Baxtersmum said:Morning DeClutterers 👋
Today is the day before the school term starts here so I have my Grandchildren today & over night for the next two nights, so it’s going to be a calm restful day Lego building and walking.
I’ve taken the dog for a walk to the clothes bank already and dropped in- 2 Pairs of slipper that have a very minimal sole, due to the puppy teething but washed are ok for bulking out a scraps bag of fabric by weight
- 1 pair of age 3 knickers which were so cute and tiny but are outgrown by several years.
I’ve sold some things on eDay but they won’t leave the house until tomorrow at the earliest so I’m at 2017/2022
@balabooberlies
I’m with you on the weight loss, can I join you please? I can weigh in tomorrow, too late today as I’ve already had my brekkie 🍳
Big kiss to Mrs S.D

Great work EcoIntent 👏 You do know you can count emptying, cleaning & restocking 😉 A job like that takes time & effort 🙂elsien, snap with spreadsheets ☹️ Although a handwritten bingo grid did work for a while 😉 until I bought a rather lovely notebook ‘Things To Do Today’ it was even cheap as I bought it in W*lko 👏 As we gradually get back to normal life 🤞 I think keeping your home clean and tidy is the way to go - then you can invite people straight in - on production of a -ve LFT 😂 Sorry about that I went off at a tangent 😔 Not sure I would be brave enough to set an online time log either although I should probably hide the TV remotes 🤣mothernerd an absolute delight to see you ☺️ You have so much to cope with but you do so with such grace and forbearance 🙂 Thank you for sharing your Mantras & explaining how they work - I think many of our fellow declutterers will find them very useful. I am so very sorry to hear that your mum is so ill ☹️ However you are again dealing with the situation with grace - you are absolutely amazing. I am sending your mum get well wishes & hoping that when she is well enough to return home she will have some sort of care package available rather than everything falling to you 🤞 I have lots of hugs available if you are a hugger 😉
Welcome aboard the 2022 EDT, Pennypincin 👋 Lovely to see another new face 🙂 Excellent work & well done on not only decluttering but also on consciously trying to keep clutter out 👏 Keep up the good work 🙂Well done TheCraftyForager 👏 Although making sure the kitchen is tidy before I go to bed is now a habit, I still get great pleasure when I enter the kitchen each day 😁 You have already reaped the benefits & you should be very proud of yourself 🙂 Btw what flavour was the cake & is there any left 😉😉
Oh dear, have just noticed the time 😬 I am off to bed only 4 pages behind 😔MrsSD

Hello Declutterites
I'd love to sign up, please. This challenge is exactly what I need!
I've been on a decluttering journey for a few years, and am determined to crack it this year! We have cardboard boxes of stuff in almost every room of the house. Many of these have moved with us from house to house for decades.
This year I will need to tackle harder things - stuff with emotional and nostalgic attachments. I hope there will be people here who have faced that type of decluttering and will have advice and strategies.
The problem is that we start sorting through things, and get sidetracked by the memories, then start to think we should keep that thing. So decluttering takes hours, and we don't really throw anything out.
My starting goals are:
1. Keep the lounge tidy: We tidied up for Xmas, by putting all the junk in bags and chucking them in a spare bedroom. I need to prevent that junk heading back downstairs and enjoy having a clear lounge. That will be positive reinforcement for tackling the rest!
2. Deal with the bags from the lounge.
3. Make a list of quick win categories to deal with eg books.
4. Dispose of something from one quick win category every week.
5. Unpack one box or tidy one area every week.
6. Do not create more clutter - put away/ throw out stuff straightaway.
7. Do not leave things on the stairs - take them upstairs immediately.12 -
A frog (as far as I understand) is a job that you have avoided, procastinated, run away from.

3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedSpent 2 hours in bed unable to sleep so got up 😔 even the Horlicks didn’t work ☹️ It is dry but windy & chilly 🥶 but there is some blue sky 🙂 just as I wrote this it started raining 🙄Anyway, straight into cheerleading 🙂
TC77, we are sisters-in-arms 😂 I frequently find myself getting sidetracked by low priority tasks 😂 However, I console myself with the fact that at least one thing has been sorted 😉 & haphazard or not you have still managed a goodly amount of decluttering 👏 Good luck with frogs 🍀Welcome back stellata 👋 Sorry that 2021 was a particularly rough year but you have proved your strength by still being here 👏 The 2022 EDT is far more comfortable than last year’s Charabanc/s 😉 so hopefully a more pleasant journey & some successful decluttering 🤞 I see you have already started 👏Black_Saturn, had to look up the language - Arabic no less 🙂 I hope your little boy is feeling better & had a better sleep last night 🤞Very useful information re the need to clean lightbulbs 👏 but of course that is yet another item to add to the Master To Do list 😔 Well done on your decluttering 👏Welcome aboard SeekingFlight 👋 I understand moving is stressful but it can be exciting as well 🙂 Are you already packed & doing the decluttering in your new home? or are you decluttering before packing? Whichever it is there will be someone here who will be able to offer hints & tips 🙂Welcome aboard The EDT, gilly1964 👋 Sorry you were decluttered from your job ☹️ but it sounds like you made the most of it 👏 How exciting a new grandchild 🙂 please don’t forget to bring him/her aboard for a visit 😉 never too young to get them used to decluttering 🙃 I have to say that Justin & Ron (later on) have a lot to answer for 😂 Justin always insists on staying and Ron keeps on distracting us so he can stay as well 😔 At least you & OH have an excellent reason to declutter 👏 after all you don’t want your shiny new garage door guarding useless ‘stuff’ 😉
oceanspirit, what a lovely list ☺️ Don’t forget we have The TLC Carriage which should fit in nicely with numbers 1 & 2 on your list 🙂 Well done on getting so much done last year 👏 Hopefully the little bedroom aka the office won’t cause you too many problems when you start decluttering/rearranging 🤞 What a great idea for using the 2nd diary 👏
Great work roundtuit 👏 especially the going for a walk 👏 I really need to get myself out & about so might just start by walking to the next bus stop before catching the bus - our bus stop is really close 😉
Excellent work Guineapigsqueaks 👏 especially persuading OH to sort his whisky stash 😉
Lovely to see you back Vascodakarma 👋 Judging by the pictures you posted on the 2021 thread you had an absolutely marvellous time in Iceland 🥳 You have come back fully invigorated & raring to go 👏
Baxtersmum, I know I am probably a bit late with this but The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning is making sure that your possessions get disposed of in a fashion that makes you happy, rather than leaving the decluttering to those you leave behind.
Fairy_Shazza so pleased that the Covid Train has departed & good riddance 😖 Excellent work on the decluttering 👏 The decluttering journey is so much easier when other members of the household are on board - lucky you 🙂Oh cripes- I have no charge on iPad so had better post this & come back later 😔MrsSD

Happy New year everyone and thanks for all the good wishes for my new grandbabies.
Welcome to new friends on the threadThankyou for getting us all restarted in 2022 @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
This is a very fast train right now...
@ Mothernerd. I like your mantras but even happier you got your Mum in hospital before she became so ill that there was no return.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger; I love the idea of a the resting carriage - no falling off the wagon this year
So I went to the allotment yesterday as the weather was so lovely and I met up with my plot buddy to catch up. I also had my first decluttering as I gave DS3 2 bags of gifts and helpful items for his new baby, partner and his older daughter.
Frogs: I have written all birthday cards for January and will post brothers today.
Plans for today: to get the decs down, sort and reassign to bin, CS then put the rest in the loft.
I am not taking any Christmas stuff to the CS as they can't store it so I have a box in my loft for this. Each year I put stuff in it and bring it in Jan and take it to the CS in November.

Good morning all and happy new year 🥳
I am celebrating having steam cleaned my kitchen floor again just now with my new steam cleaner - I am delighted. It’s the second time I’ve used it and I hate mopping the floor so here’s hoping it will be a lot more sparkly now I have this new gadget!I have yet to do the bathrooms as that involves carrying it upstairs but I am hoping it will work well on the shower screens.@Mrs_Salad_Dodger. Last year was mission declutter and clean - this was very effective and motivating for me. I am not too bad at regular decluttering but I hate cleaning. Is there scope in the 2022 decluttering campaign for cleaning motivation as well?
If only I can spend less time on you tube watching others extreme clean and get on with it myself 😂15 -
Well SJ Towers is off and running... Yesterday I unexpectedly tackled the medicine cupboard due to an avalanche whilst looking for some post New Years Eve Gaviscon... I was then informed by Mrs SJ that she had filled a carrier bag of rubbish from her dressing table.
Rather than counting items I'm counting days instead and aiming to remove something from the house everyday of 2022. So i will tick off the days and list some things that were in it:
Day 1 - medicine cupboard organised (including 3 shoe cleaning sprays, 4 tubes of out of date cream, 1 show lace), Mrs SJ's dressing table cleared (highlights being a broken hair dryer).
Day 2 - 2 sets of Christmas lights, 1 bin-bag of wool sorted ready to donate to someone who knits hearts for a stillborn baby charity.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......16 -
GrannyKate said:@AnimalTribe - a good way to sort is putting like with like if you can set aside a small area to do so. This works well with cables, electronics etc as they always seem to be everywhere in house - you can then see exactly what you have and set aside a home for them.GC Feb 25 - £225.54/£250 Mar £218.63/£24013

Thanks @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, I'm actually decluttering before moving it's been a bit of a mission getting to this point. First our buyers pulled out so we got new ones, then our seller decided she didn't want to sell after all only to call us 2 months later to see if we still wanted the house. But finally we are in position to exchange mid Jan and move at the end.
Unfortunately we are in a bit of chaos at home, my partner has long term health issues and isn't able to help as much as she would like, she's also a clutter bug but has made a commitment to letting go of some stuff. I'm making a key areas list for doing before the move (especially the sheds), then there is the storage container frankly most of that will go we haven't touched it in almost a year.
Any advice is very welcome when i moved here i came from renting so had very little stuff, this time it's a bit more epic.#19 Make £2025 in 2025 £8.32/£2025"Remember not to do too many things at once" said me to herself.Mortgage Free Wannabe #25 2025 OP £500/£600015
