Thankyou @TripleH That would be much appreciated. She is looking for a two bedroomed house within 5 miles of Salford Quays.
Thankyou MrsSD. It was a lovely break and the open roads almost empty once away from cities and towns.
So the weather has finally turned and its raining. Yahoo. I can now have a rest from the watering and paint my bathroom ceiling instead.

So its just past 11.00am and I have sorted out 50 books for recycling. 10 are bagged ready for the charity shop and the other 40 I took to the book recycling scheme. These are all from the summerhouse which has two bookcases in it. I want to get this down to just one, as my son is going to be taking the table to his new house and I want it all decluttered to become a little haven where I can go and sit.
I also took a big bag of garden waste to the dump as it is going to rain this afternoon and its not a nice job in the rain. The nice man at the tip who helps me unload noticed my waste bag had a hole and gave me a better one. I also took a radio to the small electrical area ,he said he wanted a small radio so I have said I will declutter one of mine to him🤣
so a productive morning. Just waiting for the vet to phone as my little dog has pneumonia and has now stopped eating. She is a diva and bizarrely is actually Ok in herself but obviously she cannot go on like this🤦♀️ Just need to know if we are going to change her meds or if she has to go for a visit!Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D10 -
@bit_by_bit right, apologies I have no specific advice am afraid. My knowledge is purely on flats to rent in the Manchester area. All I would say is to look along the tramlines. The trams are pretty reliable and all lines are served by 4 stations so its not too hard to change from one line to the next.May you find your sister soon Helli.

A small amount of decluttering today but quite a big step forward. I went through the tray of doom, basically a dumping ground for any paperwork that finds its way into the house. I put away everything I could into my mini filing box, which leaves me with a few bits to rehome, a small folder of shredding and 4 suspension files for the recycling bin. I'm going to count that as 5 items to add to my total. Next step - go through each wallet in the mini filing box and shred everything that is no longer in date. I volunteer on a webchat helpline for 2 hours on Monday mornings, so I'm going to use any down time during calls to work on that each week. I love it when a plan comes together!3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. Yesterday I managed quite a bit of decluttering while keeping an eye on Dog - who is continuing to improve.
It was too hot to do any work outside for most of the day, so bearing in mind @GrannyKate 's advice a week ago, I tackled a Container of Doom. It was one I'd attempted more than once previously but I was determined to sort it properly. It is now empty with its contents either rehomed, shredded or binned. Mostly shredded actually.
Now the container can be put to better use than holding an odd assortment of items I was undecided about. A large bagful of shredding went into the bin as a result of the in-tray and yesterday's decluttering. I feel freer, somehow, just achieving this much. More optimistic.
3 items out of the conservatory to their real homes.
Decluttered the fridge veg drawer, did a big tray of roasted veg and gave the drawer a good clean. Sadly some veg only good for the compost heap.
Leaking, unrepairable, inflatable mattress went into the bin, so something else out of my bedroom.
I realised after dealing with the Container of Doom that I have several such things about the place that I just stopped seeing but I can definitely tackle. I think I'm in a better decluttering state of mind now, not paralysed by "It might come in useful someday" thinking. i'm not getting rid of everything but being more realistic.
Next... the Basket of Doom, which definitely has a good number of Might Come in Useful Sometime items.

@Wildrose - looks you are having some success - slow and steady wins the race.
Difficult morning in RL with messages flying about between DS2 and ex whilst I was trying to participate in workshop on Zoom. Banging heads together springs to mind.
932 Four old postcards (all 100 years+) sent to Ireland for a museum/house to which the original recipients have connections. Glad to re-home them meaningfully rather than recycle them.
933 More postcards shared on line for local interest
934 Calor gas bottle returned to supplier. Some debate but they took it eventually after older man intervened. Late DH bought it there 20 years ago. I could hardly pick it up and have been dusting it in the garage. A long term frog dealt with.
935 On line workshop done but need to write up notes
936 Card and letters posted and extra stamps bought
937 Junk mail in letter box and straight to recycling - what are micro bladed eyebrows anyway?2025 Decluttering Campaign 682/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Out a broken salt grinder and an empty spray bottle of high foot traffic cleaner. All my house bins have been emptied as the bins and recycling go out tonight. I fell off the decluttering wagon this morning and I bought myself a new gardening book, but in my defence I did use my own birthday money 😁 I have to attack my gardening shed again next as I know I have some weed suppressant fabric pegs in there, somewhere, because I've bought a new roll as the last lot disintegrated when I took it up. I did manage to save all the gravel though so no need to buy that.
Wildrose and Teachergirl hugs and healing vibes to your furry pals.
MrsSD no need for bread, just bring a spoon 🥄 !
nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8 -
@Wildrose "Filed, recycled and shredded so now the in tray is empty and I'm wondering whether to keep it as it seems to have become a dumping tray. Mended a sun catcher my grandsons had made for me after I found the missing bits in the in-tray. See what I mean about Dumping-tray?"When I grew up we actually had a 'dumping drawer', where any pieces we found (puzzles, buttons, dice, pencils, etc) were put until we had time to put them away properly, or where we went to if the game we were trying to play missed pieces. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.598

The decluttering has fallen by the wayside since I moved to my new house. I've been accumulating like crazy! There are lots of nice charity shops in the area that I have bought a lot of new things from.
It is time to turn over a new leaf. I have to get rid of some bulky waste to the council this week and I have two bags of clothes for the chazzers too. I also have a couple of mirrors and photo frames to donate.:)7 -
The renovation of dds' bedroom started last Monday and is progressing steadily. We had a few surprises and had to make some changes to the original plan due to the unexpected state of the ceiling beams of the first floor. Husband was upset, but it's just one these things. The structure of the house actually should be more stable now.Husband also tried to persuade the 2 workmen to do some work that's not listed on the offer, in black (removal of a small brick wall we said we would do ourselves). I told him they wouldn't, as they seemed very proper, and very pleased to work all legal. I was right, and now he has to do it himself
Sorry if this comes off as gleeful, but we agreed beforehand to do as much as possible ourselves, and as usual, he tries to whittle his way out of our agreement.
I can't do very much heavy work at the moment, as I fell with my bicycle avoiding a collission with a fast-driving car (that should have stopped at the stopsign) and have a sprained right thumb and wrist and several bruises. Thank goodness I tightened the straps on my helmet just a few days before! The X-ray pictures that were taken of my hands showed no fractures, but the radiologist did note that I have the beginnings of arthritis in both thumbs....I'm actually looking forward to decorating, painting, sorting, transferring diy-skills to dds, making sure their rooms start off with just the basics, easy cleaning. Husband is in his mothercountry all July and August, so it'll come down to me.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.598
