Got a good amount of stuff out in the last 24 hours. 4 bags to cs. To be fair, it wasn't my stuff, DD3 dropped it off, I rationalised it as some charity shops in town don't take stuff others do, kept 2 brand new pairs of pj bottoms (my pjs are ancient) and then dropped them off.
Egg boxes to the market stall which sells eggs, they're always glad of them.
Load of soft plastics to T*sc* recycling.
Dug out a large clump of bamboo, great achievement and a good workout. My proudest achievement of the day actually.
I'm planning to tackle some frogs later today. Mine always seem to be admin type stuff, phone calls or emails, or listing things for sale. Some of the admin tasks cause me a lot of anxiety, bringing up unpleasant memories, but putting them off only keeps the anxiety going. No idea what's going on with the selling, I've sold lots of stuff, so far with no major problems. Must just get on with it, need the space and the cash.
Currently making stock for a chicken and noodle soup for later.
Thanks to @Mrs_Salad_Dodger & @Floss for the sachiko tips, will initially look through our cs for needles and leather pad, just in case, they're the only places which sell haberdashery round here. Just thought T*sc* might have a suitable needle but I think their haberdashery is too general.
@Siebrie, bit late to reply, but for some reason your advice to put like with like when decluttering suddenly clicked when you suggested it to me. I was familiar with the concept but it suddenly made sense. Thanks. I must be a slow learner.13 -
So yesterday the tent did go for £150 thanks for the crossed fingers @nannywindow. Lovely older couple who knew the value of the tent(was old but very good quality and barely used) They were experienced campers and this was just what they were looking for (though it did mean they didn't want anything else)
@thanks for info re In-Laws @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. (love the name by the way)
Well today didn't start very well. Since becoming a widow I try and see someone everyday, the friend I was walking with had to cancel and it was pouring with rain so I couldn't get in my garden. On top of this I slept extremely badly last night and was still awake at 4.00am.(happens sometimes)
So I made a plan to declutter the study. This isn't in anyway the worst room but it is where I am doing the admin and stuff so it seemed like a plan.
There was a CD rack, not full and can't even remember the last time I used , so took everything off of there. Sorted bits for keeping and bits for giving away and moved them all somewhere else. Which then had a knock on effect..ie I had to clear room on the shelves in the cupboard under the stairs...so more CDs and DVDs sorted for giving away.
I stuck the bit back on the blind in the study(has been on the floor for at least 10 years) So far it hasn't fallen off. Spent another two hours clearing and sorting. Realised it had taken all the time to just clear the top of the filing cabinet!!!
Took dog to vet. Still on antibiotics but a definite improvement so that is good news.
Did a couple of Frogs and contacted the dentist.(It is impossible to get on a dentist list here so I was worried they might have booted me off the list, as had to decline last appointment when hubby was shielding) But Ok and I have a check up in August. Then phoned the Jewellers to ask what was happening with my engagement ring. Had been in repairs since March. Turns out they had it and I could pick it up.
Also phoned my credit card company as they had accidentally cancelled my card instead of my husbands and they are sending it out to arrive tomorrow and giving me compensation.
Went in the loft for some easy bits to make it worth the trip to the dump . (Found my daughters old school paintball dried up in plastic bags falling to bits)
Went to dump, gave the old man my radio, he was so chuffed he is buying me chocolates (even though I told him not to) and carried my stuff to the dumpsters) Picked up engagement ring. So pleased to have it back.
Came home fell asleep on the sofa😂
@GrannyKate Big hug...hope things improve soon.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D13 -
Quick nip back round this evening. Charity shop had texted me the time for collection tomorrow between 9-10am so still had a dining chair to bring down from a bedroom ( ya know…already four chairs in that room! )
Grabbed the pile of books I’d bagged earlier and another 15 dropped into supermarket and another posy of roses picked! I think by this time next week I should have got rid of all the books! Unless I find more which is quite the possibility!8 -
RL still taken over but did look out some loyalty cards, and emailed to see if still valid, 2 cut up and out, and Debenhams gift card no longer valid, a few things filed, frog remailed to DB to check, some garden tidying and decluttering, few enquiries re APD. @nannywindow glad discussion helped, apparently affects 2- 10% of the population - a wide guestimate. Love my study which was cleared for the ceiling to be done, and tempted not to put things back but can't move in other rooms. DD2 has just been accepted to volunteer at BHF CS for her Duke of Edinburgh so hopefully may encourage her to pass things on (suddenly realised she may find things to bring back

Hi all, 3 loads of washing done and line dried before the rain arrived
Lovely neighbour going on holiday so got instructions about what plants to water etc and what to do with the post though this is not urgent as her daughter is having a new bathroom fitted and various family members are popping round to use the shower so they will deal with it. It is taking a while as her DH is doing it after work and at weekends
I made 3 rhubarb crumbles and a cherry crumble but I still have loads of rhubarb left so will sort that tomorrow.
Booked accommodation for visit to niece, it took a while as the only hotel in the place she is house sitting was very expensive so not really knowing the area very well I had to do a bit of research into how far away the cheaper hotels were, finally managed to get somewhere for half the price that is about 10 minutes drive away so happy about that
I got a parcel today that was supposed to be my new secateurs and a spare blade but it was only the blade. I was suspicious as a corner of the padded envelope was torn and hand written on the label it said blade + secateurs. I wasn't sure if the secateurs were being sent separately or had been taken out of the parcel. I ordered them through the big river place but it was from a different seller so I phoned them and spoke to a lovely lady who thanked me for phoning her rather than contacting the big river place as it would have been a negative feedback for them and she said she would send me another pair by first class post. I assured her that wasn't necessary as it wasn't her fault someone in the delivery chain had got light fingers as long as I knew they were on their way. I call that really good service, I was expecting a bit of hassle but no problem and I just hope she has some way to recoup her loss.
Another small pebble has been removed from the ironing mountain but I need to do more if I want to be sorted for the family visiting
Swimming tonight and managed 32 lengths again but I possibly could have done another couple but the pool guys were looking keen to finish
@mhagster sorry for the confusion with aunty / sister. I was a bit tired and didn't process what you had written. I must say you are doing amazingly well. It took me much longer to sort my Mum's house when she died and I did bring a lot of stuff home to be stored in my loft for a while as I struggled to just get rid of it. My sister left 3 days after the funeral with what she wanted in her car and I sorted the rest of the house. I have since sorted through the stuff in the loft and it has mostly been given away or binned or used but it took me ages to face it.
Hugs to those that need them
Take care everyone8 -
Another strange week. One roommate still drinking. Claimed his girl friend was coming to visit that he met on-line, but thankfully she didn't come. If she is the least bit serious, I doubt she wants a swearing drunk as a boy friend. Other male roommate doing better, actually made it to work two days this week so far. He has been cleaning the trash up from in front of the house (behind a garage so not seen from the street), almost caught up. We have filled up our trash cans each week now - no empty spaces in any of them. Female roommate throwing a three-year old tantrum. She knows she has to clean her room because she has library books way overdue that they are charging her for - $250 or more. But she won't do anything to look for them - I have found the last four she has found to be returned. She has been throwing a fit for several hours now. I have had a tremendous headache as a result - but I did manage to get the bills paid to date, help a couple of people with their genealogy and do the grocery shopping. I am trying to ignore her. I may just get in on the train in the TLC car and relax. I even have my P&G Tips to make myself some tea.9

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedWednesday I continued to be lazy so DH ordered Chinese. Wudupa.
Thursday was more of the same - some sun, some rain but mainly overcast. Wrote a shopping list for DH. DSis did her washing & dried in td. I had a long, relaxing bath & washed hair. Dinner was the 2nd half of the Chinese. Wudupa.
1000 - 1011 Kitchen recycling x 2, plastic bottle, 7 takeaway boxes & lids, 2 magazines - recycled

Yippee to having your sitting room back vulpix 🥳 As MrV’s shed is so large, perhaps you can store more items in it 😉 I hope you are treating your builders well - plenty of tea/coffee, cake & biscuits 😉 Good luck with the cleaning or painting, whichever you decide to do 🍀

I am gingerly stepping out of the TLC carriage, but trying to take things easier. I really am in maintenance mode now with the house and just targeting the odd drawer or wardrobe where things are starting to pile up. I’m also clearing out all the kitchen cupboards, fridge and freezer of food to start again, but that one will take months to get through everything that is there.
Yesterday I chased up people who didn’t pick up some unwanted plant pots before I was ill. They’ve now been collected. The fridge is slowly going down as I sort out one thing every time I open it up. In spare odd 5 mins when I am waiting for something I went through 2 drawers of DDs clothes and have bagged up everything that’s too small for charity. I also got rid of 4 plastic containers in the kitchen as the drawer is far too busy and I don’t use these ones. My inbox is a work in progress, but is now below 150 emails.

We filled out our tax form and sent it in! Major frog gone! (We're in Belgium; the deadline for electronic filing is 14 July.) Husband is leaving for his mothercountry tomorrow night, and will be gone for 2 months. The digital ID identification usually gives problems, so I wanted him actually next to me when filling out the forms. Most items come pre-filled, we just have to check them and add whatever we spent on childcare, donations, and what we received for commute compensation. The builders are still hard at work. We had to make some changes to the plans, because what looked nice on paper, was narrow and squashed in real life. They also 'forgot' to add finishing 2 walls (1 plaster, 1 gyproc) to the offer, and are now charging nicely for adding them....The renovation job they first said would take a month, then said would only take 2 weeks, will now take 3 weeks. Not too bad, for work we cannot do ourselves. Husband is saying they should stop and he will finish, but I know him, so I'm letting the builders continue. It may be more expensive than when we do it ourselves, it will also be finished, and finished well. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.598
