Amazing material find @Miró
Takes me back a few years ago, when my friend was having a clear out and gave me a load of shoes, all in good condition. I bought a few pots of shoe dye and used it on the shoes.
I still smile as we were on a night out and she complimented me on my shoes, saying how nice they were. The look on her face when I told her.4 -
Miró said:Sounds like you got some really lovely wool! And thoughts as to what you will make with it yet? I bought three bags of mixed yarns from a chazza recently and so far have made an aran jumper, an aran bobble hat, a brown and cream bobble hat and a long fringed scarf in mohair. Have loads left but have run out of ideas now!
Spotted another pricy 'bargain' yesterday, this time in the normally really cheap community chazza. Twas a pair of b/n ankle boots by either Ted Baker or Kurt Geiger, (can't remember). Black leather dotted with small coloured sparkly stones all over and priced at £75....think they said original price around the £200 mark I do hope this isn't indicative of future trends in chazza prices??!!
I actually went back to that shop yesterday, picked up more of that wool that I'd missed, and also two coats for £2 each. One is just a cheapy fleece lined raincoat I bought to keep in the car, the other is a lovely Tommy Hilfiger red wool coat, like new but with some cat hair. I needed a new coat so for £2 it was a bargain! In that shop, almost all of the clothes, bedclothes, blankets and bags are £2. They get so many donations, they just want it gone asap.
I can't imagine spending £75 on one item from a charity shop! Some must be looking on ebay to find out what asking prices/bidding prices are like... good luck to them!7 -

I took a dozen bags of decluttering to the charity shops last weekend, so feel I’ve offset my future purchases for a while!I’m on the look out for a really big handbag that I can put my knitting in, and a navy school coat for my 11 year old. Also nice wool to make Christmas presents for next year (I’ve started a cabled scarf already) and aromatherapy oils to make homemade soaps with would be great. Oils are the sort of thing I’d expect to find in unwanted gift sets at this time of year so I’m hopeful. The charity shops in Syston had loads of great kids books when I dropped off our bags, but the 9 I picked up will only tide them over for a week or so. Not exactly chazza but still a bargain, I discovered Borrow Box which is a free app from the library service. It’s basically audible but free. The kids love it. There was a big cost difference with Oxfam charging a pound a book and Loros doing 4 for a pound.“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest7
