Didn't feel like my usual swim having had a glass of wine, so had a stroll through the park to waitrose to return JL items, one faulty and one unwanted.
Realised I haven't updated nos for ages so having a guestimate at 1170, may be abit generous so will incentivise me tomorrow.
Listened to Andrew Mellen who basically said up to me if I spend 6 months or 6 years, if I spend 6 months and speed up will have more time for livingso while happy to do bits and pieces on a longer term do need to get a way to get it more liveable and less stressful. Still some way of where I should be for my target.
take care all and be kind to yourself... and going to try and listen to my own advice...9 -
I was tidying up the house and particularly the places that attract clutter and felt the need to declutter more. If things are getting left around, there must be more to leave the house.
I decluttered:2399-2401 - paperwork
2402 - broken toy
2403 - packaging
2404 - cleaning supplies used up
2405-2504 - craft stuff I think I’ll use, but haven’t for at least 5 years. Gone to a local care home.
There always seems to be more to go out the door. Usually holiday is the worst as you manage fine with only a suitcase and then you come back to your house and wonder why you have so much stuff. The easiest time to declutter though, so watch this space after my holiday!2025 decluttering: 3,925🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Holiday Mantras
1. Try not to eat too much but drink plenty of water
2. Restrict time playing AB2 to 45 mins in the morning & 60 mins in the evening 😉
3. Breakfast everyday with the family 😉
4. Enjoy the excursions
So Friday has been a wonderful day - our second & final excursion 🙂 Went to breakfast in Gourmet Marche - a banana, some toast, sparkling water & coffee for me. DH had sausage & bacon & beans on toast. We were ready & waiting for our minibus by 9:00 a.m. but it didn’t turn up until 9:15 😉 Drove through Rodney Bay & headed south to Babonneau & then towards Castries for the Jungle Adventure Aerial Tram tour. Took about 45 minutes to get there. When we finally got on the tram (waited over half an hour - as tram takes only 8 people + the guide); we headed off through the treetops with Julietta our guide & driver. A spectacular & stately trip to the top where we turned round & went back down again. So many different types of trees & many plants, flowers & ferns & practically all of the them had some medicinal application 🙂 We even managed to see a couple of hummingbirds & a warbler. When the zip liners weren’t screeching/yelling with excitement it was very peaceful - just bird sounds & rustling leaves 👏
Both the above were taken on the way down.
Below a zip liner having fun 🤩
Got to the bottom & then a short uphill walk to the hummingbird garden. Saw two or three but they wouldn’t feed on the hand held sugar feeder 😔 Julietta was most upset 😢
Spot the hummingbird 😉 a clue - it is almost in the centre of the photo ………. spot the blue colour + the beak points to the left 😁 Hoping C managed to get a better photo 🤞Of our party of 6 only 3 did the strenuous but shortish walk through the jungle - T, C & me + joined by the other 2 people & our guide. DH, W & S went back down to the waiting area. I think the walk should only have taken about 20 minutes but I was a bit slow - overweight & unfit 😉 so took about 35 minutes 😔 & I forgot to give the rucksack to DH 🙄 Might have been strenuous - steep ascents & descents over uneven ground but very interesting & we got to see a couple more hummingbirds 👏🙂 Photos below of some of my favourite trees & an indication of the steepness of the ascents 😁
We then had a quick juice drink & were chivvied along to get back on the minibus to return to hotel. Return trip took an hour as the road was busy. We had an ice-cream or drink on the main terrace, then W,T,C&S headed to lunch in Grazie whilst DH & I returned to our room to cool down. By this time I was feeling rather unwell - a combination of not drinking enough & strenuous exercise ☹️ Unfortunately our room was being cleaned so had to sit on the balcony in the heat but drinking lots of water. However, when we eventually got into our air conditioned room - 15 minutes of contemplating my navel & drinking chilled water saw me feeling human again 🙂 We then headed off to Grazie but didn’t join the others - we decided to enjoy just each other’s company 😅 I had a Caesar’s salad & sparkling water, DH had fettuccine al Fredo & 2 g&ts 😉 Waved to the others as we returned to our room 😉 DH dozed & I played AB. Then the sky went dark & we found out the true meaning of ‘the rainy season’ as the heavens opened. Lots of screaming from people by the poolside & then a message saying the other 4 of our party had gone down to the beach & got wetter from the rain than being in the sea 🤣
Heaved it down for about 20-25 minutes, then stopped & blue sky started to appear 🙂 We showered & changed then went to Dorado’s for dinner. DH had scampi followed by crusted Atlantic salmon with potato gratin & I had lobster bisque with vodka followed by chateaubriand steak (rare) with the potato gratin 😋🤤😋🤤 Although DH enjoyed his dinner he preferred my choices 🤣 so being the loving wife that I am (plus I was very full) I gave him about a fifth of my steak. The steak had been perfectly cooked - rare & hot 🥳 Back in our rooms by about 8:30 p.m.
I am going to cheerlead on a separate post as I don’t want to risk losing this one 😉

Back again 😉
GrannyKate, if you can please pop into the TLC carriage 🙂
SuffolkSue, very pleased that my posts are calling back pleasant memories 🙂 No need to number, popping in now & again to let us know how you are getting on should be less stressful 😉 I have to say that I am rather in awe at your description - “a surprise heart stent” I hope you are now on the mend & taking it easy - decluttering comes way down the list of priorities.
Thank you florianatwobob 👏 Very restful photos of plaster drying 🙂 Shame about the plaster stains on your oak threshold but you sound like you have the remedial work well in hand 🤞Celebrating a birthday week sounds rather enjoyable 😊
Sorry to hear that DS2 has had Covid, GrannyKate ☹️ Hopefully his recovery will be fairly swift & he will stop being so tired 🤞Excellent decluttering 👏 & now you are past halfway I am sending you one Gold Star ⭐️ to add to your collection 🙂 Everything crossed that you do have a working phone on Tuesday 🤞
What a lovely reason to be MIA, nannywindow 😊 I had a vision of mamma birds feeding their babies 😉 Excellent decluttering 👏 Btw, if the freezer is practically empty it might be the ideal time to defrost (if needed) 😅 Hope you & DH have a lovely holiday 🙂 You have my 🙏 that your DH continues battling as long as GrannyKate’s DB. Thank you for my medal 🥇 - already added 😉 Apparently one of the plants in the St Lucia jungle can be used to aid memory 😉😉
Great work EnergyShifter 👏 especially 827 🥳
vulpix, so sorry to hear that your mum isn’t recuperating as well as she should ☹️ Excellent work with the painting 👏 I did smile at your comment “ I get rid of so much stuff, I don’t know why my house doesn’t feel empty!” 😃 Sounds like other people/person in your home is either not pulling their weight in decluttering or they are bringing in more than you are releasing 😉 😬
TC77, Sending lots of hugs to both you & DD2 🤗 Take heart, you are still decluttering & hopefully you & DD2 will fight your way through the low spirits 🤞Sometimes all we can do is put one foot in front of the other.
mhagster, you are definitely motoring along with the decluttering 👏 What a lovely surprise - no more pesky knitting needles but a full bottle of whiskey - two very happy people 😁
You changed your post florianatwobob 😉 as like Wildrose I was imagining all sorts of things 😂
Excellent work short_bird 👏
TC77, yes you must listen to your own advice - please be kind to yourself 🙏 Perhaps a happy medium between 6 months & 6 years would be less stressful 😉
Excellent decluttering QueenJess, especially the craft supplies 👏 Over 2500 has earned you a Gold Star ⭐️ “ Usually holiday is the worst as you manage fine with only a suitcase and then you come back to your house and wonder why you have so much stuff. The easiest time to declutter though, so watch this space after my holiday!” I think I should definitely take this on board 😉😁

As usual MrsSD the photos look idyllic, even the downpour looks welcoming in the heat. Good idea about defrosting the freezer, now why didn't that cross my mind ? Think I need to live under that memory plant, do they have an ideas plant too 😂
This week we will be in full on holiday sorting mode, the spare room is already full of van stuff that needs to be relocated in it and be stashed away. There are now lots of big empty spaces in the house, is it wrong to wish it was always like that ? Unfortunately it will refill come October as we don't leave anything in the van over winter.
DH is reinforcing one of our folding chairs today as the cross bars has bent, don't know how that happened....... and thankfully it was nothing to do with my weight ! I have done a freezer inventory this morning and now I have an idea as to what we will eat during next week. I will defrost it later in the week thanks to MrsSD's suggestion.
I asked DH to sort out his all-sorts drawer and he threw out just 6 non working pens 😣 Every piece of wire, fuse and plug went back in for Justin !
We had some bad news last night as one of DH's cousins has passed away from cancer. We used to meet them almost every week in town and sadly his wife is also critically ill in hospital. He will be sorely missed as all the cousins are a tight knit family and he was the first of their generation to die.
Have a good day everyone and take care all.

Saturday update.Tip this morning with 9 bags of garden waste. Pouring with rain! Then round to mums this afternoon. Started on shed emptying. A load of tools and stuff going to local allotment. Getting collected tomorrow. OMG at the spiders!!!
A big thing collected this morning.Filled another five garden bags and also filled rubbish bin which gets emptied mid week.Started weeding between the slabs. Rather therapeutic!7 -
@vulpix I hope your mum starts to mend soon
@nannywindow hugs.
Well nothing much has been done for the last few days. Just for some reason feel suddenly overwhelmed by the amount to do. still no one place is sorted. So today I pulled on my big girl pants. Decided for every 30 minutes decluttering I could do 15 minutes work on my garden(could totally loose myself in that).
Started with the shed. There was a bookcase in there that I made at evening classes. I gave it to my husband to get rid off years ago and he found it a spot in the shed🤦🏼♀️ I got it out and put on free cycle. It was gone in 30 minutes to a lady I know so that was nice.
The next 30 minutes was in the garage. I had moved 21 beer glasses from the loft into the garage to make space in the loft and because I didn't have the energy to sort. They also went on free cycle and are going to a care home this evening...so again I felt good about this.
Did some general tidying and then some fun things(dog club and stuff) for the rest of the day......feel like I have achieved something as both things free cycled took up a lot of space so at least when I go in the shed or the garage I will be able to see what I have done.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D9
