Our local council collect rags fortnightly with recycling. Some charity shops if you clearly label them as rags.I must admit it does feel a little odd sending your discarded smalls off into the unknown with a stranger 😉 Not as disconcerting though as the time I’d bagged up a load of undies to take upstairs after washing and my DBro mistook this for the bag of charity he was going to take out. Fortunately he realised that they were not donations but only after he’d left the house and walked into town. My undies spent a lovely afternoon going round town and then stopped off for a pint before returning to me!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@Liverpool_Anne how awful for your friend. Sadly after my experience it doesn't surprise me. I will be glad when the money actually hits my account.
Well 50 degrees on my patio maybe 40 air temperature but way too hot to do anything. So yesterday when in loft I noticed some alcohol in the loft. I suspect maybe from my Mother in laws.......so at least 4 years it has been in the loft. Two bottles of ginger wine. One had been opened. I googled it and apparently it only lasts 2 months once opened , so bottle one emptied and bottle put into the recycling.
Now a question. Is the other bottle (still sealed ) likely to be any good?
I would never drink it as I don't like ginger so should I chuck it anyway?
Should I find someone who likes it and give it to them. Neither of my children would drink it.
Staying holed up in my lounge with fan and frozen water for the rest of the day and working on my holiday plans.😂
Stay safe and cool everyone
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D9 -
Thanks for the advice on old socks, etc.
Will take a bagful next time go to the city, much too hot for now!9 -
For the rags: in Belgium, major chains give a discount when you hand in a bagful of old textiles (in whatever shape or form, as long as they are clean). This includes at least C&A's and H&M's; they give a voucher of a 15% discount on (one item of) your purchase, valid for 3 months.

Hello all, we have a bit of rain, big spots too ! Don't think it will last though and it's still 30 degrees. We could do with a bit of rain just to damp the dust and the air to smell a bit fresher. I hope everyone is keeping cool if you're in the heat.
Today I finally tackled the 2 cupboards and out went another round TV aerial, think they must be breeding 😂 Into the recycling box many empty boxes of prescribed meds, I wish DH would throw his out when they are empty. My daily meds come in 2 almost full boxes and 2 half boxes ( 2 types ) so I put the half box into the almost full box, I wish that's how they could arrive as it would probably save a tree somewhere 😀🌳
I found 3 gold wrist watches, all boxed, to add to my collection. I don't want to get rid of any of them because they have been given to me over the years by DH. I can't wear them now though, even though the faces get bigger every time, that is unless I want to wear them for show and I don't need to read the time 🤣 My eyesight has deteriorated rapidly over the years, so I'm going to be expecting to wear Big Ben on my wrist shortly ⏰ Add to those the one that I wear every day and two of my late DM's, so 5 altogether so far, but I'm sure there's a Tim*x with a light up face that was my late MIL's somewhere too. Blimey I could start my own shop !!
This afternoon I'm going to declutter some more hair at the hairdressers, I had it cut from really long to shoulder length but it's so thick and unruly that I'm going layered and shorter, I just hope my hairdresser doesn't get too scissor happy 😱
Well the rain is stopping and starting but the temperature has now dropped 4 degrees and the air smells fresher already 👍
Take care all, happy decluttering, even if it's only one item out it's a success.

I am sorry teacher girl, I read and don’t always post then the thread moves so quickly. So pleased that you have the end in sight with the insurance company. It is shocking to hear of such incompetence at such a difficult time for you. Disgraceful.Vx:9

Hello. Just a quick update. I’m on house arrest with a doggy who is home and recuperating well. So I’ve started making piles for appropriate peoples…for photos and certificate-y type bumph. So today I’ve went through a suitcase full and a big box full. Suitcase can go to charity.Have offered a big pile of stationery on local FB page ( got rid of all 4 lots over weekend)
Boss is taking another pile of stuff too.And the random back loofah doodah DD2 thinks will be good for self tanning!A whole load of blurry / no idea who you are/random views that mean absolutely nothing to me photographs binned .A pile of paper in recycling bin.So I actually feel like I’ve achieved something though I’m not round there today.Have also decluttered second job for the week! Yay! My shifts are being kindly covered so I can stay home with doggy.Edited : went round for an hour. Emptied freezer contents into food waste bin and switched off plug. Put plenty of towels down and I’m sure it will be defrosted quickly in this heat!Cut some lovely roses and buddleia and cornflowers and brought round a lovely crystal vase from mums.Watered the garden. Picked about 30 weeds but way too hot!9 -
Siebrie said:The last 2 weeks I have worked mornings only, as my 2 dds are on their summer break from 1 July until 31 August (9 weeks...). With the ongoing renovation, and other things we had to arrange (like the small admin backlog), it was going quite well. This week, I work fulltime on Monday and Tuesday, I have to drop dd2 (11) off at her summer course (building robots), and dd1 (14) was supposed to go to the hairdresser's today, by bus. And the stress is back! I have to work today, then standard half-day tomorrow, and then have a break for 2.5 weeks, going back to mornings only for the rest of August. I'm going to have a serious discussion with my husband about working fewer hours permanently. He has just had a change of job - semi-promotion within his firm, and is in contract discussions, so maybe he will succeed in obtaining a raise.
