The only decluttering that happened today, apart from a full garden waste bin emptied by the council, was nearly £400 decluttered from my account as my dog had a health crisis. Seems a slight heart murmur started causing problems. Fortunately I have pet insurance so I'll only pay the first £125 and even more fortunately I got vet help straight away. Dog is snoozing on his bed now, having had his first meds and scaring me half to death today. I spent hours just watching him breathe.
Yesterday I did Two from the Conservatory to make up for missing the day before. It seems to have turned into Every Other Day from the Conservatory. Anyhow, my pruning saw and a mitre block were put in their homes in the tool shed. I gave a necklace to my grand-daughter which she was delighted with. It had been pressed upon me the day before and although it's a pretty little necklace I knew I would never wear it as it's not quite my thing. I also decluttered my in tray as it was overflowing onto my desk. Did a proper job, took well over an hour. Made an appointment for a medical test when I found the letter which had been languishing in the tray for a month. Filed, recycled and shredded so now the in tray is empty and I'm wondering whether to keep it as it seems to have become a dumping tray. Mended a sun catcher my grandsons had made for me after I found the missing bits in the in-tray. See what I mean about Dumping-tray?
I know I did other things but the stress of the day has wiped it from my memory. Oh yes, I dealt with another Frog.
Good to see everyone doing something, no matter how samll despite poor sleep, grief and RL getting in the way, getting lost on the EDT train
I meant to take a bag of books to the Sainsbys charity table but when I looked at the money I could get for some of them online I photographed them and listed them instead. Glad I did as it was only yesterday and I sold four in 24hrs, one to the value of £20.00
I am collecting a second bag of stuff I know is of less value now and taking it over the weekend.
So no actual decluttering but did get some jobs done on the allotment. It was so hot yesterday I could hardly move and had to go to bed with a stinking headache.. Glad I mulched before my holiday as those area have no weeds still.

Hi all, yesterday was hot again and I tried to jet wash lovely neighbour's front but I couldn't get the washer to work so I gave it a hose with a stiff brush but I wasn't happy with it. I did a small repair to my swimming costume so the foam pads in the bra section don't go wondering around every time they are washed I did a small amount of weeding but it is sitting in the big bag waiting for the stuff in the bin to drop and I stopped when it started to rain. We were late for swimming as OH had fallen asleep so I only managed to fit in 26 lengths. Today was very overcast but warm and I managed to get the swim kit washed and on the line and dried before the rain arrived. I fiddled around with the jet washer and got it working. No idea really what was wrong with it, must have been the way I threatened it with the tip if it didn't work. So I jet washed lovely neighbour's front and it looks much better. Much better than mine as well so that has been added to my to do list I have filled the bag of garden weeds until I can get it in the bin. I made a nice veggie shepherd's pie for tea and OH actually did the wu though it is on the draining board still but at least it's off the work surface, and there is lo pie in the fridge for tomorrow.. My laptop is playing silly b*ggers and keeps just shutting down so I suspect I need to get some stuff deleted and will try to get to it tomorrow but I also need to go shopping for 2 birthday presents tomorrow and a gift for my niece who I am hoping to see in a couple of weeks Sorry I have read all the posts but my brain is starting to go to sleep so I will just say hugs to everyone who would like one or who needs one. Keep up the good work but make sure you look after yourself Take care everyone
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Friday has been an overcast but warm day - still waiting for more than a few drops of rain 😉 With our mini conversation about Sashiko mending - I spent quite some time repairing two holes - one in each leg - in my camouflage trousers 😉 This counts as my Friday frog as it was the last piece of mending left from our holiday 😉
I did resort to chain stitch for the left hand side repair 🙂 The bit of material you can see at the top of the picture is the dress that I strengthened the beading thread - need to hand wash & line dry. Dinner was pork steaks, mash, broccoli spears + fried up lo mash & plum tomatoes from yesterday.
Wudupa.

Gorgeous outdoor room, EnergyShifter ☺️ Don’t worry about the size of the photo - I have yet to work out how to do it 😉 Beautiful flowers 💐 I might be a bit odd but I also like the rest of your garden 🙂
GrannyKate,I do recall last years conversation about notepads, notebooks & all things stationery 😉 with many of us ‘admitting’ to fairly large stashes of stationery 😂 So very well done on starting on your 2nd notepad 👏 Good luck with the postcards - social commentary at its best 🙂
nannywindow, definitely with you on pen to paper rather than typing especially as I am a one finger typist 😬 😉 My problem is that I use every type of weather as an excuse not to declutter 🤣🤣 Well done on cutting the hedge 👏 & good luck with the clothes sorting/decluttering 🍀
EnergyShifter, surely the playhouse came in useful as a hideaway 😂
Sorry to hear RL is challenging at the moment, vulpix ☹️ but pleased to note that you are enjoying admiring your backyard 👏 Shame about the abandoned shed but fingers crossed that the council gets its act together 🤞
Welcome aboard the EDT, keran77 👋 We love to see new people ☺️ Congratulations on your retirement 🙂 Not too sure I would have lasted 20+ minutes as a teacher, let alone 20+ years 😁😉 What a generous gift & a great start to your decluttering journey 👏 A garage full of Justins & Rons - sounds familiar 😉
mhagster - how exciting hundreds of everythings 😉 Excellent decluttering - 5 very full boxes & a very full bag + bag of clothes + books - you have been busy 👏
What a great idea for vulpix weenancy 👏 Let nature take over 🙂
TC77 you can only do what you can do 🙂 As to all the equipment, it amazes me that the NHS doesn’t have some sort of maintenance department that can check over various medical items & put them back into service 😔 Good luck with emptying the two rooms 🍀 Getting ceilings painted might be “a small amount of decorating” but from my viewpoint it is the most difficult & needs to be done in one session 🙂 I do know that my DH hates painting ceilings 😉
Sorry to hear about your dog’s health crisis, Wildrose ☹️ but great news that you were able to access a vet so quickly 🙂 Excellent in-tray decluttering 👏 Personally I would keep the in-tray as it appears you put everything in it & an hour of work leads to so much done/dealt with 🙂 As long as you only have one Dumping-tray 😉🙃 Well done on dealing with a 2nd frog 👏
bit_by_bit, perhaps I should put some signs up on the EDT 😉 or maybe give everyone a map 😉 I have to say that selling books & finding other books for MrS sounds like decluttering to me 👏 Hope the headache has gone 🤞 sounds like you did too much work on the allotment & possibly didn’t drink enough 😔

Welcome Keran , you are in good company here. We look forward to hearing all about your decluttering journey.
Hope your dog is feeling better now wildrose.
I post on my phone these days and auto correct is a bane for me. 🤣
Mrs SD your efforts in cheerleading are all the more incredible if you only type with one finger Loving the mending. I had to talk my Mum into mending DS dark green work jumper elbow with bright red wool. It looked mint. She wasn’t happy. 🤣
The abandoned shed is a tricky one and nature is already reclaiming it. It is the size of a double garage with a hanging off metal roof. The land is unregistered. So not really council responsibility although I did get them to cut down the dangerous oak tree and tow the abandoned car. It is an old lane which led to the weaving mill. I live next to it in a weavers cottage. The mill was demolished in the 80’s and bungalows built. The lane goes nowhere and it is a wildlife haven between houses and the deciduous wood. In the wood is a broken land drain which our councillor is trying to get the land owner to do something about. The retaining wall to the wood is also fallen down in places. A very slow job to get movement. In the future I may claim some of the land and extend my garden. We claimed the land at the side where the air raid shelter was. We just paid legal fees. Baby steps with this frog. 🐸
out broken dish, church candle and rapid flow tests given away.
I am meeting up with my lovely friend from here later. Open garden trail. I will fob her off/ erm I mean gift to her a sizeable bug hotel a large amount of plastic plant pots and a huge amount of baby blankets (about 12) for her friend to take to a maternity hospital in Africa.
Not much decluttering done recently apart from the odd bit of packaging to my tip. They are pretty good here - take almost everything at both tips in the borough and things like paint at just one.
I've been doing more work in the garden - for all it is only 6m x 10m, it is taking a lot of remodeling 😁 When I first viewed it was late February and when I moved in it was early August and what had looked relatively tidy & established had been allowed to grow without any control, probably because the previous owner had lost interest.
There was a large bed of balsam (a relative of knotweed 😳) which has now been dug out & all replanted with plants that are setlling in happily, an overgrown shrubbery has been removed at the back and a small rotting raised bed filled with ferns & ivy has been taken out too.
The next project is to make a small water feature with a floating solar fountain, a heap of cobble stones & a gifted belfast sink, all of which are waiting for their turn in the spotlight. And declutter the paint in the shed by painting miles of 5ft fencing!
was round at mums for 7am. Filled my boot with 2 bags of CDs, 2 bags of books. Some kitchen bits I wanted and a bag of photos to sort through. Back home at 8am. Dropped 25 books onto supermarket shelves . Quite a few spaces today.
Took 2 very full bags of CD to charity shop in town. Registered for gift aid there.
Sorted through about 2/3 of the bag of photos first thing then finished them there. Mum travelled all over the world so I acknowledged the nice views then binned the ones that mean nothing to me, recycled the paper envelopes they were in.
Then back round for an hour this afternoon. The charity shop I was in this morning will take tape cassettes so sorted through a mountain of them. Another two bags of books. They are in the hall just to lift next time I’m round. I took the doggy with me…poor soul thinks he’s going to beach as we are in the car…sorry pal it’s just your granny’s 😆 recycled plastic and paper.
And helped myself to more roses and hypericum!
Booked a collection for her downstairs furniture from a charity shop. I think that will make me go gulp when that’s away. That’s for end of the week.
Still loads to do but I’ve certainly made a difference this week. I’m like the little red hen doing it all by myself!
Hello all, apologies for the long post in advance, but I was on a roll with the decluttering 😁 Today I stewed some apples and sad looking pears from the fruit bowl ready to make a crumble. I also boiled the peelings, added a couple of chewy oranges and have left it all to cool and drip tonight till I'm ready to finish making Compost Heap Jelly tomorrow (recipe from Pam Corbin), nothing gets wasted here 😁 Think it will be more marmalady this time though, I can never make 2 batches the same. I used up some lo pasta by added tuna and home pickled beetroot to make myself a salad for lunch 🤤 very tasty ! I have potted up 2 huge geraniums by using up 2 half bags of compost in my unused fountain barrel and I have binned the 2 plastic bags. I had to get DH to help me pull it into position from the back of the house to the front as it was so heavy but now it's in place I can replace the flowers to suit the seasons and the geraniums will be over wintered ready for next year. In the recycling a plastic seed tray, 3 caravan magazines, umpteen pieces of A4 paper which were printed out and now no longer necessary, several leaflets, read and dealt with letters, a large coffee jar and a teabag box, both decanted into their correct containers. Several food boxes have been put into the cardboard recycling bag and the contents have been bagged and put in the freezer because it takes up less room. The craft room has been tidied by DH, well he made the mess and DGD's tack room is now finished ! He has some more jumps to make but he can do that in his shed. Now I can get in there to do some sewing as I have a pair of trousers to take in and a pair of jeans to take up which are too long for me. Then I can start on some mini rugs for DGD's horses. My wardrobe sort out resulted in quite a few thick fleece tops being put away till winter time. 2 t. shirts which were a bit tight for my liking and won't be worn have been put in the cs bag. A short woollen winter coat with a hood, which has been hardly worn and not for at least the last 4 years is in the cs bag too, perhaps it will keep someone warm come the cold weather, it's pointless keeping things that I don't really love. This thread has taught me that ! Thanks a million 🥰 MrsSD great mending, did you get your inspiration from the sewing bee ? I had never seen or heard about that way of doing things before. Take care all, happy decluttering. nan
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
Not sure what has happened but a burst of energy over the past few days has resulted in me listing all my big things that I’d been putting off selling, I borrowed my sons Facebook Market Place and things are leaving the house very quickly, I’m amazed by it.
After finding out I can’t buy the house I’m renting all money is now being shuffled into deposit for a forever home. So every Penny counts and I’ll need to downsize so I’m so glad I found this challenge, have a great weekend, this train moves so fast I can’t keep up with all the posts and news xx
