Lots of bargains still to be found I think, so hoping that the high prices some have seen won’t become a wider thing.
Got a few bits this week. Shuggie Bain (2020 booker winner) for 50 p, and a brand new NASA jigsaw for £2 in local animal charity shop. I remember when there was a run on jigsaws during the first lockdown. You couldn’t buy them anywhere! Also got a Stranger Things tshirt PJ top and a really good quality laptop bag today for £2 and £3, respectively. It seems as though people are still doing their start-of-year clearouts!Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

Spotted a nice coat in the window of Blue Cross on the early morning dog walk. Been thinking about it since....
~Downside - fur collar. Might pop in on trip to town Wednesday, see if it's still there, and if the collar is detachable, and what size it is, and if I can try it on there....
I don;t know if we're back to be able to try things on in shops yet?Wealth is not measured by currency5 -

2 beautiful hand knitted baby cardigans, one white with a touch of sparkle and one white with an apricot fleck in it. Brand new and £2.50 each from local Mencap shop. Apparently a lady knits for them. I was going to have a go at knitting a couple myself as a gift for an imminent new baby in the wider family, but I haven't knitted since mine were babies, my skills are basic and I can't compete with my find, especially if you factor in my time. I found little cardigans for over babygros so useful, it was what I wanted to gift. So a win for me and the charity and a thank you to the lady who knits for them.

I failed to try on a coat I got for 7.99 last Fri, wanted it as an evening coat as I do not have any as they no longer fit. When I got home waist was OK but top half couldn't do up ... stuck a scarf on and you can't tell! Teaches me to try.
But I got told off before Xmas for trying on a shoe!5 -
Pollycat said:A lot of charity shops I go into still have their changing rooms closed but I've tried a few coats on in shops, it's not like trying on trousers or a dress.
I went so far as to do this with a pair of trousers in a (non charity) shop about 3 years back. I was visiting with my mom in Canada and had bought a really nice pair of summer cropped trousers - perfect thing to wear to work. Prob was they were beige and the shop didn't have the right size in navy which I wanted to get as well. But one of their other shops did. So I trotted to that one, grabbed the trousers and asked where the changing room was as there's no way I'm going to buy something to bring back to the UK without ensuring it fit. Unfortunately they had a pipe burst above the changing rooms and had workers in so that portion of the shop was closed. It was quiet so I told the assistant I'd find an isolated corner. No problem whatsoever until I had things at half mast and one of the repair guys came past. Good looking lad too! Don't think he knew which way to look!!!

Yay after a few weeks of chazza bargain famine I managed to pick up a few items today. A really thick and snuggly fleece dressing gown in charcoal grey and full length, even on me, £4! So nice to find one that isn't soppy pink or baby blue, it's unbranded and I suspect it may contravene some fire/safety laws being so long?? Then I found a pair of M & S black, thick, straight leg leggings in that high rise style with a wide elastic waistband, £1.25 - so comfy for wearing around the house. Then I picked up a a pair of M & S straight legged black trousers in a heavy cotton fabric for £1.50. Both these items were on the half price rail Finally I found a black belt....just perfect for the black trousers, priced at £1. Having to buy a size smaller than usual at the moment thanks to Covid weight loss.....still not got my sense of taste back, even after six months, and most foods just taste horrible so I have little interest in eating. I'm regretting not picking up a Prestige saucepan, small size and it looked as if it would clean up a treat, priced at £1.95 so I doubt it will still be there next time I call in . Everything mentioned was in the Community Chazza Shop.
Spotted another high priced item in the CRUK shop...a pair of black trousers, unknown brand, BNWT but no original price, CRUK price £65!!! The Kurt Geiger ankle boots are still hanging about at £75 as is the £100 ugly handbag.10 -
I got a pretty good bargain yesterday from Air Ambulance:
a Hammond & Co (established 1776) crombie style coat for OH.
Herringbone wool with a navy lining, it's in very good condition with one of the 3 outside pockets still stitched up.
It's this one without the velvet collar:

Fits perfectly and looks very smart.
