone8 -
Here they have us take the top of the can of paint and let it dry, then we can put it in the trash.
