OH was looking for a wedding gift for a pupil and as I was having a minor sort through the banana boxes I found a very pretty set of coffee cups that have never been used, never been out of the box even so they have been wrapped and gifted and they love them, win win
@florianatwobob I am still in my orchid killing phasewhat is the secret to keeping them alive ?
Take care everyone7 -
@Liverpool_Anne ‘benign neglect’ is the answer to keeping orchids alive. I have two sat on a north east window which is bright but gets very little direct sunshine.I’ve upgraded the pots they’re in from clear plastic to glass but that’s for aesthetic reasons (one pot is actually a glass ice bucket from a charity bric a brac stall but that’s another story). 😉 So long as you can see their roots and their roots can see daylight all is good.As for watering this is where the benign neglect helps….if there are any firm bright green roots it doesn’t need watering, wait until they turn a silvery grey. When the roots are silvery then give them a soak in the sink for half an hour and let them drain as they don’t like to be left soggy. I tend to throw some orchid food in the water every other watering.Once flowered cut the flower spike back to just above a node (looks like a flat triangular leaf on the spike) and fingers crossed it’ll grow some more flowers from there, if you’re really lucky it’ll grow a baby instead. It’s a good idea to cut back to a node if you can as growing a spike takes a lot of energy and it will take the easy way out and flower again from
there if it can. Although the spike may just get the hump and die back regardless. Either way….fairy lights are the answer after flowering 😉✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Decided to tackle some paper admin....20 mins looking for file dividers - too much stationery which I thought was quite well organised. About 5 years ago I was organised but with so much going on less so. Anyway setting up new file with current home things/insurance/mobiles/council tax etc and taking out of plastic folders I tend to use as take up too much space - but other things need filing elsewhere - 3 lots of paper shredded, dealing with Motor Insurance Bureau for DD1 re accident, appts set up and email sent, and 2 other admin frogs but very much a drop on the tip of the iceberg
also ood food. Def ADD as flit from one thing to another but am trying to file things as I go, old receipts out - counting as 8

Magnificent orchid Queen Jess. I get bored with houseplants. Took several to the chazzer recently. Well tbh I just get bored quickly full stop. Very little has a permanent home with me. I like to ring the changes. Watch out Mr V.I have been taking things to my Mum’s house as I intend to do a carboot sale. I work Sundays so I need to decide what to do. If I book holiday it could be raining as it has previously. Hmm. Whatever, my Mum’s front bedroom is a tip. Pontificating on here does help me crystallise my thoughts.In some ways I found it easier to get rid of big and obvious stuff. The small dross that I have to hunt out is more difficult.
I will make the log cabin quilt first. I do not need to buy anything for it and it will use up scraps of wadding. When my craft stash is used🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I will buy what I need for a project and not keep anything left over for Justin.Vx:7 -

I went to a lovely lunchtime Gospel Music concert in my church yesterday - (absolutely joyful!) followed by a walk up Town with DS - it was so busy and combined with my tiredness I did not enjoy it as much as usual. Came home and crashed - woke up at stupid o'clock this morning. Following a week of window related upheaval I am planning to have a very very lazy day today.

Afternoon, hope its sunny where you are. Gorgeous sunshine with us, 3 lots of washing done and on the line. Contemplating whether to strip our bed. Spend day sorting DD's bedroom, stuff everywhere. Made her try clothes on too as she's growing so fast, bribed her with smarties! A lot of things to go and a home for all her clothes, until I do the ironing!
Off for a quick walk in the sunshine. X5 -
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger…thank you,would never have got WUDUPA 😂
Well inspired by my friend who cleared out her shed I took everything off of one set of shelves in the garage. Piling it up outside. Then I went to parkrun and when I came home I had no choice but to sort it. Was only supposed to be 30 minutes but I think I spent nearer 2 hours…on just one set of shelves. Still everything is clean and in boxes now. Threw out the bottom of an umbrella(freecycled the top about two years ago🤦♀️) and an identifiable metal pole. I then made enough waste in the garden to make it worth a dump trip.
Today I was supposed to do 30 minutes in the loft but I decided to to the garage again, mostly because every time I go in I can see my progress. Even though the loft is worse I can’t easily see the progress…if that makes sense. I found 6 boxes(some were small) of kitchen bits which I had stored in the garage whilst we had the kitchen done…about 6 years ago. Easily pared it down to 4 boxes but have hung onto a few bits for a bit longer as my son is in the process of buying a house. Still a good haul for the charity shop and another trip down the dump. Worryingly I am now on first name terms with a couple of the men who work there and they come over and unload my car🤣 I didn’t like to tell them they left a couple of books on the front seat…will have to take them next week.
Going to the solicitor in the morning to update my will and the deeds of the house….I hate sadmin, still it needs to be done. Going out with a friend afterwards so not sure if I will get much decluttering done tomorrowEnough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D6
