Hi all, I have been mia again as I had over a week when I was just exhausted and did nothing except the bare minimum. However I have had my b12 jab and I am starting to feel human again
I have tried to keep up but not sure if I have remembered everything.
My Mum was born in 1920 and was really frugal by nature, an amazing knitter, aran was her speciality and I still have 2 jumpers and a cardigan she made for me which are only worn in the coldest weather as they are so warm. Even within the family she was renowned for being able to stretch her housekeeping as well as saving for holidays etc. She taught me to knit, crochet and sew, she loved embroidery though had little money to spend on decorative crafts. My Dad was born in either 1909 or 1910, there is a bit of confusion as my Dad always thought he was born in 1910 but when he had to get a copy of his birth certificate it came back as 1909 but to be honest we were never really sure. His Mum had several babies that did not survive and she had a habit of giving the same name to the next baby. Also he was registered with a birth date a couple of weeks after his actual birth as he was not expected to survive and it was cheaper to register a dead baby than a live one so by the time they realised he was going to survive they had to move the date to comply with the time limit for registration. There were 12 children that survived to adult age, with at least 6 dying very soon after birth and a girl who died aged 12 of scarlett fever so I suppose it was a problem for his Mum to remember when everyone was born. Birthdays were not celebrated in his home as they were just too poor to mark the occasion. My Dad was not really handy as far as painting and decorating DIY went but he did have a go at it. He was very good at all things electrical and I remember he rewired our house. My Dad gave me unconditional love and always boosted my confidence and he was a big union supporter which he also passed on to me. Neither of them had a lot of stuff and they had sorted out when they moved a few years before they died, but in a way it made it harder to sort when I had to clear the house because everything they had was important to them and it took me several years to let go of some of it. I still have a few personal things and lots of photographs but I think I am too sentimental really.
I have finally got the pointing done. It took several reminder phone calls and had to be rearranged due to the rain but it feels like such a win as I can now start to think of sorting out a new kitchen
This week has been OH birthday and we have been out for 2 meals with friends and last night went to see Prima Facie at the cinema, it is part of the national theatre thing where they record plays etc and show them in cinemas. Brilliant idea and I have to say Jodie Comer was amazing. The subject matter is a bit upsetting, especially as Jodie Comer makes it so real, but I do recommend it. Best trip to the cinema I have had in years, catch it if you can
I have also spent some time sorting out football tickets as the season is starting early and I have a trip to Leicester this weekend for the charity sheild. I have also had to sort stuff for my nephew who is currently homeless and staying with friends. I have had a lovely chat with him and he's not in the least worried, he has money in the bank from his flat sale and will sort out something when he has decided where he wants to live. He is one of those people that live in a bubble, he doesn't stress about anything and amazingly things just always fall into place for him. He has friends all over the world he goes to stay with and obviously he has been offered a bed here if he wants it
Well I am off to Preston this afternoon to collect some football tickets for a friend so I had better get a wriggle on
@Mrs SD, loving the holiday pics and green with envy
I will try to comment on all the amazing progress others are making next time I post
Sorry for the long post

And another shift decluttered!Quick home for an hour then round to mums.Loaded the car with remaining stuff from loft, odds and sods that were lying about serving no purpose. Stuff! So plastic, boxes, metal, general waste & four bags of garden waste. All squeezed in to my little car.7 -
2 tops donated to cs this morning. They'd hung about in my wardrobe unworn for years, hopefully they'll bring somone pleasure.
Just had a plasterer round to quote for my bedroom ceiling repair. V good price and he can start Monday. I need to empty the room and my place is already stuffed with DS2's belongings. He has a flat at last but doesn't move in until the end of August. It will be like tetras, carefully packing things in here. I'll have to sleep on the sofa for a few nights to which isn't grat but needs must.
This will be a chance to have a proper sort out of my room. Once the ceiling is repaired I'll decorate. Not been done for 12 years. I have some old paint which would probably do the walls, a fresh primrose shade. But how do you know if old paint is OK? Best do some googling.7 -
Condolences, Granny Kate, so sorry for all your troubles.xx

And for this evening : 6 bags of garden waste at side of house to go to tip on Saturday morning. Decided to have a tip free day tomorrow!Took a wee posy of roses into NDN as I was deadheading rose bushes. Also bought a couple of gel air fresheners , don’t really want to have plug in ones on all the time when no-one there and it smelled nicer already by the time I was leaving.9

Holiday Mantras
1. Try not to eat too much but drink plenty of water
2. Restrict time playing AB2 to 45 mins in the morning & 60 mins in the evening 😉
3. Breakfast everyday with the family 😉
4. Enjoy the excursions
Surprisingly DH & I were not suffering from hangovers this morning 😉 although DH was hungry having missed dinner. We actually breakfasted alone this morning as we were late getting down to the beach. Both a cheese & mushroom omelette with bacon & sausages + toast & He*nz jam - who knew 🤔 Sparkling water & slightly better coffee. Back to our room to get changed into swim wear then down to cabana. Today it was hot, hot, hot 🥵 but with a chilly breeze. Several dips in the sea & fed the fish. Lunch at Dorado - I had almond encrusted goat cheese salad & a portion of fries 🤤 + sparkling water & a rum & coke. DH had smoked fish platter followed by popcorn shrimp & fries. Then back to cabana, a couple more sessions in the sea & returned to our room about 5:00 p.m. to find this on our bed made from a bath towel 🙂 (on the walk back I was greeted by name 😉by a couple who were on the cruise - I obviously made an impression 😂)
Showered & changed & managed to get a table in Hunters Steak House for 6:20 p.m. (I went to Reception & handed in my remaining postcards which I had written in the morning ) My starter of corn chowder was very disappointing 😔 but my tenderloin en brochette with mash was delicious - sorry I forgot to take the picture before I started eating 😉
The meat was rare but still hot & so tender 👏 DH had chorizo followed by ribeye & fries 🤤
Back in our room before 8:00 p.m. & both in bed by 8:30 although still awake gone 10:00 p.m. - me posting & DH reading. Before I get onto cheerleading a couple of photos from yesterday.

Siebrie, thank you for sharing your family history 👏 What wonderful parents you have & so organised 🙂
Your poor mum, vulpix 😣 Pleased that it has all been sorted relatively quickly & very impressed that your mum didn’t swear even when in agony 👏 Excellent decluttering 👏
Nice to see you back Liverpool_Anne 👋 Seems like your b12 jab should be every 10 weeks rather than every 3 months. I am loving the family histories 😊 Not too sentimental at all - you have kept a few bits, the photos & you have wonderful memories of both parents 😊 Your nephew sounds like a very laid back person who goes with the flow & has the wonderful ability to not get stressed 😁
Excellent decluttering mhagster 👏 It must be almost done now 🤞
Great work Wildrose 👏 Another declutterer employing a plasterer 😉 Good luck with the bedroom decorating & decluttering 🍀
Another excellent decluttering session mhagster 👏 You have worked so hard to get it done so quickly 👏
