I feel your pain with kitchen storage. I have decluttered masses of kitchen stuff and still have no room in this house. Several of the cupboards are inaccessible and I have to keep pans in the oven!
This is what’s great about this thread. You get a reminder of what could go from other peoples comments.
I have not been helped by DD1 moving away and giving me the contents from under her sink to add to my own. I can’t bin it. It will take me a lifetime to use it up though. Perhaps if I cleaned differently it would reduce faster. I have always just dusted with a damp cloth. I now own cleaning materials for every eventuality! I have always just rubbed whatever with a dab of washing up liquid.😂 hmm food for thought. I could box it up and offer it for free. Not today, I have house guests. The house seems even smaller with 4 adults in it. I think Victorian families must have had no possessions apart from the clothes they wore and a few bits of furniture. My house was a purpose built mill workers cottage. Must have been luxurious back then. It had its own outside loo.I have given DD1 a gift bag from my stash for a gift for her friend she is meeting whilst she is in the area. Also must offer loads for free. My Mum has recently offloaded her stash onto me as she only gives money these days. I just can’t bear waste. I think many of us are the same with our decluttering. I have cut back on gift giving too. The family did a secret Santa last year. Saved such a lot of stuff coming into the house.2 areas to visit when my run of visitors is over.I wanted rain and we certainly got it. About time. Everywhere was like a tinder box.Love to all

The plaster is, apparently, successfully decluttering itself. My rustic landing currently looks like this

I have looked for kitchen ideas online and I was looking at those slimline pull out shelves that you can store spices etc... in , but the space in my kitchen is too narrow for even that.
I finally decided to use this awkward little alcove bit I have under the stairs and I put all my tinned goods and all our snacks like crisps, biscuits in two plastic sealed boxes there. I think I will look in the local second hand store for a cupboard or a shelf that fits in that space. I used some grey storage boxes for the rest of the things like oils, condiments, tea on the shelf in the kitchen so it looks more tidy.
I didn't really declutter much today, though. A broken coat hanger, bottles tor recycling, packaging to recycling bin and an out of date food item I found was binned.2025 GOALS

What a week! At least the temperature is reasonable now but we have only had a few of the lightest of sprinkles of rain, we could do with some real downpours but none forecast yet. Meanwhile the forest burns around us. Last night I could smell smoke, checked it wasn't the field beside us, turned out it was a forest fire about a mile away. Our local facebook forums are full of "Can anyone else smell that smoke, as fires break out regularly in the tinder dry forest.
Slow steady decluttering taken place this week, I remember what @Mrs_Salad_Dodger said about routine decluttering counts. It keeps me on top of the progress I've already made.
A weekly planner, one with tear off pages for each week. It was a gift years ago but I finally used it all up and binned the backing cardboard.
A bag of soft plastics to the sm recycling. The recycling bin went out full of cardboard from deliveries as well as the usual stuff. The garden bin also emptied last week, full of mown hay and bamboo roots. Couldn't offer the hay to anyone as ragwort grows in my garden though sadly very few cinnabar moth caterpillars are seen.
Black bin (general waste) emptied today. Only about a third full but it's gone.
Into the recycle bin with more packaging. Sorted the intray and did some filing and shredding.
Biggest achievement is the emptied garden bin filled with bamboo, roots and all. I have dug out half of the giant bamboo patch now. I'm especially happy about this as advice received over the last 4 years has been "You'll never do it, get your sons to dig it out" (fat chance), "You'll need a man with a mini-digger" and "Lots of weedkiller" ( don't use weedkiller and also it would still have left the roots). Last year I tackled the bamboo which had sprung up around the garden, working back to the source, and this year tackled the MotherLode.9 -
Floss, sadly all the cleaning stuff is opened. Not even all bought by DD1. It was bought by previous house mates and abandoned when they moved on. I have had an idea. I will offer first pick to bit by bits daughter for her new flat. 😉
Floriana it will be beautiful when it is done. I love to watch plaster dry.Wildrose I hope you get rain soon. We have had a proper soaking and it feels so much better.Vx:11 -
Had a lovely weekend with my daughter. I helped declutter the kitchen and filled several bags of out of date food🤦♀️ Sadly they did not get the house they offered on but they still plan to try and break the chain by moving into his parents house . I also took 4 large boxes up to help them packing. Got back last night and have felt a bit tired and not great today. Accidentally decluttered an old tub of skin cream as it turned out to be so old when I opened it the normally solid cream was liquid and went all over the floor.
Hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow. Enjoyed catching up with everyone’s news
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D9 -
Plaster drying is very satisfying @vulpix far moreso than paint! 😉 it will be wonderful when done and to be honest, I’m quite pleased with how tidy it’s all looking.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Yay to the loft clearance @mhagster
I love ticking off jobls like that.
Happy happiness and of course birthday @Vascodakarma
Lol @Wednesday2000 We keep linen and towels in ours. We only have a third of a wardrobe each as the middle is shelves. Its not half as tidy as yours at the bottloms either. Shoes in mine and both our work clothes in his. We do get out into the garden or DIY on a regular basis.
Good work with the cleaning in DS1s room @QueenJess. DD is great at clearing and decluttering. I educated her so she didn't get like me. Always when she buys something or a pile of somethings go out. I wish someone had done the same for me.
@vulpix. Hope you have a great time with DD and Bf
So I have just had a weekend away in London. Managed to visit The Brisish Museum exhibition about gold in wrtings and books, a short visit to Kew Gardens and a visit to Hyper Japan. A whole event aimed at people who are into the Japanese culture though most of the stalls were to do with anime and Manga. I went with my youngest Dsis and 2 Nieces. it was hard going at times as oldest niece not fit and v. slow. Had a good time in general though.
Only one night away and lots of steps walked.
Today got rid of a large item, wobled polycarbonate sheeting, and got paid too. Also sold some books so they have gone. Doing well at the moment with online sales.
