I haven’t posted since the beginning of February, Covid was so much worse that I’d either hoped for or expected and I didn’t manage to get out of bed for 3 weeks or to leave the house for 8 weeks. It’s still a massive struggle, my fear was having ME with Long Covid on top and that’s what’s happened. I’ve had to resign from my job as I’d been on long term sick and could see no hope of returning any time soon. I wasn’t being paid so it hasn’t really made it any harder than it already was but it’s so disappointing.
I’ve finally managed to catch up on 4 months of posts, I’m sorry some are having a tough time, thinking of you all.
Mrs SD, so glad you had a fabulous holiday and excited for your trip to St Lucia too. We won’t be going anywhere in the summer holidays, I’m still feeling rubbish but mainly because myself and DD are still waiting for our passports to come back, different passport offices and both 14 weeks waiting and counting, so we couldn’t book anything even if we wanted to.
So, I haven’t actually posted any decluttering since the end of January, so whilst it appears I’ve been productive, it’s nearly 6 months worth of stuff.
February: 1 large tinsel reindeer (I’ll count him as 1 bag!), a Sound Bar (another bag) both despatched via our local freebies site and 1 bag of mixed bits, clothes, books and kids toys to the local RSPCA shop.
March: 1 bag of clothes and kids books to the RSPCA shop and a sky box with 2 remotes, a buggy umbrella, kids twistergraph and 4 boxes of ice cube bags (which I’ll count as 1 bag) via our local freebies site.
May: 1 bag to the charity shop, DS2’s cotbed sold via Facebook (counts as 1.5 bags), 1 bag to fabric recycling, 1 bag to shoe recycling.
Both DD and DS2 got off their stabilisers, so DD got a new bike for her birthday and DS moved up a size to one we already had, so 2 bikes went to new homes through the local freebies site (I’ll count them as 1 bag each). Also through freebies we got rid of a bag of baby toys, a playmat (1 bag), 2 car seat tidy’s and a random Mac book charger (half a bag).
June: Toddler Duvet and Toddler bedding (1 bag) to a friend.
July: DH took a week off work and we’ve redecorated the kids rooms, moved them round, got new furniture and much more sensible storage and now have DS1 and DS2 sharing, DS2’s box room will become the office but we’re too exhausted to contemplate that for a bit. A wardrobe and bookcase went to a new home through the freebies site as did DD’s frozen dressing table as she’s got a more grown up desk now. Another wardrobe and bookcase went to the tip, along with a chest of draws and a cabin bed, I’ll say that’s the equivalent of 12 bags.
I’m still sorting out their books and toys, so they’ll be more to go but I need a rest first. I’m into the routine of a week of doing bits and then two weeks sleeping and doing the bare minimum like laundry and cooking, although the kids are getting much more freezer beige than they are used to, they seem unbothered by this though!!
26 bags to add to my total, so a total for the year so far of 52. 52 was my original yearly aim, so I think I’ll amend it and try for 72, which would be 4 bags a month until the end of the year.
Love to all xxx

Nice to have you back sticky. X
out. Smart watch. Not so smart after all. Won’t charge. Also out it’s box and instructions.A joiner has turned up at 8am. A welcome surprise. We were just on our way out the door. I take Mr V to work on Wednesdays so I can have the car and take my Mum to a coffee morning. Spent 10 minutes emptying the giant shed so it can be insulated.A contractor for the council turned up yesterday. Very quick I must say after my traumatic phone call last week. Yes it is Himalayan balsam and yes I have done the right thing by pulling it up. No further action. So I will have to keep pulling it up every year. The top garden is extremely verdant. Growth as tall as me. So not that tall then! The guy was asking me if I would be making a garden up there. Maybe. It would be a huge amount of work even just to have a wild garden. It’s wild now but definitely not in a pretty way.Later I plan to clean the back door and do the first coat of paint. I bought it so long ago I think it’s a blue colour. Or could be green. Whichever it is on the heritage type of pallet.People coming to stay/visit in a few weeks is spurring me on to get stuff done.Love to you all.Vx:8 -
Out of the TLC carriage into the corridor of OVERWHELM 😱😭 and,of course, 🥵 doesn't help at all.
I'm impressed by your ability to create a plan and follow it. My decluttering journey has been rather more haphazard- but I must remind myself that I have meandered a long way and now have floor! But still sooo much stuff. Which I don't want DS to have to deal with when I'm gone.
And breathe....
I have brought 2 boxes home from work. Empty boxes!!! Today I will fill the smaller box with books to take to cs....there's a limit to how much I can carry. And the slightly bigger box? ....Will be a receptacle for some of DS's trophies. Not the organised ones at this point, the plonked where there was a horizontal surface when he came home having won one ones. DS can then take the box to his house.
That's a (re)start. And feels achievable. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to continue

Going paddle boarding with a friend today. Walked dogs at 6.00am to avoid heat(walk very short as they are so old)
Still nothing from the P********** and I think I tweeted on a famous persons post yesterday who was complaining about A similar thing.
So I tried to print of my waterways license.(at 7.00am) Obviously today is the day for the printer not to work. Did all the maintenance check things and whilst it was doing this I shredded all the paper from yesterday. Then I decluttered the notice board. Then as some of the checks take forever, I went through the bag I had bought back from Dorset and sorted bits for the dog rescue or charity shop....bag now Empty.
Got out spare Ink...only to find it has been there so long it has dried up 🤦🏼♀️
They will have to see my license on my phone.
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D9 -
@roundtuit just remember: 'every little helps!'Moving your DS' possessions to his own house seems an excellent start. @Siebrie - my mse signature more or less says that....and I still forget.
There will be a steady stream of 'stuff' heading out to DS. They have recently moved house and I held off until they moved....but I've already warned his GF that there's a tent and several suits heading her way. I didn't mention the myriad fancy dress costumes, and the rather large bag of cricket gear - but they're going to live with her too. And, you're so right, they're easy to let go because they're not mine.
I just had a decluttering 'moment' - I expect one of you threw one in my direction because it wasn't one of mine 🙄😊. I went to the bin to recycle several ice cream tubs + lids, that I do NOT need to keep in case they're useful too put things in. 😇. Looked at the pile of plant and flower pots stashed by the bins and .... emptied all the (dead) contents onto the border, stacked the pots inside one another, AND put the biggest, and by far the tattiest pot (erm...broken?) in the bin. Been thinking about doing that for ages. That made room for the bins to be shifted along so now they're not visible from the kitchen door.
I believe there is a plastic table and chairs in the wooden shed. I'll move the recycling boxes out of sight (by the stacked pots), put the table / chairs there and I can sit outside too. Hmmm I'll need to give the window to the outside toilet (not used) / brick shed a good clean too. Don't want to sit beside a grotty window.
It won't be as scenic as was it @vulpix ? lovely garden, but I do believe it's a plan!
Did you know that you are contagious? I seem to be catching it. 😯
Right...lunch, then a box of books. I've WUDUPA too

I'm thinking of putting the empty plant / flower pots at the gate with a Free sign.
I may need to lie down!

Hello all, we have been over the caravan today changing the toilet flush, the old broken one has been binned now. I cleaned the bathroom after DH had finished so all the inside cleaning has been done 👏 I still have one pair of washed curtains to go back up today but my strength has left the building. I have done a small wash which is on the line, it should dry even though it's overcast. There is a bedroom cupboard that needs my attention too, you know one of those where you put things in and quickly withdraw your hand, hopefully without injury before the avalanche happens 😱 In my defence it's full of DH's rubbish stuff 🤨
roundtuit I'm another haphazard declutterer but I prefer it when DH tells me that I have a butterfly mind 🦋 I am never logical or able to stay on track 😂
Sticky welcome back, sorry to see that you have been so poorly. Hope your health improves soon.
Hugs to anyone in the TLC carriage, poorly or in need dealing with daily issues.
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8
